BaronV
So I know that BW's intention is to make sorcs ultra fragile glass cannons (esp for DPS sorcs). Fine thats the nature of the class. However Im feeling that the damage sorcs take is now pretty excessive. Coupled with the fact that some mobs hit really hard im finding that im having to spend an awful lot of effort and time on just self preservation. I know, i know we have these little new self healing abilities like Force Leech and what not, but in the current form the ammount of damage we are taking is making the gameplay not at all fun. Most of the time its okay, the increased damage we do means that you just have to burn the mob down faster, but its very common to end fights at 20% HP or lower (strongs/silvers anyone?). Throw in the longer interrupt cooldowns, longer knockback durations and the server lag and some fights are just impossible because we just take so much damage so quickly that we cant respond to it fast enough. A good example would be the chiss commandant (forgot his name) on Yavin 4 and the Champion Grophet on Rishi. In the case of the commandant he always starts the fight in this order: Force Leap -> (painful) knockback -> Force choke. My HP plummets to 40% with just two hits - TWO hits! and you cant respond to it fast enough since if i use my stun breaker on the knockback, then Im screwed with the force choke. No class should have their HP down to 40% after 3 seconds of fighting... And before anyone asks, im a lvl 60 Sorc, madness spec, in 178-186 gear. So I ask the community - don't you think sorcs are a wee bit too fragile now?
dcaleb
Static barrier and that invulnerability bubble are your friend, especially if you take the utility that makes them regenerate your health while active. But yeah, if you don't watch it you will get wrecked. That is the price we Sorcerer's pay for being lightning spewing murder gods.* *My main is a Madness Sorcerer Edit: Also, I suggest the strategy of sending your companion to deal the first blow. Usually they will then suffer the initial wrath of your enemy. Edited December 9, 2014 by dcaleb
Grayseven
I didn't feel fragile at all on my Sorc. In fact when I tried out the two dps spec's I found myself having an absolute blast. Sorc's have never been horribly durable, but being a glass cannon has it's advantages.
revial
I sincerely hope this is a troll post. Because...I honestly can't remember when Sorcs ever had it better. I'm fully expecting to be nerfed, but I also fully assume the dev team has like two people on it, so we may be able to enjoy things for a while. Healing sorcs have like 9 lives and are damn near impossible to kill if one of your cc/stuns is on cooldown. DPS sorcs with all their escape/kiting tools now make it even more frustrating as a melee toon to stay in range. I I actually changed my utilities purely to try and be more competitive with sorcs. Glorthox
I have noticed at lower levels, that silver enemies are hitting way harder than elite ones. In some cases I am being hit harder than normal. But I always seem to power my way through things. The Op has a point to a degree, but then again with all the changes, maybe it is just a learning curve.
BaronV
Im talking about pve not pvp and no this is not a troll post. Im well aware that sorcs are topping the pvp boards but i couldnt care less about pvp. If sorcs are not too fragile then some mobs hit too hard plain and simple. Did you not read what i said about dropping to 40% hp with 2 hits? Edited December 9, 2014 by BaronV
zechio
... A good example would be the chiss commandant (forgot his name) on Yavin 4 and the Champion Grophet on Rishi.... I don't think they do make a good example. I found them extremely easy to solo. I did not send HK in first, I did not use invincibility, I barely even healed. A few sprints to keep some range was the main thing. 60 sorc, at the time just a full set of the 186 gear, no augs. Old level 50 relics with equally old augments, and somewhat old implants that I hadn't bought yet. ( Something like 168 ) The lag also makes this much easier if you stay ahead of it. The lag is server side, so it affects the AI much worse. Often they will stand there for a long time taking a beating, before finally moving towards me. Sprint away and resume dealing death. ( I killed 1 of the named grophets for the datacrons like this. I think I got hit twice the entire fight. ) I am a madness sorc, so I remain pretty mobile. Any time I'm not using FL I'm moving. Keep bubble up at all times. If you took damage once, remember to refresh it. I also have a reusable medpack. Check that your utility spec is the most ideal for the situation. Improved static barrier, heal on overload, improved unnatural preservation, cloud mind damage reduction ( Never used it on those fights, but very useful for others. ), etc. Don't bother with the CC type stuff, since most mobs that are tough are immune ( bubble stun, overload root, reduced cooldown, etc. )
BaronV
So I read a post in another thread where apparently un-equipping all gear and re-equipping your gear can fix the damage spikes. Could be some sort of bug going on. Will give it a try and see if that helps
Dedd
Take into consideration my Sorc is only lvl13 as i restarted him, about 3 times lol He is on Lightning tree and he feels like a god .. mind you i tend to open by AoE a group that i know i can take, if anything i feel less safe on the other classes
Scatmanworlds
im finding it a lot easyer to win pvp fights even as madness. only ones that tend to screw me over are gunslingers that stealth out and heal while im stuck in combat.... static bubble with the tree buffs absorbs around 15 to 20k damage. it also heals you for 2% per second. you also have 2 instant heals, one for 30% of your total hp. on top of that you get heals from your dots. if you need to you have a full force pool to hit polarity shift with and spam you cast heal with a few times. if all else fails, you have force barrier which heals for 8% per second and grants you 4 hits worth of immunity while still healing and usually allows your self heal to come off cooldown for another 30% self heal.
