Make Treek less Annoying

Treek is a highly effective companion, seems to be the best healer out there which my tank loves. What my tank does not love is Treek’s high pitched and high volume battle cries in the annoying language of the Ewoks. OMG the most annoying sound in the entire game after 5 minutes of it. Please adjust this in some manner as I find this companion very hard to work with.

Do a topic search next time.

Treek is not annoying to everyone. I think she has the most entertaining personality of all the companions.

I love to hear Treek battle chatter. I wish she talked more.

An Ewok should sound like an Ewok.

If you find her annoying then just lower the voice track level.

Treek is not annoying to everyone.

Maybe in the same way that 9/11 wasn't a tragedy to everyone. Sure, some people don't agree with the vast majority opinion, but it's still a MAJORITY.

Anyway, Treek being annoying is part of her balancing.

Just saying, if you've got the 192 gear on Treek it actually deepens her voice and softens it a bit from the usual if you don't hide the head slot. If you can't get the 192 companion gear, then get any normal trooper/mando style helmet or sith muzzle to give the same effect. This works particularly well if you put Treek in one of the customizations with the gas mask. Its not a great fix, but isn't as high pitched as her normal tones.

As for Treek's chatter in general, I'm rather fond of hearing her tell NPC's that she's going to take their bits for trophies.

I personally don't mind her 'chatter" it's not really all that much of a problem, most times I find it kind of funny or cute, the rest of the time I pay no attention to it. You might well ask for 23 more "Death Grunts" from NPC's because they are just as repetitive as Treek is.

My biggest problem with Treek is, I just can't bring myself to use her on my Big tough mean Sith Warrior. Makes me giggle to much seeing a "Dark Lord of the Sith" running around with an Ewok!

Agreed, we need more death grunts.

On the topic: I prefer Treeks ramblings, for me its funny as hell.

Who doesn't like things like:

"You are big and stupid!"

"You are weaker than a munyip!"

"Another stupid foe gone! Bring more!"

"My fate is your destruction!"

Every character i own runs with Treek.

"Treek Mute" as a legacy perk, cartel item, option, whatever, would be a welcome addition.

Let's be fair and make it a "Companion Mute" option.

I find myself quite fond of the silent ship droid as a pocket healer for leveling and dailies now that he can be equipped with a mainhand. (Still not high-end, but serves the purpose in standard situations.)

LOL, That little fur ball cracks me up. But she can get on my nerves SOMETIMES, and when that happens. I simply turn the VOLUME DOWN. WOW can you believe it? Its just that easy to stop the insanity....... :D

You gotta remember that it's hard for some MMO players to use the volume knob because they get uncomfortable with anything that has knobs on them

Yes, you could just turn the volume down. Heck, you can even register new shortcut keys for muting via windows to avoid these knobs of which you speak. There are a bunch of different ways to work around the "Treek is annoying" issue. However, muting the entire computer simply because a companion is excessively high pitched is... well excessive.

Narrowing it down, you can go into the volume panel and mute just SWTOR. Again, excessive.

You can go into the game's control panel (CTRL + S [unless you've remapped it]) and mute the game. Now you just have to remember to re-enable it if you are doing anything that relies on sound cues. Once more excessive, albeit not as far as the entire computer.

Simply allowing the user to disable ONLY the companion voice is a far more elegant solution than killing the sound to the entire program or computer.

Why don't we have a UI check box for enabling or disabling every game single game feature? We could have a UI with 100s of check boxes. That would be so cool.

I honestly cannot understand why this wasn't an option at launch, much less now. There's an option to auto-skip cut scenes but not mute the mindless repetitive companion chatter?

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm inclined to agree with the OP here. Treek is extremely effective. But listening to her babble during and after fights is the equivalent of listening to goo-goo-ga-ga baby talk for hours. Even sending her on crafting quests, I get more and more annoyed on every quest return. I shouldn't have to mute the entire game to enjoy questing. I mean, the cinematics are what sets this game apart from most others.

Now I know Treek is cute to many of you, but well.... just because everybody thinks their baby is cute doesn't mean there are no ugly babies in this world.

A general "Companion Mute" button would really enhance the enjoyability of this game, and probably wouldn't be all that hard to implement. Just my $0.02.
