New Species - long list

So, i want to create new chars, but dont want to repeat any specie, so i'm w8ting for new species to be in-game. In this post, i want to talk about possible new species, why some species cant be playable, and what species you would like to create some specific class.

Now, some rules to help chose possible new species:

1 – Need to be able to speak basic. (too much money spend on voice actors)

2 – Need to be able to show equiped armor.

3 – Need to be close enough to humans, 2 legs, 2 arms, 1 head, etc.

So, looking and 1 and 2, you can forget Jawas, Wookies, Sand People, etc, etc.

There is also the romance options, that could look very strange with some species, but in this case, i think we can get a bit more freedom in order to get more playable species, and saying this i'm thinking about the Rodians, one of my favorite.

Now, for this, i think it could be solved, if they find (if they want) a way to disable the romance options form the convs.

But i know, that most of you wont care to have a char with a frog or lizard face kissing some pretty human-like companion. In this case, i would give a bit more freedom for fantasy, but with limits, for example, Rodian yes, but Trandoshan no. I dont mean i dont like Trandoshans, i do, and would be nice to have one BH, but not with the romance options.

Now, there are species like Togruta, that got some “head issues”. Lets see who they deal with it when togruta comes as playable in few months.

In the case of the Nautolans, their heads just seem a little too big for the helmets, but nothing that cant be fixed.

They should just make the helmets adapt to the head size, same way rest of the armor does, from skinny body type, to big and strong, or the large one. If the armor can adapt to body size, so the helmets should too, opening doors for species like the Nautolans and Weequay. Or even the Cerean...

Another specie that i think could be easy to put in-game, is the Devaronians. Their horns are not that big, i'm sure no one would care to see it coming out of the helmets or hoods. In a way, it would be nice to let others know our specie even when using helmet.

Another very good option, is the Zygerrians, they are to canines as Cathar are to felines.

There are others “dog” like species, but imo, this is the one with less werewolf looks, the one closest to humans.

Now, a list of good options that fir the profile:

Togruta, - for Sentinel

Nautolan,

Weequay,

Devaronian, for Merc or Assassin

Rodian, for Gunslinger

Chagrian,

Zygerrian,

Anzat,

Balosar,

Elomin,

Khommites,

Arkanian,

Firrerreo,

Zeltron,

Tarro,

Nikto,

Gotal,

Koorivar,

Bith,

Bothan,

Clawdite,

Duros,

Falleen,

Kaleesh,

Ryn,

As you can see, there are plenty options, even if some are a bit ugly, we just need a bit more freedom when on romance convs.

Some are very classic and popular among the comunity, others not really, but they could give us 2 new species per year, if they want. I think 600 cartel coins for each would mean a high income in something that isnt that hard to do.

I hope you understand that getting 2 species a year is kinda a huge thing, most MMOs don't come out with new models

Considering most new species aren't new models just different head options and maybe a differing skin over lay for TOR I don't see your point. Furthermore, this statement is so false. New armor, weapons and monsters are new models.

Anyways, as to the OP, I know a friend of mine wants to have the Kel Dor as a playable race. Now, I know some people would be like but they wouldn't fit the profile. I say who cares? Options could include adjustable mask designs, helmets don't have to be on for them, and any speaking lines they get can automatically be filtered through a synth sound in basic. I know a few people that want to play a Kel Dor.

The Romance Comment was a Joke made during Booth Chat that wasn't actually "On The Record" so "Romances" don't actually have any baring on what Species Can or Cannot be made Playable.

Plus with Kel Dor, Appearance Options can include different Face Masks. Similar to the Miraluka, only instead of the Eyes Only, the Kel Dor would be Mouth with some Masks possibly covering their Eyes.

Many of the species in this list, we already have in-game as npc's. How hard could it be to make it playable?

And for 600 cartel coins for each account, i think it is worth the effort.

Actually quite hard because NPC Models have a preset "Armor" Appearance and some have "Preset Animations". Whereas Player Models are able to have a wide array of Armor Appearances and have more Animations then the NPC's.

from all those I would only buy and create a character with the following.

These 2 most certainly.

Arkanian

Firrerreo

These 2 are funny I like them

Gotal

Bothan

Thats why I also dont bother with calthar and I am not sure for torgruta. I dont like calthar at all, its mostly cultural for me.

You know what I would pay real money to have it as a race for my account??

The one that is attached in my culture and race... friends with them in our myths and stories... Shreinotaur

all the rest are irrelevant, I use Ratataki and humans 100% right now.

And this is why I really dislike calthars... bad race for us.

google it and its an actual sw2 i think race and they speak TAROK and I also think that their planet is DEREN in sw lore

So this is it... I want Shreinotaur and Deren planet

(their true origin is Seirius B (small kynos)) from our stories.

Ah so it's a fan made creation and not officially created/approved by LucasArts/Disney.... Yeah, that ain't going to be added to this game, ever.

It reflects the reallity in the myths. Calthars is an egyptian thing, since the lore of starwars is based in eastern myths.

But yes, Shreinotaurs are actually from our alliance part of myths and they actually from small Kynos, Kynos = seirius star system and we called them all in all including calthars "kynokefalos".

If swtor ever goes into canon, they could do it.

here is information about shreinotaurs (and star wars lore)

Shreinotaurs,or Derenidorai in Tarok, were a warlike species from Deren that were common in the Galaxy's Mythology and thought by many to not exist. The first Shreinotaurs originated in the Tarakkinian Iknolosian in unknown times further beyond the reaches of the galaxy that no explorer, no matter how brave, would dare to go. Around 695,000 BBY, they came into contact with the Charitons, producing a new species to the galaxy after a few years. Before long, the Shreinotaur-Chariton offspring, Charitaurs, rebelled against the Shrienotaurs, sending the Shreinotaurs to Tarog in exile. A large number of years later, the Shreinotaurs returned to Deren and overcame the Charitaurs. Although a great number of Shreinotaurs stayed on Tarog, most returned to Deren to once again make a fresh start in life.

A long time later, in 13 BBY, a great storm of the Force arrived on Deren and all but destroyed the population of Shreinotaurs on Deren(a few Charitaurs survived because of their advanced genetics).

More years later, when the Trandoshan Sith Lord Darth Tridian discovered a small Shreinotaur colony on Valdosia, they attemped to hunt down a Force-sensitive, for the Sith were in desperate need of a new apprentice. After finding a single Force Sensitive, the Trandoshan, being vicious as he was, slaughtered the entire rest of the village, as he had no use for them, and so the Shreinotaur population on Valdosia was eliminated.

However, Shreinotaurs still inhabited the galaxy on Tarog, and never really died out at all until the Aftermath War, but survived nevertheless. They continued to fight for freedom for as long after that as the Galaxy existed.

I actualy kind of like the Cathar, was w8ting for it to create my commando female Cathar. One of my favorite, and one from kotor.

Cathar need more hair options and not copy and paste hair from the Zabrak either. All the NPC hair options you see on Cathar you run across, yea, don't bother looking at those. Even the avatar I have that hair option is not available.

imo they should add these

Togruta

Nautolan

Kaleesh

Devaronian

Weequay

asap, since they are easy to add and speak basic.

We know Togruta are next.

Aye and Nautolans and others with headtails/tendrils will all really depend on how well they do the Togruta when compared to both only Ashara but also against Twi'leks.

Truth be told, all Species, not just the Cathar, could use a major Makeover. From Cyborgs being able to choose/have Species besides Human as their Base to Cathar being able to look more like Liono and not just look like different versions of Panthro (yes I used a Thundercats reference) to Twi'leks being able to have (full) Body Tattoos to Miralukan getting more Eye Masks to Zabraks getting more variety/colorful Face Tattoos/Horn set-ups to etc. Perhaps even extending allowing Classes have a impact on some modifications as well (such as Miralukan Inquisitor will have a few different Eye Masks while a Miralukan Trooper could have a few Militaristic Eye Masks possibly including having Havoc Squad's Symbol on the Masks.)

Essentially the Miralukan would have X# of "standard" Masks regardless of the Class then the would have a few "Class Specific" Masks that are different depending on the Class Chosen. (Miralukan are used only as an Example)

So you want to go from a race with little personality to one with no personality? :p

Of course! It's an improvement!

That said, I would prefer Kel Dor to Voss. Voss would look good...but there are a lot of reasons why I wouldn't want to play as them, some of them reasons why I don't think Voss specifically should be made playable. For example...they pretty much stay on their planet...you wouldn't find a Voss smuggler.

But a lot of those other species? Very much yes.

Actualy, since the Voss now have relations with the Republic and the Empire, there is nothing against any individual to leave their planet and explore the galaxy.

As community they want to be neutral, but as individuals, they are free to join any faction and take on any role they may want.

The only strange thing would be to do quests in Voss and be called Outsider...

Except in the beginning the Voss doesn't have a relationship like that with either side, which is where you start as a new character cause you have to build that relationship when you get there. Plus being told about the Gormack and parts of the world also wouldn't make sense.
