HG_Hulk_Smash
Seems to be a ton more gold spammers than before. Is there really no way to stop them? Is there a flaw with this engine? I dont see spammers nearly this bad in other mmos I play. Or are the Bioware/EA devs/team too consumed with other issues than to be bothered with a game several years old that is being bombarded on Imp FLeet with 5 spammers to every 1 real player? I sat here for 30 minutes watching chat, for every 1 or 2 players chatting, 5 or 6 spammers chimed in for gold sales. Am I correct to assume that Bioware/EA could care less about this? Djiini
You're definitely getting the go-ahead to confirm that I could care less about it. Is that unhelpful? Yeah. But DW told me I'm a troll so I have to keep up my image.

Since they use f2p accounts the only way to stop them would be to restrict f2ps from using chat and whisper all together. However, This isn't going to be done as it isn't fair to the f2p members of the community who have done nothing wrong.

Kalfear
Seems to be a ton more gold spammers than before. Not a shock EA has refused to take ANY steps at reducing/eliminating them and Yavin 4 is a Credit sellers wet dream come true for gathering credits in game (at the cost of other players game play while on Yavin 4) Yes the spam worse but are you really all that surprised when you think how accommodating EA has been towards credit sellers and their spam? Some people like to argue you can never truly get rid of credit sellers and their farming mules/spam. And technically that might be true. But there is no reason what so ever to not make their stay as uncomfortable and unprofitable as humanly possible. Other titles do it EA chooses not to Its only going to get worse before it ever gets better

However, This isn't going to be done as it isn't fair to the f2p members of the community who have done nothing wrong. They have to use subscription accounts to transfer the money Those are the accounts EA should be closing down nightly Allong with feeder accounts that fed the credits to the seller accounts F2P accounts can not mail large sums of credits and can not store large sums of credits PS: Game integrity is far more important the F2P freeloaders Edited March 8, 2015 by Kalfear
Anaesha
There truly isn't an effective way to stop gold sellers. Make the game sub only again they will just buy a sub just like in WoW, ban F2p accounts from using chat/whisper you are penalizing innocents as well, ban their account they simple make another. The ONLY way that I think would work is to beat them at their own game and offer players the option to purchase credits directly from BW. Doing this makes buying from BW more beneficial as one you do not risk getting your account banned and two purchasing from BW would be cheaper as they can use dev commands to generate the credits unlike the GSers who have to farm it. HG_Hulk_Smash
Is there nothing that can be done like an auto filter saw keywords like http://www.*website here* or free credits followed by www. I mean, they have auto filters for profanity, racism and such undesirable text, how hard, really, is it for a multi billion dollar company*and if EA/Bioware isnt worth that much Dinsey sure the hell is and they allow the game to stay up and granted the contract to EA to remain exclusive* can not find a way to limit it? I dislike naming other games in a forum, but I think to make my point, Ill do so here. Path of Exile is free to play*granted, not an mmo and different type of game altogther ESO* I only played for 60 days and came running home*to SWTOR* but didnt see half as much*not as popular?* Arch Age, I wont lie, I didnt play more than 3 days, but I didnt see any when I was there. Battlefield 4*hey, isnt that an EA owned game? No spammers there. H1Z1 not seen any chat spammers Rift Diablo 3, didnt see any Tried WOW for about 45 minutes, I DID see a bit of gold spammers there, but I am not a Panda lover. So maybe I notice it more here because I am more active here. I dunno, but they spammer need to level to 9 or 10 to hit Fleet. You would think when a certain line is repeated more than once or twice with key words, the smart filters would trigger. and I agree, I do NOT want to see free 2 play players muted over this. That would not be cool to punish the innocent over a few clowns. But I am sure Bioware could figure out a fix, if they really wanted to, but I guess its cheaper to let it be as it is and tell people ignore it, than actually fix it and make it a better community for all. Oh well, thought I'd ask. Edited March 8, 2015 by HG_Hulk_Smash

Allow me to give you a valuable insight to the business world (I am enrolled in a prestigious university in Florida in the business program) that will probably explain why they can't and wont waste their time with this. First, it costs them a considerable amount of money to develop some sort of filter that will detect the goldspammers and then silence them. But in addition to that, it doesn't turn any sort of profit whatsoever. The act of Bio silencing goldspammers will not suddenly generate extra revenues for their company, so it will inevitably be a loss. Second, of course they can do something! Much like the "vote to kick" feature in Warzones, people could report as spam, and if they get 'x' amount of votes (say 10 votes) to silence them, they will be muted in general chat. However, this feature can easily be abused (especially by a group, ops, or guild) that dislikes a certain player. It's not easy, nor is it their biggest concern. Players aren't quitting their subs and standing out in front of their headquarters protesting the goldspammers.
Cathalo
I usually have general chat disabled so I don't have to deal with the spam. If someone needs to communicate with me they can send me a tell or join a group. General chat is mostly garbage anyway even without the spam. Your only other options is to report and ignore the spammer. Edited March 8, 2015 by Cathalo
Rankyn
I sat here for 30 minutes watching chatWhy? If you're staring at chat for that long and not ignoring the spammers then it's your fault. Report. Ignore. Forget. Problem solved in less than 5 seconds. Zero developer time required. THAT is why they're never gonna fix it. There is nothing that they can do that will ever 100% stop the spammers. So instead, they've given us the tools to silence them. The only thing they really need to do is combine the report and ignore functions.

BrintoSFJ
Those who think gold spammer accounts are free to play must be living in delusion. f2p can't even send text message, forget about sending credits. They can only use general chat once every 1 minute, not every 10 second. You can go ahead and say they just hacked a subscriber account, if they did do you think the subscriber did not contact EAWare Austin to reset the account? It is simple really, they make at least 1000$ everyday, they can pay 15$ a month to spam chat for their business. And EAWare is not going to ban subscriber until they have been properly milked, like the 3 years old accounts that exploited ravager.

And III give you valuable insight how game really works, at any time there is EA employee present in game on every server 24/7. This person is not allowed by EA to make any action against gold spam. Why? If game was to good then people would not play other EA crap games. Edited March 8, 2015 by Sinisa
Halinalle
I rarely see any spam on fleet. I don't get any spam mail anymore. So much ignorance in this post. Bioware has been taken measures. Don't believe me? just pay attention to the spam and you will see the evidence right in the gold spam messages. The spammers are using "()" instead of "O" they are using "," in the place of "," they are replacing ".com" with ",kom" or ",cam" or ", c o m" Not tomention the insane use of special ascii characters. The gold spammers wouldn't be doing any of that if bioware wan't policing. But they are doing that which means that bioware has been putting in some form of chat policing which has forced to gold spammers to resort to more and more creative means of writing their messages in order to avoid detection. Actually a valid point if we're talking about Fleet Chat, if someone is on fleet with a Sith/Jedi and doesn't have a lightsaber they've done something moronic. True and at the same time not true. During the Xp weekends I remember people asking on fleet where they get their Sabers because they lvled up to fast and used their fleet pass before finishing their Korriban or Tython missions to get their sabers. Sinisa
Why they are not stopping it cause they are doing it, does not matter to EA how they get money, that is a rule of gold digger, they extract money from eveything and all those little % here and there add up in vast sum at the end. By selling gold from dummy 3rd parties they gain most profit cause they avoid paying taxes. Gold diggers are EA employees. You think that EA would allow someone to steal their money without limit. It is EA, Electronic Arts, Inc. (EA) thievery corporation that ruin people games from 99 on global scale. Millenium bug 2k that never got deleted, formatted, erased and exchanged into something decent and worthwhile, in this 15 years they destroyed, bought, crippled and thorn apart evey decent company within their sphere of work. They dont praise artistic or gameplay value only extraction of money of a period of time from one medium to another slightly reskined.
