JWagner
The simplest [and only] way to bypass the code is to get / use an authenticator. Plus you get CC rewards for having it. It's a win/win. Yes, it's still a code. But it's a code you control, rather than rely on and check your email. It exists for security, and can't blame them for implementing it. It just asks for the code in such random spots, which I think is it's main downfall.
Jerba
I can confirm that getting an authenticator is great, you get free 100 CC each month, access to an exclusive vendor in-game and don't ever have to deal with one time passwords again. There are two types of security keys: The physical one that you carry around with yourself. It has a built-in battery and you just press a button and it shows you a number that you enter during login. Unfortunately, the physical authenticator is no longer produced and no longer sold, but you may still find one sold in some other place. The digital one for your iPhone or Android smartphone. It is a free app (but only usable by subscribers) that you install on your smartphone and then every time you login, you just open the app and get the code it displays on there. In both cases, you'll need to carry around either the authenticator or your smartphone, but it ensures that only the person holding the authenticator or your smartphone will be able to login and control your characters. I'd rather be on the safe side than risk someone deleting my characters. Edited March 4, 2015 by Jerba

Yep you can't get the Physical sec keys anymore which I find annoying I much prefer the physical keys over the digital phone keys as cell phones are not exactly as secure as the people foolishly believe them to be. I was actually just looking for them. I had one when I bought the game, but it has since suffered damage and no longer works. I was hoping to replace it and put it on my keyring again, but the closest I found was a private seller on Amazon for $75...

EA/BW needs to rethink this idea of using only the digital sec keys.

I think you might be a wee bit too paranoid about security. Its not a bad thing, and you aren't wrong about the security of a cell phone, but the chances of someone compromising both your cell phone and your game account are so low that they can effectively be considered almost entirely non-existent. In this age no single device or system is secure. The idea is to create layers of security that make compromising something require breaching those multiple layers. While each individual layer has unique vulnerabilities, the total sum of all layers make breaching the system increasingly more difficult.
Almhath
I always get asked for the one-time password EVERY TIME I log on, for a LONG TIME now. I've called them on the phone to complain, but it still happens. No one has ever used my account... No history of compromises. They're just doing it against my will. Jerba
They're just doing it against my will. They're just protecting you. Same reason why banks will block suspicious charges on your credit card even though you want to pay for it. It doesn't matter what the consumer thinks, it comes down to the bottom line. In the off chance that your account gets compromised, you'll be the first person to call Customer Service and ask for your account to be restored. They just rather go for more security instead of risking having to deal with compromised accounts.
