Sorotia
As I've never been to familiar with crafting skills I have a question or two, is there much benefits to me in leveling either of these professions if I have little to no need for the armor it crafts? Is there anything unique they craft that the other professions don't?
ellenbec
At the very least, you will gain access to Augments that are crafting skill exclusive, as well as Conquest specific recipes for parts.
psandak
As I've never been to familiar with crafting skills I have a question or two, is there much benefits to me in leveling either of these professions if I have little to no need for the armor it crafts? Is there anything unique they craft that the other professions don't? Augments: Armormech crafts: Reflex - Main stat Aim (good for Troopers and BH)Skill - Main state Cunning (good for Smugglers and Agents)Shield - Secondary stat Shield Rating (good for tanks)Absorb - Secondary Stat Absorb Rating (good for tanks) Synthweaving crafts Might - Main Stat Strength (good for Jedi Knights and Sith Warriors)Resolve - Main stat Willpower (good for Jedi Consulars and Sith Inquisitors)Redoubt - Secondary stat Defense Rating (good for tanks)Alacrity - Secondary Stat - Alacrity Rating (good for healer; albeit limited)Command - Main Stat Presence (good for all characters wanting to boost companion combat ability). The only other augment crafting crew skill is Armstech: Overkill - Secondary stat Power Rating (good for DPS and healers)Fortitude - Main stat Endurance (good for tanks; although Redoubt, Shield, and Absorb are better, and PvP)Critical - Secondary stat Critical Rating (good for DPS and Healers; in limited quantity)Surge - Secondary stat Surge Rating (good for DPS and Healers; in limited quantity)Accuracy - Secondary stat Accuracy Rating (good for DPS; mainly as a filler to get to prescribed cap) At end game augments are the only real "unique" desirable items from Armormech and Synthweaving. But lower level crafted armor can be useful and profitable. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I would argue that crafted gear is a better leveling option. Long explanation short.... Standard practice is to get a set of adaptive armor and fill it with item modifications every four levels or so. That either involves use planetary commendations or a combination of Cybertech, Artifice, and Armstech to upgrade. It takes 7 or 8 armorings, 9 mods, 9 enhancements, and 1 or 2 hilts or barrels to upgrade. that is usually about 100 planetary comms or a bunch of materials or a combination. OTOH, crafted armor while only a one shot costs less material to make. In addition upgrading is more piecemeal since you get bracers and belts one level and chest and head another and legs and boots at another. The only drawback is its appearance; you may have your character look a little silly in mismatched gear. Not saying I will use crafted static stat gear, just trying to look at it from a fresh perspective.
Sorotia
Hmm lot to think about, I didn't know about the augments...so I suppose is a reason for me to take them up. Thank you both for the info!
