New player...Guardian or Sentinel for a dps spec

Hi There

 

I have recently started playing and was wondering out of the 2 which is better to go for as you can not change after.

is Sentenel dps better than Guardian?...and also if i do decide to go guardian how badly is a tank needed in most cases or is the game full of them. I pretty much want a bad *** warior that can kill fast survive and get good numbers in pve...and be able to be versitile in some casual pvp

you'll have an easier time with the guardian.. it's a good pick for beginners.

sentinels are having some troubles right now and are a bit harder to play.

 

but both are fun.. my advice is start with a guardian then later on try a sentinel

 

I second that suggestion!

 

DPS Guardian is fun and tough!

You should play the Sent...Hahahahaha!

 

No, you should just play the Guardian as they can do either tanking or dps with this class depending on how you gear yourself. It will make grouping easier and give you more role options.

It gets annoying on my marauder to see him throwing people around left and right in cutscenes, but not having force push. I'm not sure why it was taken away from them in beta.

 

Sorcs and sins both kept their overload.

Go guardian.

I levelled a marauder (sentinel) because I already had a tank (assassin/shadow) and didn't want to find myself in a position where I *might* have to be a tank again, deliberately limiting my options you could call it.

 

Sentinels/Marauders are in a rubbish place now to say the least. They have the least time on target of all DPS, least knock back/stun cc counters and really struggle to stop themselves being kited. You tend to find you leap in, get knocked back and then spend the rest of the fight kited. Melee DPS is the same for every game in that you get punished hardest in most PVE events, ranged DPS by contrast especially here has it easy.

 

Where I'm going with this is this, Jugg/Guardian has more time on target, better resistances to crowd control and better immunities to keep their DPS up. They can also tank, which even if you don't want to tank, is useful if you find yourself unable to get groups later on in the game and are willing to compromise (content for spec)
