Lvl cap increase and PvP players

One question, I couldn't find straight answer to: will the lvl cap be increased only for ppl who bought the expansion?

I'm a paying subscriber but have no interest in spending extra money on stuff I don't want.

I mean, I'm absolutely not interested in new planets, flashpoints and all that PvE stuff, I only want to stay competetive in PvP.

So will lvl 60 be accessible to subscribers (and when) who didn't bought the expansion?

I understand that QOL "improvements" will be avaible to all players (the new skill "trees", UI changes etc.), and I personally would see lvl increase as one of those (because its global/balance change and not content), not sure whats the point of view of the devs though.

If the answer is "no", IMO we should be able to buy partial expansion without all that PvE whatnots (just unlock of higher lvl cap and access to proper gear) from Cartel Market at reasonable price (yes, there are countries where 20$ is not really that low price for game expansion and I happen to live in one).

No answer? At least speculations would be nice.

If I remeber correctly, when lvl cap was increased to 55, subscribers didn't have to pay additionally for it.

If the lvl cap for those who didn't buy the expansion won't be increased, it can lead to couple of ppl or premades in Brutalizers on lvl 55 to stay in lower bracket, because they just won't pay extra money for PvE expansion if they only play PvP (and there are many subscribers who does that), which obviously will make them superior in PvP just because of the already not avaible lvl 55 gear with full expertise, and I can't imagine this not being a problem, even if it'd be small scale and most of PvP players will actually pay that extra money for content they don't really want.

I'm with you on this one and you beat me to it. I just made a new post on the exact same topic and then I saw your post.

I'm in the exact same boat as you, all i want is to PVP, but without buying the expansion I'm stuck at 55, in a god forsaken bracket. It's just not worth being a subscriber like this.

In a few months they'll release Rishi and Yavin for all players like they did with ROTHC, then you can level to 60. Until then, your "cartel market" option is going to cost you $20 and includes the rest of the expansion.

Would you pay additional 20$ just for one area of the game, specifically PVP?

I would not. The smart thing from BioWare would be to let ANY subscriber to level to 60, but cut access to EVERY other feature of the expansion, which is sensible, since I did not pay for the expansion.

Right now, being a subscriber and NOT having the expansion is a waste of money, since I can not do anything that I want (PVP).

A smart developer would not trample his paying customers who do not want to buy additional features but still want to pay and play.

Given how little Bioware cares about PvP, hell no. Not a chance.

you can still play, you just wont get access to the new levels you will sit at 55.9999 until you either purchase the new expansion, or wait for it to go free.

If you don't want the new content, feel free not to purchase it. But you will not have access to new kills (56+) nor the extra discipline you gain at 60. Additionally you will not have access to new gear. So you may not want the story, but the new skills and gear may be worth it to you, if not, oh well.

I wou;dn't pay 20 bucks just for a level cap increase of coruse I'd also not pay 15 bucks a month if ALL I did was enter warzones. I'd hoenstly consider that a colossal waste of money and go find myself a F2P MOBA or something instead

I guess I'll just wait and see then (hoping it won't be long till subs have access to lvl increase), buying this expansion is out of question for sure - not worth 20$ for me.

They could at least make it buyable with Cartel Coins equivalent of 20$, this way subs wouldn't have to pay the whole amount - could just pay with CC they gathered. This is the way some other MMOs does and it seems reasonable and makes paying monthly sub more appealing.

Btw, the expansion is a little more than 20$ for my country, which is strange because monthly sub is actually cheaper than 15$.

There are no MOBAs with a StarWars theme as far as I know.

I consider doing the same dailies, Flashpoints, operations and whatnot over and over again 'a colossal waste of money', and that's why I don't do them. But you don't see me crapping in your food, do you?

Balance :)

If you ONLY PvP, wait...if you ever do any PvE, drop the $20...it's minimal for a lotta fun. Just my suggestion.

Since when has any mmo been offered as a itemized list of features where you get to pick out the things you want. Entitlement much!

You are correct; but then again, they ****ed up my PVP bracket.

Was it hard for them to consider 'Hey, maybe we have subscribers that do not want to buy the new expansion, let's not **** up their experience and make a PVP bracket for those who do not have it!'

Do you see my grief here? I HAVE to buy the expansion or be completely ****ed, even as a paying customer.

I will not buy it.

Does this mean if you did not buy the expac you will be forever doomed to PvP as a level 55 in the 1-59 bracket?

Yes and that's exactly my grief.

They did not think of subscribers who do not want to buy the xpac, they just went the lazy route and made the second bracket 30-59 (and don't even get me started on how ****ed up that bracket is).

As a seller of goods, I would not do such a thing to my faithful customers.

Yes this is what it means. Sadly they didnt add pvp content. But they still want you to pay to compete in the top bracket. They will not change this, sorry to say.

Oh sure they will...sooner rather than later too I'm sure. Within a few months (3-5), SoR will be included as "free" content, just like ROTHC was.

this is an issue that always occurs with a P2P game that goes F2P yet still has a sub ..

how do you balance the subs against the free players and what happens with expansions ..

everyone CAN purchase the expansion and have a sub.. if you chose not to buy the expansion you don't get the content (at least right away)

as a subscription player you do have benefits that the F2P players don't but is it enough of a difference?

I am paying to play AND I bought the expansion .. now should you get everything I get even though you didn't buy the expansion?

It might not seem fair but there is another side to it and also I sub and don't mind paying a little for the expansions because it allows future development for the game, NO gaming company is going to put all the money into servers and development and do it all for free ..

My suggestion if you want to be able to level up buy the expansion . I paid for the base game before head start and then F2P players got it free.. I paid for Hutt Cartel (which I didn't get to use due to in game issues) and yet now you get it free with SoR at any rate (I hate being F2P I use it to try and see if I want to subscribe and if issues have been corrected BUT hate the limitations).

these are my thought s on the issue and has nothing to do with the view point of the programmer ;)

And if you ONLY ran flashpoints I'd consider it a bit of a waste of money as well.

why pay for a game if you only ever touch a tiny fraction of it's content?

If I only enjoy one aspect of the game why would I play something else just to feel like I'm "getting my moneys worth" ?I'm paying to have fum playing a game if I only have fun playing one aspect I'm still enjoying my time & thus getting my moneys worth.

Do you eat everything at a buffet because you paid for it? That would be as painful to me as playing part of this game I just am not into.

Anyway; not sure what is even being argued here but this is just a bad point.
