Cloma Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I like it! Yes some content is "recycled" , but there is also a ton of new content on the core worlds. From what I can tell it makes it easier for the developer to roll out new content on the core worlds without disrupting the leveling process.
darkov Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Given that the purpose behind it is to make us grind old content every week, I don't really like it. Level sync itself doesn't bother me, just their motivations for doing it.
AoseTades Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I think its garbage. You earned leve l60 plus, you should keep it no matter where you go. Only way I see it should work is if you are helping a low level character level, and when you group them, it matches your leve lwith the planet. Other then that, its pointless. What im starting to see now is two or three low level chatacters jumping level 60's that are now brought down to their level. So what have we really accomplished here? Ganking in a different form now is all
Lightmaguz Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) Love it's great, I can join most groups, do heroics, stay after overleveling a planet and although there's severe whining lower level npc's do die really extremely fast. What im starting to see now is two or three low level chatacters jumping level 60's that are now brought down to their level. So what have we really accomplished here? Ganking in a different form now is all Wpvp has been dead since Ilum and the pvp servers are all dead as well, that's not a problem but lower level characters jumping 65's is pretty awesome to tell the truth. Karkais Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) Now that I have played with it, I have to say its not as bad as I feared. Then again, it never was about the idea, but the application. Currently my level-synced main character is still just as overpowered as I could have imagined. Of course, this is probably because I am a subscriber and a legendary player in endgame gear. It may be different for F2P-players in weaker gear and not much presence.. but I wouldnt know about it. Mob placement on certain plants (Voss specifically) still sucks, but I can live with it. As level sync didn't change my game experience much at all, I really have no reason to oppose it. I have a feeling that Bioware is going to nerf something eventually, though. Edited October 26, 2015 by Karkais
GreyestJedi Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Level sync sucks. I earned my Level I should be able to go back to any lower level planet and smite puddies.
Caiuson Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I like it. I still faceroll just not as fast. Plus with the reworked heroics I'm farming comms and credits quite well, its a good time killer if Im only playing for a bit or waiting for queue to pop/guildies/friends.
Tomren Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Dislike it. Rehasing old content, to buy time ? put an infinite counter on dailies to let you redo alot of old rehashed pieces of content to waste your time until release of story episodes X-XVIII ? Think this is insulting that I have to (yes have to) redo all those old heroics, now at a slower pace than if it was pre-level sync system, even though you get instantly moved to the areas with "travel to" button. Then theres the new redo star fortress what 9 times in hc +2 ? to progress story ? solo or with 1 extra friend/companion ? Topped off with rank 50 companion being 3 times stronger then the player character now ? why did Lana need me ? rank 50 shes 3 times stronger then me ? why did they even care to unfreeze me, every cutscene where you meet a bad guy you get thrown around like a ragdoll by both foe and friend ? Everyone else tells me what to do, so let me get this straight, my character has which skill they need ? not power, not knowledge or wisdom of anything useful as everyone else seems to call the shots in that department, guess that leaves Luck ? Woot i'm a rabbits foot!
lizziandme Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 It doesn't bother me much, granted it is annoying that you can't go to a lower level planet and smite the NPCs with one blow but what the heck. Two or three blows instead ain't a big deal lol. Seriously though, I haven't seen much of a difference in my fighting when I go to a lower planet. And it is nice to not take all the XP from a lower player.
Drudenfusz Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I like it, snce it makes it much easier to play with friends!
MSchuyler Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I don't think level synch by itself is enough to drop my sub. It limits what I can do, especially on what I call "mop up" issues like going back to finish something skipped originally. Insofar as level synch stops ganking it's a good thing, but I would never do that anyway. For normal leveling I doubt level synch will do much unless it prevents us getting a bit ahead of ourselves, which would not be a good thing, but I haven't tried it yet. Much worse is the way they screwed up crafting and screwed over crafters by taking away so very much that was already earned, bought, and paid for, and the way they screwed up companions. There was nothing wrong with either and it was completely unnecessary to do. And to flat out LOSE them for the expansion is completely unsatisfactory.
hadoken Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I've always liked the level synchs in other games (GW2 handled this really well) and I wasn't expecting this at all as I haven't really been following the expac development. Very pleasant surprise.
Vember Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) i like it - constant progression and I can take my time doing everything I want to do. Edited October 26, 2015 by Vember
Neglience Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 As a gamer who rather has new stuff than old stuff recycled - dislike.
StarGenji Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I like level sync. I can level wherever I want.
Burana Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I like it! Yes some content is "recycled" , but there is also a ton of new content on the core worlds. From what I can tell it makes it easier for the developer to roll out new content on the core worlds without disrupting the leveling process. I like it too. I have always skipped the bonus series, and I can do them now and level my char instead of running Makeb for 1000th time.
cyrusramsey Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I was dreading it. I actually like the concept of it, as becoming completely untouchable after outleveling a place seems less immersive than just being very overpowered, but the trick is that it was not always here, people make activities for themselves with the content they have available to them, then when that content gets changed, people may no longer be doing what they enjoyed, even if it makes sense. But... I like it. Regular enemies on lower levels are not challenging for a high level player, not in the slightest, and I see groups forming for world bosses several times per day now, I've really enjoyed joining in on those. Every time at least a few players will mention how they've never fought a world boss before. So far I am considering it one of the positives of 4.0.

TravelersWay Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 It's not as simple as like/dislike. As a concept, level syncing is a good idea - however, implementation is everything. It is implemented poorly here. This has already been discussed ad nauseum, but the "problems" that level sync "solves" can be taken care of in better ways than syncing. The reasons for having it can also be accomplished without making it carte Blanche mandatory. BW took the quick and easy path - we'll see if it leads down the dark path for the game or not in the future.
HelinCarnate Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 So far it seems the only reason people dislike it is because they either cannot 1 shot everything on lower level planets or because it was used as a means to recycle content while BW makes more new stuff. The second is not really a complaint against the sync, just the reasoning behind it.
