Zakua Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) My characters are always targeted / targeting on their companions. I do not recall having to smash my "esc" key every time I got off of a mount, our took and elevator (zone change) before KOTFE released, now in 4.0 it seems to be the case. Is there some auto focus/target to companion bug or something? I know when a Sorc or someone casts certain things on your character it automatically makes your character target said caster....well this appears to be happening a lot with our companions now and it is sorta annoying haha. Not the end of the world but a PITA none the less IMO Edited October 27, 2015 by Zakua
Drudenfusz Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) Qft ^^ Shouldn't you then actually quote the thing? Anyway, I am also annoyed by this, so hope BioWare changes that soon, doubt they will adress this tomorrow already, though. Edited October 26, 2015 by Drudenfusz
Zakua Posted October 27, 2015 Author Posted October 27, 2015 I thought there would be more discussion about this. Maybe it is a feature
Jerqa Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 I've noticed this too and this is rather annoying. Not game breaking or anything, just annoying. I hope they eventually get this fixed.
Talas Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Very annoying please change back to no auto targeting of companion.
TGLandslide Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 I agree, the auto-target on Companions is annoying. Please get rid of it!
Kampori Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 PLEASE fix this Bioware. It may seem like such a small thing, but it's absolutely aggravating. Drives me up the wall, having to click off my companion. I mean sure, I love Xalek more than anything in SWTOR, but I don't want to be gawking at him 90% of the time. Also, while we're at it, please fix the goddamn lack of companion buffs. Before, once you summoned a companion (or dismounted) they would, without fail, be buffed after 1 second (unless you dismount into combat, where they get buffed after combat, annoyingly) Now? They don't get buffed unless you buff them.. and in conjunction with the first complaint- that means having to first click off your companion, THEN activate buffs, because for some ungodly reason you can't buff a companion directly. I know companions are OP, and having 4 buffs will make 0.01% difference to their output, but still... its damn annoying. Seeing Xalek at rank 50 in tank spec with 122,384 hp is quite something.
PrincessTater Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I totally agree with you, Please SWTOR, turn this off, I do not want to auto target my companion every time i load into a phase, every time i get off my mount, etc. It's annoying
Komarimono Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Now this is a thread I can get behind. Please fix this bioware, tired of this auto targeting companions as well. Forget the whining threads on companions OP, or QQ items not here. This should be a simple fix.
Max_Killjoy Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 It's one of those things that's not game-breaking but ends up being very aggravating for some reason.
WHTJunior Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I am on board with any plan that fixes this.
WorldSmasher Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 (edited) I am ANNOYED by this auto-target-the-companion thing. ANNOYED!! (<< I even used an emoticon to demonstrate my level of annoyance.) Take note BW. Fix this, soon (<< Not the trademarked "Soon", but actually "soon.") Edited November 3, 2015 by WorldSmasher
Caulderone Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 It's one of those things that's not game-breaking but ends up being very aggravating for some reason. QFT. So very, very annoying. Please fix it!
Lord_Iurus Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Does this actually affect the game in any way? Instead of targeting nobody, you're targeting your companion, so that you can then proceed to target your enemy just like you would have anyway.

I can't renew my class buff while targeting my companion. Because reasons.
RiceSaber Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 The way I found to deal with this that isn't so annoying is to click off the box under preferences for deselect target ground or something like that. So, all I have to do is just click my mouse and it de selects the companion. Yes, you still have to "do" something, but you don't have to keep reaching over to hit esc, just a quick mouse click.
