I'm sort of lost

Hey Guys,

So I played right on launch and got to level 50 without finishing the main story...recently I came back and finished my main story and levelled some alts and my main is now 55.

My Gear is 140 with purple I think level 25 mods (or 28 whatever the highest I could buy with normal coms pre-expansion). I haven't done any of the Ilum flashpoints, or any of the Rise of the Hutts (which I what I assume is Makeb when people discuss it).

My question is this

What the heck should I do? My main is poorly geared I gather as he is 140 and you guys are talking about 192 gear sets my companions are even worse...if I do Rise of the Hutts will I get better gear (ideally just better mods as I have sweet looking robes) my Lightsaber has a cartel market crystal +41 power...is that decent?

Actually I guess my real question is there a place I can learn what FP's I can do solo, what I should be doing to get myself ready to do the new expansion content, is there a site that gives like a guide on how to enter into endgame?

If you have comms, you can buy L172 gear on L55. If you are not L55, you can go do Makeb with the GSI booster. It is a satellite dish it gives you equivalent of 156 gear while on Makeb with the buff.

If you don't have comms, arriving to Rishi will grant you comms. You can always go backwards and grind comms, if you want to.

You can try FA flashpoint solo in 140 with a god droid. It might be doable. That will give you 168 gear.

41 crystal is still a BiS and will stay that.

The new expansion is accessible to everyone no matter what gear they use due to bolster and god bot helping you in the solo flashpoints. Also ends up giving you a set of 162,168,178 gear to help your character progress. Edited by NecroMayre

If I just go do Makeb will that grant me any gear for doing it? Like enough to do the FA flashes?

I find this game hard to know what is good gear vs bad (I'm noob)

With the expansion you can do the FA flashpoints solo mode no matter your gear since it bolsters you and gives you a set of 162 gear to do the SoR story.

You should still do Makeb of course for story but the gear it gives you won't be better than the 140 you're using.

Personally, I'd stay clear of Rishi to begin with. The content isn't going anywhere and so much of the previous content will be new to you anyway.

I'd head to Makeb... you can use the bolster terminals, which will fill in any gearing issues you may have and just re-learn your class on a slightly lower levelled, less crowded and much more content rich planet. You will pick up a stack of comms, probably more than RIshi, almost definitely more per hour spent.

Once finished with that... you can further fill out any gearing gaps with Oricon and CZ-198. Both level 55, both nice little areas - short daily areas with weekly quests and heroics or flashpoints.

To be honest, you will probably be 60 by then if not shortly after that anyway and know your class better and be more comfortable with setting your own objectives etc. As for soloing flashpoints etc, which you mention, try them... no harm, no fowl. At 55 you could be soloing all level 50 content regardless of difficulty (Ops excepted) and its the same at 60... not too sure yet of 55 content, but probably there or thereabouts. Dulfy.com is the current go to place for guides.

You leveled to 55 without doing Hutt Cartel/Makeb? *blink*

Anyway, in case the previous posts weren't clear, doing Makeb isn't going to really gear you. It provides you a buff instead, that simulates you being decently geared, but that buff only works on Makeb.

For solo content such as questing in the open world for experience, any gear at all your level is fine. So, at 55, green 55s are fine.

Makeb has a GSI support terminal you can click at any of the bases to effectively buff your gear to well above makeb level, letting you fairly steam roll that content. ( This only works on Makeb though. ) The solo tactical flashpoints, which are part of the new expansions story line, are 1 time deals but will bolster you and give you an epic companion bot ( as well as your normal companion ).

When people are talking about 192 gear, they mean gear obtained from raiding in the new expansion at level 60.

Most all gear now is slotted, which means if you want to keep any appearance you want, it'll just cost some money to strip out the mods and add them to your old gear. ( All gear that matters IS slotted, for this very purpose. )

Thank you all for the replies it has been very helpful and I appreciate it...

To recap

Go to Makeb

- Get the GSI buff so that my current crap gear is buffed to be less crappy crap

- Then because I have all of that content I'll probably be lvl 60 of thereabouts...run the FP's that are 50 and the Forged solo versions to get better gear. If I still have gear gaps do Oricon and C2-3wtf was the name (lol)

- Then I could do rishi which gives me better gear through out anyway.

How close was I?

I did indeed lol...this forum is so much more helpful then most MMO's websites

Anyone care to explain Augmentation to me? I have a synthweaver at 450 should I augment all my gear or wait till I have my new standard set

and what are gear set bonuses...wait that may be obvious (have all one set and you get a bonus?)

I personally wouldn't worry overly about gear - just play the game is what I meant... makeb (gear not really needed, which is why its nice) and the Oricon and CZ... small areas, give you comms.

Gear is just what happens through play... once you got your feet and know what youre doing... then focus on gearing up.
