Alyssis
So, this thing is supposed to spread the dots.. I have tried this a couple of times now, and it seems that if you put up the two dots on a target, and the target dies of force in balance, the dots wont spread. Is this intended? Anyone else noticed this?
Sarafain
This is the same thing when your melee hit kills a mob and you don't Raze proc. I'm guessing it's intended as it was never changed in 2.0-3.0.
Evolixe
That's just how it works. Make sure at least one target in your FiB has dot's and won't die from it. Also, you can't refresh dots with FiB. Only apply them. So for optimal dotrolling, you will want to wait for off-dots to fall off before FiBing a pack again. This is obviously only worth it if you're spreading dots to more than 1 added target (main target + 2 minimal) for the wait to be worth it. They also have to live for a certain amount of time to make the wait worth it, but I haven't calculated how long that is yet. I'll get around to it at some point, probably after the holidays here in America.

If the target doesn't die because you didn't redot it you will hate yourself.

If the target doesn't die because you didn't redot it you will hate yourself. In PvP, yeah, it almost goes without saying, Death Field itself isn't worth enough damage to justify not re-dotting. For PvE, though, there's some function of remaining enemy health that tells you whether or not it's worth it to re-dot or just Death Field on CD.
