Companion Party

Now I am totally prepared for all the pvp centric poeple to say this is stupid but here goes. Why exactly do we not get the ability to have a party consisting of 3 of our crew members. I realize it is an MMO so please Don't goad the thread with that kind of criticism. My points are simple, 1. It would not in any way hurt or change the way the game would be played as far as multiplayer is concerned because if you wanted to play muitiplayer you would still be able to do so. 2.It would open up the game to players who would prefer to play alone as opposed to with other people and might just provide Bioware with more subs as well considering how many people would play due to the semi singleplayer option. 3. This would not require a great deal of change because the content and mechanics are already there, simply allow up to 3 crew members with your toon. 4. This of course would not and should not be allowed in pvp for obvious reasons(its pvp lol). Again sorry if this upsets anyone, I just see no reason why this is not doable and or why it has not already been done, considering its an mmo that gives you an npc party member in the first place.

I agree, I was hoping they would introduce some kind of solo FP where you could have a four man group of you and your companions. This would encourage using them all, and gearing them up, and would be awesome

I would like this as well, and in fact would love it if I could solo every bit of PvE content in the game, but it simply isn't going to happen. Any work at all, much less something of this magnitude, where it concerns companions has apparantly been abandoned. The most we'll ever see is the occasional new addition like Treek, with zero QoL changes.

 

As you can see from the patch note, QoL changes are very very very low priority in terms of committing dev resources. There are countless QoL issues and badly needed areas of improvement that have simply gone ignored or fallen through the cracks since launch.

 

In terms of soloing content designed for groups, it was made clear that this is something we'll see very little of going forward, with the Forged Alliances story arc being a special exception made in order to catch people up with the story.

Yea because one or two Solo FP would bring the MMO part of this game crashing down. Drama queen much?

This would give me an excuse to gear up some of my companions. I really like the idea of calling three of my companions in regular or maybe even heroics.

I'm sure there's technical reasons why I shouldn't, but I dunno....I love this idea! It would give a cool sense of it actually being your crew, going through a mission with 3 of your companions would be pretty awesome.

Agreed. While technical limitations may stop this, I would love it as well.

 

There is special development put forth for other large constituencies (PVP, OPs, etc...). Why not put the effort in (assuming it's possible) to make a few of the FPs possible with a 4 person party? I don't remember the links off hand, but I thought I read somewhere that non-grouping PVE players make up a very large portion of the playerbase.

 

I know a lot of people who play this game not because they like MMOs, but because they like KOTOR, Bioware (ME & DA), and/or Star Wars. Something like this would be right up their alley and potentially attract more of that type of player to the game.

I solo because it's the only way to see cutsceens, read dialog, etc . Group always demands that you skip. It's nonstop 'press space, press space, skip, skip...'

 

I get zero story if I group. Group kills the best part of SWTOR.
