Why is there so much betraying from the leaders of the Sith empire and also the Pup?

I mean Malgus, Baras and the dude from the new expansion the dread masters all betrayed the empire and they were freaking leaders of the empire. What is with the sith empire that makes their leaders betray it. And in the Republic the former high chancellor, the best elite soldiers the Republic had and different high profile members of the Republic military and the Jedi order. And all of them with the intention of making or helping in making a new world order.

Do they not think about the logistical problems that such a think has. After all the empire had to stay hundreds of years in seclusion to gather the resources and the military to challenge and defeat the Republic and they still failed to defeat it. Even now when they destroy a important strategic point of the Republic, the Republic does the same thing to the empire. So why do they betray the ones who made them who they are/were?

The reasoning for the Sith is rather easy actually, they are all in it for themselves (Malgus to a lesser degree) but they spend their lives steeped in negative emotions, hate, fear and those tend to breed paranoia not a team building recipe. Then toss in the Sith philosophy of everyman in it for their own power, your expected to kill your superiors when you can in order to advance into their spots while watching everyone behind you cause they'll planning on doing the same thing to you.
