How do people have 100k+ Prestige for their Strongholds?

I like to think I have a decent variety of stuff in my SH but it's only at 39k prestige. How are people getting their scores so high? I refuse to just clutter my SH with useless garbage everywhere but it seems that's how the majority of the SH's look that are at the top. I know the basic system gives you +100 for each new item and then +2 for each additional. What else goes into the score? I'm at 100% unlocked on Nar with 475/475 hooks filled.

Please don't tell me that's what I have to do to get a decent score. I only want it higher so people will visit and maybe give me some feedback on how it looks.

My understanding is that it doesn't matter what is physically in your stronghold, the prestige is the total of the unlocked decos.

So having lots and lots of unique items gets it high, since the first gives you 100 (really 200, since it is doubled for subs), and only 2 (really 4) for each addition copy of the same item.

There are a LOT of decos in the game, almost everything you can do drops them... for example, running the lvl 50 ops in SM, HM, and NiM grants a total of 9 different trophies (3 ops x 3 modes). Stuff like that adds up.

Then there are all the decos from the cartel packs, plus the ones you can buy on fleet, plus the ones that drop from all the various flashpoints and bonus bosses, and so on...

My NS one is 80% full; its total prestige is 84k if memory serves me right.

Regardless, if other people's approval or opinion is that important to you, maybe you could ask guildies or RL friends to check it out themselves or something?

Even if people in-game visit your stronghold or fancy it, they can't exactly vote it as the next wonder of the world or anything.

Might not be important to you, but I'd like for it to look nice. I'm not asking for others to vote on it, I'd simply rather not have to make mine look like the majority I see that are at the top. It's a pretty bad system if that's how it works.

edit: But as already mentioned, it doesn't really matter what's placed, more about what you've actual obtained and unlocked. I guess the people at the top have no real interest in making it look nice, just filling it up. Ah well, I was just hoping there was more to it than simply acquiring unique items regardless if they're actually placed or not.

Last I checked, there is nothing or no one preventing you from having a stronghold that looks nice.

I'm still not sure as to why it matters if you have your stronghold at the top or not.

Again, if you seek approval or an opinion, ask guildies or whatever to check your stronghold, and ask them what they think. Should be no biggie -- unless you can't trust them to be sincere.

Why have a ranking system in place if no one wants to try and be at the top? What's the point? Again, you might not care about something like that, but I do. Do you always question the motives of others if it's something you don't care about? Seems pretty dumb to me but w/e ya like, go for it.

My earlier contention is that you don't need to be at the top for people to offer their insights on your stronghold.

Reading attentively usually helps. Last I checked, by your own admission...

I only want it higher so people will visit and maybe give me some feedback on how it looks.

Your priority is for other people to give their opinion on your stronghold and visit it, not so much to be at the top.

Again, you might not care about something like that, but I do.

I never said I didn't personally care; I didn't say the opposite either.

Do you take issue with other people disputing whatever ramblings you post on the internet?

Judging from your reaction, it is fair to assume you do.

Prestige has nothing to do with the (perceived) quality of a stronghold's interior design.

It's calculated from two numbers:

stronghold completion x legacy prestige score (x2 for subscribers)

Legacy prestige score is increased by 100 points for the first copy of any item that you unlock. Each additional copy only gives 2 points. So basically Prestige is just an expression of how many hooks have been unlocked (and populated) and how many unique items you have unlocked (but not necessarily used anywhere).

If you want feedback on your stronghold, you have a better chance posting your designs on TOR-Decorating.com

Ah, good to know about that site. Wasn't aware of it. Appreciate the input.

I have almost 120K across my 4 strongholds. yes...all 4, all fully decked out. Your score increases by unlocking decor, and also (I think - I'm not 100% certain though) from swapping out pieces on your hooks. I started off with mostly "junk" decor, but as new stuff comes out, I always unlock at least one of just about every piece of decor that comes out and I "improve" the look of my places as better decor is released. If I really like the item, I'll unlock a few, or a lot (depending on the item). Mind you - all Stronghold Prestige is DOUBLED for being a sub. So in reality, I only have like 55K "personal" prestige.

Oh yea, there's also a small guild boost if I'm not mistaken.

Yea it's whatever that one guy posted..

It's your personal prestige score (tabbed by how many + what decos you have unlocked.. 100 for first, 2 for every one after) and then multiplied by your % completion of the SH... (x 2 for subs...)

My personal - 54,706

My SH Completion - 94%

My SH score - 103,472 (should actually be 102,847 but i'm guessing i'm at like 94.5555555% or w/e it is..)

I have 115.000 prestige for my Coruscant stronghold. And I have never even cared for these points, so it's not like I am working hard for it. All I did was unlocking all the rooms and trying to get one piece of every deco available in the game. I am still missing quite some decos, but it piled up during the months. My suggestion is therefore: Get as many decos (of different types) as possible.

Why are we so limited in how many hooks we can use? I'm 100% on Dromand Kass, but have dozens upon dozens of places I could still put things and it not look cluttered.

The worst offender is Tatooine. If you want to have it full you have to use only Starships, Centerpieces, Large Hooks and Medium hooks. Use even 50 small hooks and it looks as barren as the Dune Sea.

I have 160k+ prestige for my stronghold.

I also run operations, flashpoints etc (which the posters increase). Plus I generally buy most decorations that I can, which a lot are nice to decorate with and are usually pretty cheap (<500k).

Now, before you exclaim my SH is a cluttered, poster infested mess, think again.

I have zero posters (minus the ranked pvp one) and it is still 100% decorated. I am willing to say its the best in the galaxy :)

Its on Harbinger, Coruscant, Jourrno's Starfighter Lounge if you want to take a look.

Welcome to the internet where coin collecting is a stupid hobby if you ask the bug collector and snow skiing is stupid if you're a water skier. The internet can easily make you hate people. Or at least the people that frequent the internet.

Problem with ranking system or leaderboards is this:

http://steamcommunity.com/stats/264200/leaderboards/279139/

Yes, that is 2+ billion kills in survival. It starts to get too fast for normal human at 4k kills.

Some "gamers" will do anything to be #1.

I have 140k prestige for my strongholds. (bear in mind - boss kills from flashpoints and operations also count towards it)

of the deco's I have unlocked though I only use maybe 40%? its not specifically about prestige for me as it applies to other people's opinions, but rather becasue I like to collect things, just in case I may find use for them later... and because I want associated achievements.

so you can keep your strongholds nice and tidy and aesthetically pleasing and still have very high prestige.

P.S. I do use some posters in my DK stronghold, but they make sense thematically - since its the apartment my emperor's wrath and dark council member share.

Okay so clearly I have a long way to go with regards to collecting the various unique decorations that are out there. Just to take this a step further, if I have roughly 40k Prestige right now, and each additional unique is worth 100 (200 for sub), that means to get to 100k I still need to obtain roughly 300 additional unique items (300x200=60k) . And some of you have 150k? Crazy. There's obviously a LOT more decorations in the game than I thought...

This really just put into perspective how little I have collected thus far.

The cheaper repeats add up as well... They may not be as "good" as unique items, but enough of them add to the total.

For example, are you maxed out on the 50 decos each from the credit vendor? Have you gotten all the rep decos that you can from all the rep vendors? Do you only have 1 of each, or max of each?

It all adds up. :)

Shame there is no place to actually put them all. If the "hook" limit were removed and you could use every hook in the strongholds, it might drive more demand for decos. Most used to go for good prices, but I've found most of the prices have fallen over time, I suspect because people have no place to use decos anymore.

Yeah I have a good amount that are maxed at 50/50 and so on. I'm currently looking at one on Nar that's at 168k prestige. I thought when SH's were being demo'd via the streams by Musco and Tait, they said that we'd be able to look and see where specific decorations were obtained while visiting someone's SH. I know you can see it via the GTN and on your own, but not when you see them actually placed.

I guess I misunderstood but it would be really nice to have that option because a lot of them aren't on the GTN.

They actually did. I still remember that.

Jack Wood, the main Producer for Galactic Strongholds, also stated at one point people could use as many hooks as they wanted.

Look how that turned out.

Yeah, it's a bummer. Maybe something that'll happen down the road. Really do like the SH system in place overall but I guess it could still be fleshed out a bit more.
