Sixaola Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I have notcied that the tactical flashpoints are way too difficutl to handle by a regular group. The groups I have been that are successful are the groups of 65 that are geared well enough, probably in 208s. Whenever the group is conformed by lower level characters, the lacki of survival abilities and some of the important passives in ther discipline path make for a pretty rough instance. I understand that instances need to be scaled up to the next tier of level in the game, but Tacticals almost feel like you need to fill all the roles to be successful. In the past, I used the Tacticals to teach new players what to expect in the game, and mistakes weren't that devastating as they are. I think the difficulty of these flashpoints should be scaled down just a bit, to make them the role-less options they were before. Oh, and since we are on that, what's with the weekly quest missing some of the tacticals?
thereter Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Yeah, the issues you have brought up are being discussed in other threads.
AmberLynx Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 So I read all those complaints about how the tacticals became an imbalanced nightmare, and decided to try running a couple out of curiosity. I ran a total of 3 flashpoints on my Jugg tank - The Foundry, the Assault on Tython and the Boarding party. For each of the group I was the only lvl 65, others were around lvl 20-35. Two times we had a lowbie healer, one time it was me and 3 dps. My experience was just the same as in 3.0 - maybe I had to pay more attention to controling the trash pulls and briefly explain some tactics, but that's it. All 3 times there were no wipes and 1-2 occasional deaths. I am by no means an elite player, so what am I doing wrong? Besides the fact that lowbies are being spoiled the story (like when a lvl 17 gets the battle of Ilum), I have no issues with new tacticals.
thewitchdoctor Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 My experience is similar. The issues I have had include: 1. Players simply not knowing basic skills of their class or how they can be used to complete an objective - particularly, I have seen a number of assassins not realising they can use stealth to CC mobs to clear the party's way; and 2. Ranged DPS who will happily stand next to a healing station and then not use it keep the melee DPS who are effectively tanking it alive. Neither of these are new to 4.0. But when the group has worked together, then the TFPs have been simple enough. For example, I had a Foundry run yesterday - which included characters in their 20s - and we decimated it as 4 DPS. One would 'tank' til they could tank no more and another took their place. Ranged DPS stood by healing stations and activated them as required. It was actually pretty elegant as it was done by unspoken understanding.
KristoKal Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Imo, "tacticals" are now tacticals, you actually have to use tactics now. And its positive thing, yes, some runs maybe take long time to complete, but at least I have been lot of fun to run them. Pre 4.0 "tacticals" was just faceroll and become boring. After 4.0 I start love game again, I am no hardcore raider and have no time/interest run HM ops, so HM flashpoints and tacticals are just good for me. Forum is full of whining how hard content is now. Impossible to complete, etc, etc. Not really, contenmt are now your lvl content all the time and you are not 5-10 lvl overleveled. Do not rush, take your time, and it is fine and good time. At least for me. I love what BW done with game. Best expansion so far. But its just my opinion
ShawDou Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) Some tacticals are good, but some need tuning. It all depend which one you encounter. If you want to compare compare it as group of 4 DPS, and even better for melee dps. With tank or healer each tactical is easier. Right now, my worst experiences was Blood Hunt and Maelstrom prison. In Blood Hunt we could not get past second boss. You cant stand close to healing terminals or you will get knocked down, and if you are not healed most of the time your health goes down like a rock. In Maelstrom Prison, last boss, we got him to last post following tactics, but whenever he started to use skill series of shots (which fire though objects) it was about 4-5 shots, each hit 15- 20k (dont remember exactly) withing 3 sec so almost 100% kill for low level player from full health if you dont click terminal withing seconds. Also if you are lower lever player you dont have defensive cool-downs or escape skills. And many later FPs almost expect you to use them. Edited November 2, 2015 by ShawDou
Torvai Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Can you stop saying tfp's are hard? I did false emperor this weekend with 3 friend with only base classes on level 15 and we were fine.
ShawDou Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) I say that some are hard and some not and they need some tuning on specific places. If boss have high damage ability in short time, any dps without defensive skills should survive it. If you encounter big group of mobs with not usable CC in group, you should be able to kill them without death. If you get tank and heal you have luck and it is easier, but all encounters should be tunned into level with worst group combination can be which means 4 low level dps and especially higher level FPs expect you to have defensive cool-downs and utilizes. Because if lover level players will get kicked their *** in any tactical FP they join (which should be easiest group content in game), you think they will go and play endgame group content or hardmode? By me best solution for start would be unlock tactical flaspoints for lover level people slowly. If i have 15lvl i can go only Athis and Hammer Station. I will never get blood hunt for example. Torvai Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) You done one of the easiest ones there is, and are now an expert? How about try a few more? We queued random and got it. And you did get the part where I said base classes? On level 15? And yes, I'd consider myself a pretty good player(maybe check the link in my signature ). Content outside of Ops never was hard. It only is, when either you and/or your group members suck. That's the whole point: it isn't the content that's hard. It's players that make it so. Edited November 2, 2015 by Torvai
