DarthKurt
During the previous expansion 50-55 the Expertise was all removed from the sets we worked so hard to acquire. Many of the people I played with rage quit and un-subbed after that. I hope that is not going to happen again on this expansion. Please tell me, I can keep my 2018, even if my brutalizer gear is no longer state of the art.

If the expertise had not been removed you would have not been bolstered and would have been wrecked in every warzone you went in. Of course, then you'd complain about your OLD GEAR not being up to par. Comments like yours are uniformed and stupid. Sometimes things in your mind should not come out. War hero and elite war hero still bolster reasonably due to having the expertise removed while Battlemaster gear is complete garbage due to still having expertise. Be careful what you wish for here bud. And incidentally that may be the worst reason I have ever heard for rage quitting when 2.0 dropped.

But it makes no difference really we still have to get the new tiers of gear anyways.

Jimfa
So I want to make sure I'm reading this correctly. I've only just started getting into PVP. Is it then a bad idea for me to start spending Warzone comms on PVP gear with 3.0 about to drop? Should I just save them up?

Is it then a bad idea for me to start spending Warzone comms on PVP gear with 3.0 about to drop? Should I just save them up? Yes, save them. That's what I am doing. You could get some Obroan gear now and it wouldn't be the end of the world, but when 3.0 hits, those same warzone comms would buy better gear. So, it would be like using your basic comms right now. Ld-Siris
Plus getting obroan gear first is a pretty cheap way to get geared out (esp gear with set bonus) for the journey to 55-60. Especially people that used the x12 xp and have nothing.
TezMoney
wont we still get effed up with bolster no because the new pvp gear has the same 2018 exp max.

You do know that a layer with Bolster and green/blue level 59 gear will have a MASSIVE advantage over you if you have expertise on your level 55 gear? Kurt your suggestion involves you being eaten. In one to two bites. Like a mini-muffin *OMNOMNOMNOM* Edited November 18, 2014 by AshlaBoga

Fidelicatessen
Do you know this to be fact or are you just making it up? All you have to do is the math. Bolster affects every slot with a piece of gear in it ... UNLESS the gear already has expertise. Then bolster ignores it. If you have some old PvP gear with expertise that you're running with 55-59, bolster will hit everyone else's piece of gear to bring it up to level 59. But not yours, since it has expertise. Your old level 55 PvP gear will still be level 55 PvP gear, while everyone ELSE will effectively be wearing level 59 gear. Capiche?

Wonder how the Bolster is going to work though. Right now you get diminishing returns depending on your gear level, but since we are getting a few new tiers again things might change a bit. As in, will 180 gear receive full Bolster or will it be stuck at 1300 Expertise? That sort of thing. I suppose we need to wait and see.
Twin
^^this I was faceplaming so much after 2.0 at all the people that where raging over the expertise removal, shows how many players didn't understand anything. As i remember it, most of the complaints were due to previously earned PvP gear was worse then using any level green PvE gear in PvP. Ie: They were complaining that they didn't remove expertise and boost the stats on "Battlemaster" like they did on War Hero. Alot of the complaints also were about the lack of clear information to returning players (And players that doesnt read the forum), that had no idea or reason to belive they were better off with level 10 greens over "Recruit". The fact that they only removed expertise from War Hero and not the others contributed to the confusion, and still does occasionally to this day. Simply lazy implementation imo, and the fact that the PvP vendor on Fleet still is selling lowbie weapons with expertise in them is proof of that.
