RK Starforged Blasters

Why have the sounds on the Starforged Blasters been changed? I equipped them on my elder toons because of the unique firing sound they made (definately not because of their looks and enormous size) and, as they now sound like any other blaster, I'm gonna have to pay to strip out the mods etc.

I do wish you guys would stop messing with stuff that doesn't affect gameplay.

I have read threads where people complained about the old sound. It sounded like you were hitting an inner-tube with a wrench or banging an empty plastic can... POONT! POONT!

That said, it WAS unique and the new sounds (heard on Dulfy's site) sound pretty much like every other blaster out there. While I wasn't a fan of the previous sound, the new one doesn't exactly sizzle, either. I suppose I'll take mediocre and same-old, same-old over 'bad' sounds, though.

I was sort of hoping for a more MAGNUM kind of sound, judging by the size and appearance of the gun.

I took it that they were responding to player feedback that complained about the old (terrible) sound:

I enjoy the look of it -- reminds me of Dirty Harry -- but I hate the sound it makes. I was really hoping I'd never get to hear it again in a new gun release.

The Starforged blaster looks awesome. Thank you.

That being said, could you please - for the love of all that is holy - make it sound like an actual weapon, rather than a child blowing paper bullets through a straw from MacDonalds?

Still sounds like a toilet flushing :S

Fingers crossed for the next one having a better sound.

The RK-4 Starforged Blaster looks great, but the sound is beyond horrible.:jawa_mad:

the RK-4 starforged blaster sounds like you are shooting a bucket and it is annoying. please fix its sound so it sound like a blaster, not bucket.

.

Did they have the same sound as the Rangehunter Blaster Pistol? They way you described it makes me think of that one, like your at the carnival and playing the game where you shoot ping pong balls out of that cannon thing :D

◆◆Edit◆◆ Yep, same sound!

POINK! POINK! POINK!

Dangit now i have to check and see if the changed the Rangehunter. I didnt like the sound at first but then i got used to it...

Heaven forbid we get a blaster that sounds unique, a handful of people don't like it so they change it.

Oh wait, that's just what Bioware does. The vocal minority complains and they change it.

Edit: Do the rangehunters still sound like that? If so, why haven't they been changed?

I they had complaints about the old sound then why not make a NEW blaster. Don't destroy something that those of us that already equipped actually like.

I think they forget that for each player complaining about looks/sounds ingame, there may be dozens of players quite happy with how things are. You don't normally hear from us for that very reason.

You can't satisfy everyone. Where have you been when so many complaints were posted on the forums? You could have said that you disagree with the rest. But what Bioware could see on the forums was only a great majority that didn't like it. Edited by PavSalco

Where have you been when so many complaints were posted on the forums?.

Why would I be looking on the forums for complaints about something I was quite happy with?

I can't see the logic in changing something that doesn't affect gameplay because of complaints. They must realise that there were players who are quite happy with the original sounds.

You know what i do if something that's purely cosmetic doesn't appeal to me? I don't winge about it, I use something else. If someone takes something away that I was more than happy with and, in the case of cartel market items, paid real money for, then I winge about it.

Old sound was kind of ****, so people complained about it and apparently Bioware listened to the complaints. It sounding **** is of course subject to opinion. But the opinion that it was a bad sound most likely got more support than the opinion that it was good. The majority of players never use the forums unless they have a complaint or are looking for a solution, so it's quite possible more people liked the old sound. But we'll most likely never know since even when people are upset about such a change, most still won't let it be known.

You're not gonna have to do anything.

The patch notes said the sounds would be changed..

Instead of changing the sound they should have released a new set of blasters that looked like the RK's but sounded different. That way everyone would be happy.

They could always go back and put in a "Classic RK Starforged Blaster" with the original sound.

the sound needs to go back to how it was. it came out with that sound and if people didn't like it? too bad.

Joking or trolling? If neither, you can just as easily say "The sound needs to stay the way it is now. They changed it to that sound and if people don't like it, too bad."

That's the exact same sound as my E-20 Sonic Saboteur !!! I've been using it for about 2 years now, and it is one the more rare guns to find, plus it's larger than the D-200 Military Enforcer.

Love the look of the RK Starforged blaster pistols but hated the sound.

It was a shame because I spent a reasonable amount hwhen they first came out to get one for my Powertech. A nice bulky manga influenced sidearm went really well with the single pistol restriction. It's always been a shame that you can't get a sound preview before purchase.

Kind of ironic that now the devs have fixed it I'll never hear it as they've removed 'Unload' from the Powertech which was the only pistol ability I really used... and then not so much for damage but casue I liked the 'Gangsta' animation.

There must be always, ALWAYS ppl complaining. So, I prefer the new sound, sounds much more like a blaster, and not like an empty can hitting the floor. For once, they changed something aesthetic for good. Me, like many others, think its better like this, so accept it and ENDURE IT, dammit

This isn't about which sound is better. This is about being able to buy a Cartel Market item and know that it won't be altered after purchase solely because some other people prefer a different version.

That's why I want to know from BioWare why the change was made.
