Keep 12x XP

As per the title i think 12x xp should be kept up until 50 or 55.

I have levelled a character legit at launch and now one other with the 12X xp and purely from a storyline point of view the best flow and enjoyment is being able to go from storyline mission to mission without having to spend hours in between working up to an appropriate level to continue the class story.

Maybe have a restricion for 12x xp for one Starter class only enabling 8 characters to be levelled in this way ofcourse this would just be to keep people from making like 20+ toons.

SWToR has the best class and pre end game levelling story line and mission/quests i have ever played and this 12x xp has just made it flow even better!

I have played nearly every major mmo from eq to wow and what people need to realise is that at some point the xp rate to get to end game has to be increased to be inviting to new players and for people to be able to re roll without spending lots of time. Eeverquest xp rate used to be like 8 hours grinding at 60 to get 1/25 of a level now its literally and hour to fully level but people on here need to realise this is the way mmos inevitably go.

12x xp will not kill the game as long as it is only in place up to the level requirement for the previous expansion or even previous 2 expacs i.e 50 or 55

With 12x xp i would honestly suggest SWToR to everyone just to play the class stories because they are just that good and i can certainly see how spending hours reaching a couple of levels for storyline continuation would deter people from continuing.

As for killing low level flashpoints at the end of the day as the player base move towards a constant population users move to end game level and these lower level flashpoints die off anyway you would also find that people feel rushed by the time limit on 12x xp so no one really wants to do flashpoints given more time of 12x xp i would have done a lot more FP at low levels because there would be no rush so to speak.

Just FYI if it was kept i would just be playing every faction and every classes story line then end game on my BH. I am not making this post because i need more time to level more toons etc it is a genuine thread with an honest opinion.

Anyway i think a 12x xp to stay would be great for the game and i would like to see it stay. Hopefully people will see some of my points of justification for it and thanks for reading.

C) Lot of people disagree with making it permanent because not everyone who gets it would want it on *every* character they roll.

D) Some people who want this also want BW to give them full gear sets to keep up to level because those people don't know how to gear up themselves or their companions, or just really enjoy face rolling with OP gear.

Yeah i searched mate, i also seen this has been covered i posted in the suggestion forum, i wasnt asking a question to a commonly answered question.

Also not sure if you actually read all of my post but i did mention that it does indeed need to be toggled on and off as i am aware some people like to play without the xp boost.

I was not going to place my opinion in an old thread or one asking for an extra week of 12x etc.

Again mate people can put any suggestion they want forward if they want a full set of gear i after hitting 55 thats just silly but thats their opinion hence why i stay out of threads like that. At the end of the day theres no diff from the gear they get with oricon quests or the makeb buff. I am personally against free gear at max lvl. Again if 12x xp was to stay people would take their time knowing they dont have a cut off point meaning they can do flashpoints etc to gear up knowing 12x wont be taken away.

I was hoping that maybe the community, bioware and EA might like to read an opinion from someone who has played %90 of major mmo's who genuinely wrote a suggestion based on past experiences and the hope for more players and increased gaming experience.

Cheers doe the reply mate,

LOL a thread made day before is now considered OLD?

I think we are seeing why the 12x xp appealed to you so much :)

I was going to avoid posting in this thread to avoid giving the appearance that it is active and desired because it is not. 12x stinks and I don't want it as part of the game at all. The ONLY thing they should consider Is a level 50 or 55 character bought with Cartel Coins ala WoW and give them a basic set of gear not optimized for any spec. At least that way EA/BioWare is making money from these folks.

But 12x experience has been harmful to the game. SIGNIFICANTLY harmful. Planets are often dead, its more difficult to level the 'normal' way. PvP and PvE has been significantly impacted by players who have NO IDEA what they are doing or how to play their class.

I would suggest BioWare/EA never ever do this again and consider it a failed experiment.

The only reason I did post though was the quoted text.

Because its true. This is, and the original posters own comment suggests it, exactly why 12x exp is bad. Please do not cater to this crowd of player, they aren't going to stick around in the game anyway. They're going to 12x their way to multiple 55's/60's and then quit and you are really not going to benefit much from their place in the game EA. Instead, cater to the people who are providing you a steady long term revenue stream and enjoy the existing content, not get a 55, get bored, and then complain about nothing to do.

Where did you get this idea ? How do you know people who enjoyed 12x are going to leave the game ? It's ludicrous.

I've been subbed since january 2012 non-stop. I've only stopped playing on periods of trips or vacation.

I loved this 12x event, made me loved the game more. During this time, I've spent a lot more coins that I even spent in almost three years.

12x bad for the game ? Whatever you say.

I've been subbesed since day1 and was in open and closed beta's. My anecdote beats your anecdote.

I'm willing to see data from the developers. If I am wrong, I am wrong. But my experience with any 12xer I have encountered is generally negative. Basically they are getting as many 55's as they can in all the classes and then the game will hold very little for them re: retention.

Its already dreadfully easy to over-level content as you are leveling. There is really no need for 12x exp and its not been beneficial at all in my own experience on Jung Ma.

Point is, you don't know. You claim people enjoying 12x will leave. You really don't know. I bet the game loses a sub every day, with or without 12x, before and after. Game will gain another.

And what's your loss, exactly ? If they came for the game just to see the stories and then they leave, without the 12x they wouldn't be here all the same.

It's not about "needed" . Why does it have to be ?

It's about being able to play only the story without any kind of derailment from it.

Sigh here we go again with the "Aarrrggghhh no!" Posts.

What a lot of the "Nononononononononono!!!!!!!!!" players don't seem to be understanding is, the majority of us asking to keep this as a -choseable- legacy perk/purchase et cetera, is that yes we understand you enjoy slogging through every swamp, and spelunking every cave, and can't understand why we don't, let me try to spell it out for you:

The first time was fun.

The second time was "ok, didn't notice that last time"

Third time was "ugh when did that guy get that lump of spinach in his teeth"

Fourth time was "sigh there are even more leeches stuck to me this time around."

Do I need to explain fifth and up?

People play this game for fun. Much like reading books, you read a story, enjoy it, and generally go and get another book to read (start a new character and class to see their story) would you enjoy your next book so much if they copy pasted half of the -last- book you read into it as timefiller? As well as copy pasted into -every single book you ever read afterwards-?

Now I reread books all the time, but only ones I enjoyed reading in the first place, and usually after I have read other books with different content.

Yes we get you don't want noobs zerging to end game and showing up in your flaspoints/ops/wzs drooling, picking their noses, and herpaderping into fire/mobs/et cetera. But let's be honest, stupid will be stupid, and we had this long before 12x xp.

"But no one will group with me for FP/Heroics WHAAAAA!" Ummm, I didn't do it before 12x xp, what difference does it make with it? A lot of this is "This will make people not do what -I- want, so no they can't have it and -I- get things to go the way -I- want them to."

You want endless time sinks, go play Dragon Age; Inquisition, and see how much time you spend picking flowers and ore compared to actually questing ^_~

As for people leaving because they are bored, it will happen in any game, this is just a fact of mmos, its worse in this game because I know a lot of people who stopped playing because they wanted to see the rest if the stories, but refused to go through the tedius planetary chains ad naseum, so no matter how it is, people will be lost somewhere.

Okay, I skimmed through, I admit, but both sides have been talked and argued to death. Both sides. It wasn't a commonly asked question, it has been a constantly debated topic.

Me? I don't really care if it stays or goes, I only played on one server the whole time, and still didn't go all the way to the end.

I take that back, I don't care if they keep 12x Exp as long as I can turn it off and it isn't all the time.

You know what I do not comprehend? You lot tell people to search because a topic similar to what they are discussing has already been made, so they should post within that same thread to avoid clutter. Yet, when someone does this exact same thing, y'all jump on the person's backside and start ranting about how and why would they "necro" a thread?

I really don't understand you lot; then again, I J.D.G.A.F and do as I please anyway, so screw what you lot think!

I have too and support the 12x. So which wins? If we're through measuring... ahem, I don't think anyone has said that you should *have* to experience it. Either a toggle or a consumable from the market or a legacy perk so that everyone can get what they want, and bioware can get the money. As you actually gimp yourself this way in a lot of ways.... I'm not sure why people are so vehemently against people playing their way.

Has it occurred to you that these "bad players that are ruining pvp" will inevitably get better?

I think 12× xp is a good idea as leveling the normal way can become very tedious.

You could make it like the class buffs. When you get to the end of a random chapter, say the new one coming out. Your reward is 12x's xp for that class and its Republic/Imperial counterpart. There for players who have done the quests are not forced to do them again. BUUUUT! make them unlockable with a payment so that you have to chose to unlock it. This would appease people who dont want to rush.

A few things:

1) I have seen way, WAY more people in game zones and in various guild chats saying that they love 12x xp, and only a few loud "elite" players bashing it.

2) All of the points against a permanent (same or similar) option have counterpoints, or are completely hot air, assume it is an OPTION and not forced on everyone. Some of the slightly more valid concerns are in fact also on hastening already occurring/inevitable issues as a themepark MMO ages (low level zones and FPs would need scaling/retooling or other reasons to go back) that need to be addressed anyway. BW could take the money and address those issues.

3) Smart people can still "learn their class" while playing. Dumb/unwilling people never will anyway. (Also, why force a sage to grind "learning" if they already did it on a sorc?)

4) Gear treadmill is still a hurdle for certain content and this does not change that at all. There are also other possible ways to gate endgame/hardmode content

5) If BW wanted to introduce this in a bit different way there are several ways to do it creatively in a way that still depend on people having _already_ maxed out other toons and having experience with the game (be it per account, legacy, dark/light sides, class, etc etc.)

I was largely dormant in 2014 until recently due to repeat grind being too tedious/lame, and came back for this perk. I will pay them for sub more often if this exists. I've heard others say the similar things. Although it's hard to know the except percentages here without BW/EA doing market research, that to me doesn't sound like it will "kill" the game. Played right it could even revitalize it.

I mention the search function either to point out that it has been asked for/against many many times; that there are other perfectly still living threads that are being posted in; usually the first one.

I very rarely ever complain about necro'ing, unless there is nothing more to add (such as the GTN debate) to the topic.

And if you don't give a ****, why are asking me as to my motives?

I might mention a necro, but then I join in the discussion.

I keen for this. It makes it a hell of a lot easier to roll a new character. I used it to get my Inquisitor from 37 to 55 and started a Trooper and got her to 34. I really don't want to bother with the fluff, especially considering all the side missions are the same for all the classes on the same sides. I had a little bit of trouble here and there with gear but it didn't take me long to get around it.

I wouldn't want to make it easy, though. I'd put a proviso that you needed to have at least 1 character at the level cap for that faction and then you'd have to unlock it somehow. By that I mean that if I had leveled a Republic character to the level cap and acquired the unlock I can get the 12x leveling bonus for my other Republic characters, but not Imperial. I would need at least 1 Imperial character at the level cap to get the 12x leveling bonus. That way you've experienced all the side missions for each side at least once. You can always choose not to unlock the bonus if you don't want to play that way.

Ok so this is a suggestion forum not a i need help or question forum me creating a new thread regardless of others with the same nature is not against the rules. Either way i made a post and my post does not at all reflect who i am as a player.

I am not sure on peoples motives as to why they hate this idea so much wether it is because they have been replaced by new comers who can play better than them.

I also get the feeling that a lot of people here are new to mmos and do not really understand the implications or the natural progression of mmos over years and years of expansion.

So planets are dead? Low level FP are dead? But yet there have been 57 million characters created some of you are still crying. Well I tell you now go jump on eq or wow, rift, aion, conan, eq2 all low level content is un populated. Games over time establish a constant playerbase of whom %95 plus are at the end game part of the mmo therefore naturally the low level content is rather dead.

More people who buy the game to complete just storylines or try it out etc are going to be far more impressed with star wars as opposed to just being given a top level character. Again i am confused you complain about noobs or 12x ers but they have more experience then a character granted max level.

Again i am giving an educated opinion based on my 16 years of mmo experience it is not neccesarily right but i honestly believe it is the step in the right direction if i was going to be critical i think max 12x out at level 50 to give nooboes some end game skillset before hitting end game.

It can stay for the right price :rak_04: People shouldn't level up in the speed of light for free.

Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't you have to purchase the expansion to get 12x EXP? Isn't 12x EXP contingent upon having an active subscription? The people who are using 12x EXP *are* paying for it. This has never been a F2P option.

I'm not quite understanding what you're saying. You're against 12x EXP, but support instant leveling instead?

But 12x experience has been harmful to the game. SIGNIFICANTLY harmful. Planets are often dead, its more difficult to level the 'normal' way. PvP and PvE has been significantly impacted by players who have NO IDEA what they are doing or how to play their class.

Planets were dead before the 12x EXP boost, and would have been much more dead considering the impending expansion, new game releases and expansion releases in other games. If anything, 12x EXP kept the newbie planets populated.

Some players did level with no idea how to play their class, but if I remember correctly, that was also present prior to 12x EXP. 12x EXP didn't make me a worse PVPer, it made me a better PVPer because I can now understand firsthand the strengths, weaknesses and challenges of each class. I know my opponents rotations and cooldown limitations, and it does make me much more effective regardless of which class I play.

Because its true. This is, and the original posters own comment suggests it, exactly why 12x exp is bad. Honestly, I left SWTOR a while ago, and only returned because of 12x EXP. The expansions I purchased, the subscriptions I paid for and the other money I spent in the cartel market are all money that Bioware wouldn't have made had 12x EXP not been implemented. It may not be much, but ~$150.00 is definitely better than nothing.

Don't worry, after my subscriptions expire in two weeks I'll leave your precious game, and you'll be free to blame some other facet of gameplay for bad players and increased queue times.

No 12x needs to die. Call us elite players or hardcore players or whatever you want, but those of us who actually play the game don't want it dumbed down with a bunch of pay 2 win 12x players who will ruin the game for us. As I stated before, I wouldn't mind new players being supercharged to 60 with some sort of 1 time exp boost but allowing everyone to level multiple alts to 60 will absolutely ruin the game for the rest of us who have actually spent the time and effort playing the game. There is a reason why WoW only allows their level 60 boost as a one time only perk. Those players who are only interested in the story can always start a new legacy and use the boost again. That way 12x doesn't impact those of us who played the game for over a year. It sucks when you spend so much time and effort in something only to have some noobie pay money to suddenly to be a the same level as you in a matter of days. I don't think that's fair.

I think most are supporting the idea that you either have to have a level 55 Toon or level 50 Legacy. Which means the player would have to play at least one time and have a max level toon for the side (one for Empire and one for Repub) they want to do 12x on a new toon.

Me personally I had 7 level 55 toons before this event. The only story I hadn't seen yet was the smuggler and counselor... I just finished the smuggler thanks to the 12x. It should be an option.

I have played this game since BETA...and frankly last year stopped playing because 1) waiting on new FP and Ops and 2) the three toons I had below level 55 I just could not muster up the strength to do all the SAME planet and side quests AGAIN...

IF the devs put this in as an option after you have at least 1 max level toon.... I would probably level my counselor (last story to see), a marauder, and another Smuggler (Gunslinger vs. Scoundrel. that would guarantee my sub money for at least another year (between new content and leveling those toons). Without it I will play the new content for 5-6 months maybe and unsub again.
