Treysa Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Ok devs take heart to the fallacy of your ways. I play on a PVE server why? So I don't have to PVP! So who's whacked out bright Idea was it to make me PVP in order to get M1-4X? Ok so why don't I just not get M1-4X? Because I had him b4 with no pvp! So this is flat out wrong of you to force me in to something I Don't like to do. let me explain how its also not fair to your other players. 1. I dont care if we lose im still getting 1 match. So pvp'rs yell at me. Well scream at bioware they forced this! 2. Im not geared for PVP and will not buy PVP gear to compete because i dont like PVP! 3. Because I dont like PVP and don't study the tactics even if I did try I would suck because I don't have the want to PVP! This is unfair to me and your fellow PVP'rs so quit this stupid tactic and make a dual path to get stuff on PVE server if you want to include PVP! Quit being morons this is what irritate folks and drive them away!
Sansanor Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Ok so why don't I just not get M1-4X? Because I had him b4 with no pvp! You don't have to PvP if you get M1-4X to Rank 10 Influence BEFORE you start KotFE. And if you didn't? Then, just go to the terminal and get him back anyway. If he was originally your companion, you apparently don't have to do ANYTHING to get him back. Problem solved.
jozocuric Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I agree with Treysa completely! I'm on RP server and I don't want to play PvP! I definetely suck at PvP. I have tried it but I get yelled at and ultimately kick out from group because I'm not geared and not tactical for it. Why force us to do PvP? If I wanted it, then I would be on PvP server, not on RP or PvE. There must be some other way to acquire Lt. Pierce for Empire and M1-4X for Republic.
Halinalle Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 - 4X or Pierce isn't required for anything. - Only way they are different from other companions is their personality. All companions can perform all three roles. - Even if you want them back as they were, your companion. You can get them back as Trooper (4X) or Warrior (Pierce) without any pvp.
jozocuric Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 What about other classes? Why force anyone to play PvP? If I want a companion, I'm forced to play PvP matches. Why? That should be optional for all classes, not only Trooper/Sith Warrior.
Drew_Braxton Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Agree with OP. I am a big fan of swtor, but Bioware continues to force pvp on pver's. If you like pvp then you don't fully understand this point of view. It's two completely different worlds for those of us who dislike pvp. It's like forcing someone playing a bowling game to compete at pinball. Keep the two separate on pve servers!

That is not the point I want them on my other characters to. Now I'm going to stink up PVP with 15 more characters. They are a collection and I will just to get them. Any PVP'r that minds well I don't have any sympathy for, you can complain to Bioware if you don't like it. The principle is I play on a PVE server to PVE not PVP! So quit think of it as a way to fix my problem. There is no way without the Dev's correcting their stupidity! That Stupidity is putting PVP forced quest on a PVE Server.
CaptinSloth Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Yeah i agree OP, pvp shouldn't be a requirement to the story whether you enjoy it or not.
Asbetos Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 (edited) He's a PvP reward, the same as HK-51 requires PvE to unlock. So yeah, quit whining and deal with it. Edited November 1, 2015 by Asbetos
JamieKirby Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 He's a PvP reward, the same as HK-51 requires PvE to unlock. So yeah, quit whining and deal with it. Overly long-winded PvE to unlock you mean. lol I however think it should all be purely PvE to get these companions, i find pvp, primitive, pointless and a waste of time, the only pvp i find interesting is Huttball, but sadly you can't just queue for that, you gotta queue for all.....idiots. That is why i tend to stay away from pvp servers, most pvp'ers just want easy wins, so pvp'ers on your team are going to be moaning and ************ cause a pve'er is on their team....effectively screwing over everyone else on said team because bioware didn't have the common sense to have a PvE Alternative.
Asbetos Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Overly long-winded PvE to unlock you mean. lol To be honest, I have no idea. I never cared enough to bother going through all that hassle. Things can, just as easily, be turned around. Let's say you have a PvP'r who wants a Praxon Firaxa. He can also ask why would he have to do PvE which he hates to get a mount he wants.

How could somebody who hates PvE even play story based and PvE based game? On PvE server everything except warzones should be doable by PvE only and honestly I think the Alliance should be PvE only even on PvP server, because in this case PvP doesn't make any sense in the story whatsoever. Killing each other in time when you need to work together is quite inappropriate. Edited November 2, 2015 by coremar

I do both but I heavily lean toward the pve content and there's nothing wrong here. 4.0 turned companions into fluff content, now whether that was a good thing is another matter, and is therefore not essential to any pve content. At all. You can use any of the other comps to get the same results. Though swtor is pve centric that does not mean it's pve exclusive. If that's what you're looking for then there are rpg's out there that you can play. Being that comps are fluff rewards they are fair game to be used as rewards for a wide variety of challenges including pvp. Asking that every challenge be tailored to be within our personal comfort zones is unreasonable. Now if items essential to pve, such as 220 set gear, was placed behind a pvp wall then that would be a different story but as it stands BW has not done anything out of line with this particular comp challenge. That should be optional for all classes, not only Trooper/Sith Warrior. I agree wholeheartedly, forced PVP in a role playing game on a PVE or RP server is asinine. Not only do the PVErs get a raw deal, but the Uber1337PVPrs who absolutely love PVE geared "noobs" have to suffer through our actions and lack of gear too. This requirement needs to be removed.
RagnarAugustus Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 He's a PvP reward, the same as HK-51 requires PvE to unlock. So yeah, quit whining and deal with it. Why would a hardcore PVPer who hates story even care about PVE story? Perhaps it's my ignorance on the generalities of PVP but couldn't one conceivably create a level 1 toon for PVP purposes and just PVP and ignore the story competely? And HK-51 is only usable in PVE so once again why would a PVPer care about him?

Because an MMO is a massive multilayer only ROLEPLAYING game...nothing about PVP in that name. MMOs have always been about playing with the community to do raids and other PVE events. Some MMOs have focused more on PVP combat but MMOs generally have been PVE centric for years even if they incorporate PVP as a side distraction. Perhaps you would feel differently on the matter if BW decided to implement a 4.0 change made you earn PVP gear (that you already had and then took away) by completing PVE Operations.

Except it has been said repeatedly that if you had M1-4X before 4.0 on a Trooper, you don't have to PVP to get him. So that wouldn't happen. There is no analogy here; merely that something you want is the reward for something you don't like. That's fine of course because you are allowed your preferences. Systemically though, there is no issue here. Edited November 2, 2015 by azudelphi
Velarax Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) I agree. Whatever PINHEAD decided to make certain quests PVP mandatory, even though the player did NOT sign up to PVP, or flag for PVP or even mention a passing interest in PVPing... aaand I'm including quest chains that require some PVP to complete (like the stupid macrobinoculars quest, for example)... really should understand that when players want to PVP they do just that. Forcing everyone who does a certain quest or quest chain to PVP is just playne rong. PVP should ALWAYS be completely VOLUNTARY and NEVER should be a requirement for any quest at all, unless it is specifically given in a PVP WARZONE. Sheesh. Edited November 3, 2015 by Velarax typo
Shayddow Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 <<And HK-51 is only usable in PVE so once again why would a PVPer care about him? >> actually, there is an achievement under companion legacy for using HK as your companion while killing other faction players. Although obviously you can't use him in pvp matches, or in open-world <in the circle on ilum and in the area on tatooine areas - both dismiss your companion - so this achievement was poorly thought out. That said - for the first few weeks after the rollout there's going to be a lot of us non-pvp'ers in the matches to get our companions - so.... its going to suck for awhile while all of us non-pvp'ers are forced to participate.
