Simple enough, you should have more freedom in selection of your weapon, picking class locks you up with a weapon type which you cannot change ever again. Most of the skills already have animation for different type of weapon, add more animations to different kind of weapons on different classes, give more freedom of individuality. Making so many animations for cartel every month, i'm sure making couple for skills is a trivial task. Also would make game less boring and repetitive.

Personally? I think they should do all weapons similar to how D&D does it.

MELEE classes can use ALL MELEE weapons (or a subset of the whole -- which is still quite a lot of variety, even if not all of 1 type)

AND

RANGED classes can use MOST if not all RANGED weapons (or a subset, similar to a limitation in the above notion)

 

I SEE NO REASON WHY Followers/Companions can ONLY use a TECHBLADE but NOT a Vibrosword, when, AESTHETICALLY AND MARTIALLY, they are practically the SAME THING: a big giant glowy power beat stick.

LIGHTSABERS, of course, remain special because only jedi or sith can use them...

But for the rest of the melee weapons, NO BIG DEAL.

 

Now, ranged?

Sniper rifles and Assault cannons should stay specialized for certain classes or followers ONLY.

BUT ALL PISTOLS and RIFLES should be able to be used by ALL CLASSES that are RANGED.

 

Personally i think the devs or designers never really thought this through, because it makes NO SENSE to limit these characters in this way.... because in real life, pistols and rifles are NOT THAT HARD to use -- depending on their make or model, because they are all of their own type, whereas SNIPER equipment and CANNONS are a whole other speciality in and of themselves and should always remain separate.

Wholly agree. Well put. More freedom is always nice, variety only makes the game more interesting to play Edited by Alex_York

ya, rifle to my pt tank, pistol to my operative healer. knife to my scoundrel (can live without the last part). also, i really feel very weird when my sorcosages carry activated LS thru entire combat, but never use it. maybe it would be possible to give us an option of a non-weapon MH? like some kind of an artefact they simply carry in the hand? speaking of which, it is also very weird to see a sorc duelling someone in a cutscene, while actually they dont even have any skill for that (2 saber strikes from before the ac pick are not exactly skill xD). so signing with all i have under this.
