EahasserX Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Greetings. As Star Trek online player with similar Game experience as in SWToR now i want to ask - EA / Bioware -is there a possibility to get a Lifetime Subscription in the future ? With one Episode a month (+ / -) and the normale gamecontent it might be a good idea for SWtoR Fans. But as in STO its not worth (for me) a montly Subsription. But a good offer as Lifetime .. this would be something really nice. I played now around 10 Days with the Kotfe but now i dont really know what to do as Founder in this Game. To bring all 8 classes to L65 and Outlander Story isn't really an Endgame (for me). And wait 4 weeks for 3-4 hours fun with the new episode might be not enough.
SelinaH Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I don't understand how a Lifetime Subscription would be a good deal for you if you already feel like you're running out of things to do. Why not unsub and then resub when there's new content you might enjoy?
Jarvus Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I would never buy a subscription for an MMO for longer than 12 months and I would only do that if they were obligated to give me a prorated refund on any unused portion of subscription time if the game closed down before the year ended. It just does not make sense because 99/100 MMOs will close down a few years after they start.

Ive seen quite a few games offer this, but I don't know if its viable here or not.

I would if the price was right... it is $179.00 USD per year now. So they would have to give a good price break. This would be a double edge sword .. if you will
Laurreth Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 With 4.0, there I do not think that there is a need for a subscription anymore. All content that Bioware cares about, i.e., linear episodic storytelling, is available as part of free2play plus the purchase of expansions, the rest is just not maintained.

There are seven chapters remaining in KotFE, and you don't feel they are worth seven months of subscription fees. Instead you'd be willing to pay 24 months worth of subscription fees up front to avoid any further payments. Wait what? A way better deal would be to wait seven months until the last chapter is released, then sub for one month and get instant access to all chapters. As a bonus you'll get to play all of the KotFE story in one go.
Psychopyro Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 It'll never happen.... As a person who has Lifers to both STO and LOTRO, I would love this option. Sadly EA is more about profits then keeping numbers looking good. Even if they did, you could bet that then they'd start charging an arm and a leg for expansions then.

As a fellow STO lifer i agree that it has been well worth it in the long run. a common argument against it is that the monthly coin grant would mean players would never need to pay for cartel items and i can tell you that i know many STO lifers who will occasionally folk out extra dough if they have it to get new ships the same would apply here. Of course it would depend on what they did with it, i doubt a species thats a lifer only would go down well here like the lib borg do on STO
DarkLordSnake Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Truthfully , lifetime membership would be a horrible idea. Swtor would end up shutting down in the next two three years if they added it, I've always thought that's why clone wars adventures broke, they introduced lifetime membership and people stopped paying for the game. Just my opinion.

You have to subscribe to get Kotfe and each new episode. Doesn't matter how long you subscribe but you have to have done so to at least get the "episodic storytelling" up to that point.

If you wait until all episodes have been released and then subscribe for one month, you've effectively purchased the expansion.

Wait what, I have to maintain a subscription to receive the rest of that shallow meandering wannabe-KotOR DLC? So assuming I don't want to wait half a year and then just grind it down as a single block, I'm supposed to pay 80€ or more for what looks and feels like a 20€ straight-to-bargain-bins release? I guess it's sadly consistent with EA's strategy of charging 110–130€ for what amounts to Battlefield DLC
RogerApple Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I think if they ever did a lifetime sub for 200. It would show they can't even get you to sub for for a full year. They rather attempt to get 200 dollars up front then try for 14 dollars a month for several years. Obviously the 14 would be greater then 200. They have confidence that they can keep you subbed and lifetime subs say the reverse

Some do the lifetime (Mostly for the Perks), some do monthly...just depends on how much you want to invest...Im a lifetime STO player, and its well worth it with all the perks.... SWTOR, would have to offer some seriously cool **** to make it worthwhile for this game though...
