Ksyndrir
I am running into a serious problem with my level 37 Shadow. I am currently using an artifact weapon and wearing artifact gear, all with rare (blue) upgrades that are also level 37. All of my gear is completely up to date with my off-hand shield being a rare level 35 piece. I'm working on the class quest in Atiss Station and I'm fighting groups of 2 strong mobs (silver veteran emblem) and a standard foe as Infiltration, yet I am getting the crap absolutely beaten out of me every time. I can take down the standard unit in just a few hits, but by the time I swing onto one of the veterans I can get it to about half health before I'm killed. I have tried Mind Maze and Force Lift and Force Stun but it isn't enough. It just feels like I am being hit way too hard and I'm not doing enough damage to compensate. Is anyone else running into this problem with other groups while leveling? (I have no idea how they perform at higher levels with more talents unlocked, this is strictly for my level range at the moment)

Shadows/Sins came out very well with 3.0 changes, so no need to worry about the class. I'd suggest using a healing companion and just being a bit more cautious when you come across strong mobs. The content has been "re-balanced" with the new end game gear in mind, so there will be some adjustments for a while.

Mez one each time you fight a group.
OfficerStampe
It has been a while now since I leveled my Sin, but I found that Infiltration/Deception was very bothersome to level with due to positional requirements and high energy cost on Maul (main damage source for the spec) even with a tank companion was it difficult to get behind the enemies. I also decided to take the lightsaber charges into account. LC (Force technique) had a 50% proc chance and was limited to proc every 1.5 sec while Surging charge (shadow technique) had a 25% proc chance and was limited to every 4.5sec and the damage difference wasn't very large. I leveled using madness spec. It worked really well. Good AoE, nice sustained damage with lightning charge + dots and a little self-healing and no positional requirements, so it was a bit easier. I would suggest trying Serenity if you're having issues with infiltration damage output. Considering Force Tech vs Shadow Tech when leveling now I would still argue that FT is favorable. FT may deal less damage but it has a much higher proc rate (in the current tooltip there's no "this effect cannot occur more than once every x.xseconds) while ST now is limited to every 6sec. But tbh I am not sure if the 6 second rule also counts for the damage component of the proc or just the force breach generation. In any case I would probably still go Serenity for leveling. JamieKirby
I noticed the whole strong being powerful when 3.0 went live, so i had to be extra cautious, even as a Jedi Guardian, since if i don't take out the strong in 3 seconds, i can lose 50-75% of my health in that amount of time, surprisingly Elites don't cause this problem, not sure if elites are bugged or strongs are just more powerful then they should be. What i did notice though is the moment i got the level 55 rishi mod items on my gear and my companions' gear, it became a whole lot easier. Sarafain
What defensive cooldowns are you using? Decep/Infil have really good dmg reduction abilities, there's also the legacy DCD's and 'special attacks'. If you think a fight will be tough heroic moment is excellant to use, so many people forget about this ability. Another trick is to use Force Cloak once near half health, healing up and coming back to finish the group off.
