Is it meaningful to report in-game mail spammers?

I've been getting a lot of in-game spam mail recently, and most often I click the "report as spam" button. I'm just wondering (since they are so frequent and since I seem to recognize some of the names over and over), is there a point in reporting the spammers? I mean, is anyone actually looking into these reports and doing something about them?

I report everyone I get and they seem to get dealt with in one big group. It seems to have improved for me, I've not been getting any gold seller mails for the last few weeks.

I think there might be a mechanic that silences them if enough people report them, but Im not sure. This in addition to an admin that is (which are probably all american..). Then again I might be too optimistic here.

For me (at least) all it does is end up with a silly number of open tickets and then the message - "You cannot create another ticket", and then a phone call to CS - who say it is an in-game issue, until you tell them that you cannot report it in game, and the following Tues it gets fixed...

Rare but more annoying than the goldspammers!

So, probably not entirely pointless then :) I'll keep reporting them, and I also started writing down the names (started last night, so only one name so far) to see if there are repeat offenders or if my (admittedly crappy) memory is playing tricks on me.

That is exactly why I no longer report them.

I report them but all it seems to do is open tickets.

...which all get deleted in a batch about a month or so later. Folks may have noted that the ticket number, for some reason, has a negative number for reports like this. Other player complaints as well.

I report once per spammer and then just delete the rest.

Won't matter, they'll be on their next bot in the following hour. EA chose to not deal with them, but instead, nerfed credit drops for everyone.

Kind of sad that TESO got rid of most of their bot / spammer problem (which was horrendous) in less time, than with how long SWTOR has been dealing with bots and spammers.
