BaronV
Not to be pedantic but isn't the planet supposed to be called Yavin IV (with the roman numeral) nor Yavin 4? Ive seen books and references from the old days using the roman numeral and it really bugs me to see it written as Yavin 4 (just like its supposed to be called Nal Hutta and not just Hutta)
Darth_Wicked
Not to be pedantic but isn't the planet supposed to be called Yavin IV (with the roman numeral) nor Yavin 4? Not to be pedantic, but Yavin 4 is actually a moon, NOT a planet. You also wrote "Yavn" in the title thread. If you wanna nitpick, do it right. CapWinterz
Yavin 4 is faster to type then Yavin IV, and at the end of the day it means the same thing.

TheNahash
Judging by some extremely... ehm... intelligent posts in this forum, I highly doubt a big part of the player base knows that IV is number 4 in latin. CapWinterz
not really mate its a name. CapWintrs is faster to type and means the same thing right? Apples and oranges, IV means the number 4, 4 also means the number 4, so using 4 instead of IV means the same thing, you are changing letters and asking if they are the same. Kalfear
Ive seen books and references from the old days using the roman numeral and it really bugs me to see it written as Yavin 4 (just like its supposed to be called Nal Hutta and not just Hutta) unless you saw it in the 6 movies (or that terrible cartoon Clone Wars) nothing you read or referenced matters now Its what Disney decides it is as the only things they recognize as official or correct is the 6 movies and the Clone wars cartoon (lord help us all) Star Wars fans really need to get through head that all those novels, comics, games, references dont matter for squat anymore as NONE are recognized as official Canon now. It is what it is and people need to get with program already. Judging by some extremely... ehm... intelligent posts in this forum, I highly doubt a big part of the player base knows that IV is number 4 in latin. LOL you might be on to something there as well
wainot-keel
not really mate its a name. CapWintrs is faster to type and means the same thing right? meh... I never type Yavin 4. Let alone Yavin IV (well, except now ). Not only longer, but it requires shifting caps and everything. A huge hassle. And it's not like there are other Yavins in the game that we need to be specific with the number so we know were talking about the same place. 'Yavin' it's plenty. Turajin
not really mate its a name. Actually no, it is not a name. It's an identifier or a designation. All it does say is "it's the 4th moon of the planet Yavin". So you can say/write Yavin IV, Yavin 4, Yavin four, Yavin's 4th moon, the 4th natural satelite orbiting the Planet Yavin, etc. etc. etc. It is, by no means, a name similar to Han Solo or Luke Skywalker, where exact phrasing is important. If that moon had a name, it would be called Io (who can also be called Jupiter I) or Ganymed (wha can be called Jupiter II, or Jupiter 3), or, to stay in the Star Wars Universe, Nar Schadda, wich is one of 5 moons orbitting hutta, and thus could be also called hutta 1, 2, 3 etc., depending on wich orbit he is - didn't find any reference on how close/far away from hutta that moon is and wether the other moons are closer or farer away. PLynkes
Considering that neither Roman nor Indo-Arabic numerals seem to exist in Star Wars, it is a pretty stupid thing to be arguing about, because what you are arguing over is simply a translation convention. AlrikFassbauer
Me, I'm actually able to read roman numbers - and I - honestly - don't care which literal expression / symbolization the counting number of what we call "four" regarding this particular moon has. To put it a bit extremely. Edited December 9, 2014 by AlrikFassbauer
TheSeventhJedi
If we're going to be picking nits, in the MOVIE (you know, the supreme canon,) it's never called Yavin 4 or Yavin IV or Yavin Four - it's "The Fourth Moon of Yavin." People need to quit assuming it doesn't have a name of it's own! I mean, how do we know it's not named Treebeard Pancakes VII? We don't. TL;DR - EU is dead, things are in flux, game lore doesn't matter.

RPsus
As RPsus, it saddens me to see biowate ruin the lore by misnaming Yavin IV, but as a human it saddens me to see OP call it Yavn IV, a sad day for the glory of roleplaying.
Silverspar
unless you saw it in the 6 movies (or that terrible cartoon Clone Wars) nothing you read or referenced matters now Its what Disney decides it is as the only things they recognize as official or correct is the 6 movies and the Clone wars cartoon (lord help us all) Well, obvious you never watched the Clone Wars then if you think it is bad. Walk away now. But then again, you probably also think Disney is terrible, and only makes kiddie shows or something to. Even though they made the Avengers movie, most of the Marvel movies in recent franchise, and anything under their Lionsgate logo (oh yea, did people forget to tell you that Lionsgate is owned by Disney?)
