*KOTFE Spoilers* How Are We Returning To Planets?

Yeah so after I finished chapter 9, I get some quests to go back to Zakuul and recruit some followers, and other contacts.. Ok, I understand we returned to zakuul previously, but that was undercover, in a ship nobody would suspect, and it was before our characters face was plastered all over the local news.

After finishing chapter 9 though, and I'm sent back to Zakuul to recruit some bug-face scientist, a gand I think it was.. instead of taking another undercover ship, I fly in MY ship? what? wont that raise a crap-ton of suspicion? why wasn't I shot down the moment I went into orbit around Zakuul?

And why the hell is it ME going to zakuul? shouldn't I send 1 of my followers/recruits? as they don't have their face on a poster on every damn street sign on the planet...

Lastly, how are we returning to the old storyline planets to meet our contacts?, resistance fighers and such. are we being smuggled in by the same ship we use to sneak into one of those Star Forges? or are we once again just flying there in our ship? because I would imagine if the planet is barricaded like the story suggests, it would be pretty gosh darn hard to get in.. once again why isn't this a followers job?

Returning to the old planets and doing the old quests makes sense for me, it's accessing old content, like in WoW when you visit old content you can still do the old dailies, its like "frozen in time" so to speak (yeah sorry I went there and made a wow comparison, but I have played that game over a decade now so I use it for comparisons a lot ><) But going there and recruiting resistance fighters, it's obviously a post zakuul orbital station controlled planet, so that part makes little sense for me..

Urgh.. have I missed something? I'm giving myself a headache trying to make sense of it, I must be over-thinking it ><

Edit: 1 last question, when we use "travel to alert location" exactly how are we getting there? I know most wont care about this but the little things bug me lol. wait I think I already asked this.. argh

I think we can assume that in the chaos of chapter 1 our ship escaped with out being registered or linked to our character by Zakuul/Eternal Empire. By the time we see our ship again, it's been 5 years, a lot of time for it to not be linked to our character anymore. (Side note I would love a short story about the adventures of our ship and our ship droid, and Treek and HK-51, as it appears the last three stuck together all these years.)

I imagine when we fly to Zakuul we have clearance codes to dock at a space station, and then use local transport to get to the surface, either by being smuggled in or just blending in. As for not being detected, I would argue that the part of Zakuul we visit is the underworld where the codex states Arcann and even Valkorian did not really monitor to allow enough freedom for the people to not rebel. So while we can be spotted the likelihood is low. (Personally I always wear my Kreia's robes on my Jedi and Sith when I go there for those recruitment quest, just to make it feel more real xD ).

From what it appears, Zakuul has over taken the rest of the galaxy by force, but is managing it like a territory and not part of it's empire proper. Think of the Roman Empire and how it had outlying territories that were not completely under Roman authority or regulation. Same thing we see in the Galactic Empire in the movies on planets like Tatooine, where the Galactic Empire controls it but their presence is limited, and other powers like the Hutts rule the planet for the most part but they know who can or does ultimatly rule them, even if it is not formalized.

So we can think of the galaxy being like it was for the rebels in the movies, except that there is more breathing space and freedom because the controlling empire of Zakuul does not have the logistical means as of yet, as the Empire from the movies did. Not to mention we have more sympathizers to our cause or to our characters based on their history. The Sith Empire still has Sith, the Republic still has Jedi, and neither have been demonized yet, so the general populace and the two factions may be weakened and indirectly under Zakuul rule, they as of yet have no reason to turn their backs on our characters and thus we can seem to freely travel around the galaxy.

Thanks for the reply, yeah that makes sense, it's still a little weird to me, and I think they could've done a better job explaining exactly how we're landing right under the nose of such a powerful foe..

All you would have to do is change the ID signatures. Then it becomes literally any ship in the galaxy if you want it to. It doesn't have to be nearly that complicated.

Hah, I was thinking they would actually look at your ship to see what it looks like, didn't think of it that way..

Zakuul also has a weird attitude on control. This might be because the general population are some Culture type post-Singularity, post-scarcity existence. They have no clue what is going on and next-to-no involvement in the war. 99% of their troops are AI.

Punishing Zakuul's population for the war is wrong, in case the game hasn't made that clear to you yet.

The whole "Outlander" thing implies they never got visitors prior to attacking the galaxy, and the Knights view the Outlander as a law enforcement issue (because they don't understand anything else). They actually do expect you to surrender during your escape despite what you've done. Most criminals they get do surrender, since most can't scratch a Knight???

It's an odd society and not ready to be the center of the galaxy the PCs are from. And even there, keeping Sith off Coruscant is a pain and the underworld is just a fact.
