Did they fix the inability to do this as a group quest?

With the patch or are we stuck at individual instances?

I won't be able to log on for a few days and can find no information on this. I'm rather surprised there isn't more of an outcry but it seems I'm the oddball doing missions, while grouped.

I am 99% sure they will not change this, it is working as intended.

All the story phases and conversations attached to them are designed as single player. For them to add a group conversation, they'd have to add more conversation options, write them, translate them, record them.

If they wanted to have the story to be completable by a group, they'd have had to design it that way from the start. They won't change it now that it is released.

Why no mention of this prior? This flies in the face of the way things have been done for 3 years. Also, would they really have to add more? Most missions we all have the same choices and the voicework has already been done for each class/gender for the individual ones.

This is just as big of a change as the skill tree, yet no mention of anything related. This game was sold on "story" more than anything and I can't see any reason why this would just be changed for poop and giggles.

Yes, there are always different conversations. The NPCs address you differently if you are a single player or a group, in pretty much any old planetary quest line from SWTOR. In the SoR story, there are different conversation depending on your class and depending on whether or not you did the prelude. If there are players with different classes, they wouldn't be able to include so many responses specific to certain classes.

All in all, I don't think it's fair to say that SoR is less story than the previous patches; to the contrary, the story is now more realistic due to single player mode.

you can enter other people´s class mission phase in either case, and you can enable the allow same class entry in the preference, which makes other people of same class can enter and help you to fight, they´ll even appear in the cutscene just won´t have conversation choices.

These aren't class missions though. These are world missions. Every world mission, until now, has allowed grouping and all members get credit, assuming they are up to that mission and haven't done it.

I don't think there is "less story" it just isn't the story the game has been sold on-and operated on-in the last 3 years.

I see what you mean about where you are in different parts of the quest chain but if they were going to make this much of a fundamental change, in the way story was told, there should have been some mention of it.

I loved the story but hated doing it. I don't play solo and I don't like repeating content (why I loathe dailies.)

At least with the planetary quests previously, it was a different character repeating them. It is nuts that I have to kill a main boss, then only talk to the people, then I get the "fun" of watching someone else do it-all so we can progress.

If the game was like this all over, it wouldn't be that big of a deal-it's not though.

If this is the future of TOR, not sure I can stick with it much longer. The story is what kept me here. The gear grind is pointless-since all end game gear is identical to the rest, all crafting is identical etc-so the story was the ONLY thing I keep subbing for. Now that my wife and I (this doesn't bother her that much, she likes repetitive content) have to "separate" to do a world story, there is no need for us to even play together. It was fun seeing which choice got the higher roll. Now, no social points..we just get to silently watch...wow, so much fun.

I do appreciate the information but I'm really upset about this and the face Bioware won't even comment on such a fundamental shift in how things are done, really shows me they really don't give a rip about players that came here for the story.

I am sorry but not being able to do the story in a group is stupid. Grouping is an essential part of an MMO, no matter how story focused. The lack of herois is mind boggling as well.

It's actually "anti-story" not to be able to do it in a group. One of the concerns, pre-launch, was this exact problem. We were told "no, that won't be a problem...." and they explained the group conversation dynamic. People seemed pleased.

I actually, couldn't care one bit. I very much prefer it this way, the only loss were the social points. I could use those :(

The loss is also repeating the same thing. That's not content. That's boring. There is also the fun of being outvoted in your choice. I actually liked that competition.

I don't know, I always raged whenever I had an interesting choice and someone just went with the most utterly boring DS answer ever. You know, the dumb DS choices, the ones that are basically just "I r evilz"

I hear ya and I don't mind the "choice" to play as a single player instance but to change a fundamental way the game is played, without a single note or prior word is VERY sad and disappointing.
