Cut Scenes: Some people want to watch them

[preamble]

I pvp and do missions. There was a time where I did raiding and other instances all week long, just that I did it in other games not in SWTOR. I stopped doing instances even though I really like them. It's because there is almost always someone that rushes me when I watch cut-scenes. I mean the new content has been out for just 2 days and I can't watch a cut-scene? I'm not going to bother saying how annoyed I am because it's rarely polite. What is it with kids these days? Lack of face to face interaction makes people nasty.

[end preamble]

The suggestion is to have a check-box for choosing that you want to watch the cutscenes. By doing this they play all the way through without a chance to skip. It takes pressure off the viewer and makes both parties happy. There can be a checkbox to join any, both uninterrupted and without cutscenes that way you get in fast as possible.

Obviously I could meet people in game and group with them but I find this to be a potential easy to implement feature for us pugs.

Does anyone else find themselves in this situation? You want to watch but are rushed and often times insulted for just wanting to watch your first time.

This has been discussed before, but the best way to handle this, IMO, is to simply state before starting that you are wanting to watch the cut scenes. If they don't want to, fine, they find another group. (or you do, depending on other's preferences)

You mention lack of face-to-face interaction, but a little communication goes a long way.

Also, it wasn't clear if you meant FPs or Ops, and while I haven't gotten that far in the story yet myself, I thought both were soloable in the new content? (or at least the ability to finish the story, in the case of the Ops?)

Like everyone else telling players they don't like something... Stop whining about it

lemme guess you don't like to hear that but you don't have a problem telling it to others? lmao

Except in this case, the OP is actually providing a suggestion on how fix or modify what they don't like. Whining about the removal of skill trees after two whole days of playing with the disciplines is ridiculous. (and most posts were created within minutes or hours of 3.0 launch)

It was through the group finder. Not sure how I am supposed to prearrange anything. If you do tell someone that you want to watch cutscenes it's the predictable hissy fit.

Honestly, since no one can tell who isn't using the spacebar, you can always say you are. The convo choices aren't accessible until all players have gotten to them, so it's impossible for anyone to know who is and who isn't using the spacebar. You can even sell the fact that you are using it by hitting the spacebar at the end of the convo, which will make your character jump, so it looks like you're using it. :D

(Note: While I don't do that myself 99.9% of the time, I did do it yesterday in a GF Korriban Incursion FP. One of the members (a 15k gunslinger ) died about 4 times even before we got to the first convo (slave pen), and we had to spend time rezzing him and waiting for him to heal before we could move from one trash mob to another (he basically ran ahead of the group and would initiate combat, grab all the enemies aggro, and promptly melt while the rest of us finished off the group). Once we hit the 1st convo, it literally wasn't even 3 seconds into it when he wrote 'spacebar' in group chat. Not 'spacebar?' or 'spacebar plz?', just 'spacebar', like he was our boss and giving us orders. So, since we had to waste enough time with his Leeroy Jenkins-capades, I decided to not spacebar. Sure, it was a douche move on my part, but, meh, so was he. Heck, 1 of the other members even said at the beginning it was his first time there, so he should've expected to have to wait, IMO.)

I use GF a lot and almost never hear anyone complain about not space barring through. If someone gets belligerent about it put them on ignore and just watch the cutscenes. BioWare isn't going to put in additional options that slow down queue times even more by segmenting the population.

Well, in my opinion, they should do with all group content like they did with this expansion, make a solo version for those that want to do it, it obviously doesn't replace the original group version or the hardmodes or anything group based, it just gives the players that want to watch the cut-scenes and conversations something to do, without the pressure of 'skip or be kicked' mentality that most players have.

I mean i love the whole solo mode flashpoints, its awesome, i really do hope they do solo versions of all flashpoints (normal mode obviously) and the rewards i got for the rishi and yavin 4 solo mode flashpoints have been acceptable and i really hope in the future, all content they release will have solo versions of flashpoints, cause grouping while it can be fun if all the group members share your views on cutscenes and conversations, that tends to rarely be the case and can indeed put many off of grouping pre-endgame.

Also, the solo modes are a 'do once' type of thing, so to all the groupers, it doesn't remove the whole grouping out of the equation, it just makes it you don't have to wait 30+ minutes to resume the story.

This is why I love the new solo flashpoints. I had so much fun being able to escape out of a conversation to try a different answer and running around exploring every inch of the map and killing every mob that dared challenge me! I would never do any of those things in a group, obviously, because it's highly annoying to other players.

Regardless of which flashpoint I'm running, however, I like to watch the cutscenes. I'm not a person who farms flashpoints, and I rarely, if ever, do ops, so when I play one, I like to enjoy the experience and try and remember what's going on instead of mindlessly completing objectives for the weekly. And, as others have stated, you don't have to tell everyone you're the one not hitting spacebar. Just let them stew and enjoy your story.

I am thinking, if they did add in solo flashpoints for all of them, that would make both of our days and when it comes to grouping and not skipping, the amount of ************ and crying just annoys me to no end, so i just skip it, even if it ruins MY enjoyment, just to stop the childish tantrums.
