FeistierGecko
Hey yall! I am very new to whole posting on a forum, so please excuse me if I miss any of the etiquette. Now, my questions is a relatively straight-forward one: I have some weapons from the cartel market (starforged blaster pistol and rifle) that I am trying to use for me characters (bounty hunter and imperial agent respectively). I hae the weapons equipped and they are working great, but I am starting to notice that the randomly dropped weapons I get from quests and flashpoints are more powerful than what I have equipped. I know that you can add mods to your weapon, and I have done that. It helps, but doesn't completely remedy the problem. The question that I really want to ask is: "How do you keep the cartel market weapons relevant for you character as they level up?" Is there a way to increase the damage output of the weapon itself (i.e. increasing its base minimum and maximum damage)? If anyone has the answer to these questions please let me know. Thanks in advance and hope you all have fun online!
JWagner
I actually always thought the base stats [damage] increased based on the level of the mods in the weapon, If not, then I have been playing the game wrong all this time
FeistierGecko
You may very well be right. I am fairly new to the game so maybe I am just looking in the wrong place for the changes haha. Thanks for the heads up though, I will be sure to look into it!
JWagner
http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=711012 It definitely seems relevant to the hilt/barrel that determines the min level. Just keep it equal to your level and it should scale up.
FeistierGecko
Rodger that. Hey thanks for all of your help!
JediQuaker
Like any piece of mod-able gear, your mod-able weapon(s) should be kept up to date. That is, you should put newer, better mods on them as your level increases, and the "level" of the mods should match your own level. For weapons, that means a hilt/barrel, "mod", enhancement, and color crystal. You can also add an augment slot. So, there's more than just the hilt/barrel to consider. For the color crystal, this means eventually getting a crystal with a +41 stat of some type - these can either be level 50 ones that are crafted or bought, or Cartel Market ones that are level 10. Timorelle
I have to echo that it is absolutely about the hilts and barrels. They are so, SO easy to forget about, since you're always juggling as many as 7-9 pieces at a time (if you're in full oranges) of armoring, mods AND enhancements, you often forget about that little hilt or barrel that you only need one or two of. To a lesser extent, don't forget about color crystals. Personally I find it worth it to just blow the credits on the level 10, +41 purples for alts. They may seem super-pricey, but it's awfully nice having that huge boost when you're a tiny level *and* not having to worry about your crystals again the entire time you're leveling. Watch the enemies MELT.
