The Darksaber was unique within the lore for both saber shape and color. Even ignoring the blade shape and color, it is still a unique, named weapon, and BioWare seems to have gone away from unique, named weapons since the days of the Old Tionese, Columi, and Rakata, partly because it makes absolutely no sense, in terms of lore, to have 800 Assassins and 300 Shadows running around with Darth Bandon's Lightsaber, for the same reason that it would make no sense lorewise for 500 Juggs, and 300 Guardians to be running around with this (or worse still, a single mara or sent running with 2 of them), considering that only one of these sabers has ever existed.

Plus, following the lore behind this weapon, if it even exists this far back in SW history, it's most likely locked away in some Jedi vault somewhere.

Also, they'd have to get permission from LucasArts to use anything directly from canon in an EU project, even an officially licensed one, and that permission would probably not come cheap.

I was thinking from what pre vizla said in the clone wars show was that the mandalorians took it from the jedi during the mandalorian wars or during the time period you swtor character is set in.

Based on the wookieepedia entry, there's no hard date set as to when it was taken. just a "period of decline" in Republic power. It could have been during the Mando Wars, it could have been during the sacking of coruscant, or it could have been thousands of years later during the New Sith Wars, or really any time between when lightsabers were first created and a few generations before we see Tor Viszla with it in 60 BBY.

This saber made appearances in seven episodes of The Clone Wars, and 3 other The Clone Wars related works.

OP got that image from a Wookieepedia article. It's filled with background information the OP failed to mention or link.

Excellent and valuable contribution to the thread. I'm sure the OP must be worshipping you right now since you are apparently so wise and knowledgeable.

Yes backed up perhaps by the quote on the wiki:

"This lightsaber was stolen from your Jedi Temple by my ancestors during the fall of the Old Republic. Since then many Jedi have died upon its blade. Prepare yourself to join them!"

―Pre Vizsla to Obi-Wan Kenobi

Seems to imply taken during the fall of the Jedi Temple to Malgus' forces in the novel Deceived that sets as a prequel to SWToR ( worth reading all the novels in this series if you enjoy the story content of SWToR ).

Also the name Vizsla so close to Vizla ( Shae ) who participated in said raid. I guess it's possible the name adapted over the ages as names tend to do?

If we go by that quote, then it would have been taken from the temple around 1000 BBY, perhaps a few years earlier, as the Ruusan Reformations that dissolved the Old Republic, and formed the Galactic Republic took place at that time. This would also seem to fit, as it was at this time that the Jedi turned from being an Army of the Republic to being Galactic Peacekeepers.

Yeah, you'll totally break the immersion of having 500 Heroes of Tython running around.

Do you listen to the things you say?
