Macetheace
and i was really impressed and touched by Eric and the team for doing this, I had no idea they were doing this and I was really impressed by the openness and down to earth and for taking the time for doing a video of it, really appreciate doing this. Wish i had realized this earlier sadly, i may have been able to ask a sage/sorc question i've been bursting to ask for over 2 years now. but i must say well done guys, found a new level of respect for you, and this is not a flirt or anything, but Eric, I had no idea you were that good looking, I don't know why i imagined you as older than me with a goatee. Having a face to the team actualll is relaly good, it drives home that you're talking to people and not machines, for me this means far better wording, zero bashing (i didn't really do that) and if i have a criticism, to balance it with a positive too, it me seem all pretty obvious that they've always been people but having a face and dialogue/commentary walkthrough, you realize they're just like us, and hopefully behave better towards them. anyway, good one, Eric my cousins will definitely find you very cute, I'm gonna use that to get them into playing SWTOR with me, so they know video gamer designers can be hot too.. hope that's not too inappropriate
Macetheace
oh, the question i had been bursting to ask was a sage question i posted in the topic. They say they have no plans to give sages/sorcs any more melee abilities cos they're range, but there is such a huge desire for them to use their light saber more... why not give a "floating lightsaber" ability, where they throw the weapon to the target with the force and the lightsaber melee's the target while the sage can continue being at range? they could even give the floating lightsaber an ability bar with the sage's melee abilities and give it a couple more like shadowstrike from the shadow and it auto uses them. The sage can continue casting at range while the lightsaber melee's the target, or the sage could instead channel the control of the lightsaber and during the channel the play can use his melee abilities through the lightsaber at range. either way would work you get a new facet or really cool new ability, see some more lightsaber action and yet remain range and still display extreme force mastery = win win win bit surprised that the TK abilities were a bit low key, floating lightsaber and mass project would have been awesome to have

TheNahash
why not give a "floating lightsaber" ability, where they throw the weapon to the target with the force and the lightsaber melee's the target while the sage can continue being at range? If they throw the weapon to the target, it's not much of a melee attack now is it?
Macetheace
If they throw the weapon to the target, it's not much of a melee attack now is it? no, it isn't, the desire has been for sages/sorcs to use their lightsaber more, not necessarily melee more, having a floating lightsaber melee while you are at a distance casting, is good enough compromise
TheNahash
no, it isn't, the desire has been for sages/sorcs to use their lightsaber more, not necessarily melee more, having a floating lightsaber melee while you are at a distance casting, is good enough compromise Nah, I don't think it would be good enough. The people that ask for Sages/Sorcs to use their lightsaber more are talking about moves (or simply A move) similar to Warriors/Knights or at least for a buff to our basic saber attack that would make it useful after level 5. Hopefully, that won't happen anytime soon. Sorcs and Sages are, for all intends and purposes, mages. And in this game, they use the Force in a different way. That's their specialty. That's what they do best. That's what devs should focus their attention on when designing new abilities. If Sorcs and Sages were the only force-users then sure, we should have some moves that include using our lightsaber. Thankfully, there are Warriors and Knights that use their lightsaber for the vast majority of their abilities. If people want to see their characters using their lightsabers more they should roll characters whose training is focused on...using their lightsaber. Macetheace
i've been one of those people asking, and the heart of the request to make more use of that stick you keep holding., at this point i understand that it makes little sense to give a range class more abilities, but the floating lightsaber is really cool, and it can actually be the tool that allows them to use their melee abilities at range too by simply making the lightsaber a pet ability, that will melee the target by itself while the sage is at range, whenever the sage uses his lightsaber abilities, the floating lightsaber executes them , which means whihle it is up he can use things like doublestrike. This in and of itsef is just so cool, the ideea that you are powerful enough in t he force to control your lightsaber telekinetically at range is cool, fits the fantasy, and they are two ways it can work, you take double stirke and strike off the global cooldown for sages and give them each their own 1.5 sec cooldown so they can use in conjunction with their normal abilities wiles the floating lightsaber is attacking. This way you can add extra melee abilities to the whole Consular class and not just restrict them to shadows. alternatively you can make it a channel you can do at range, so you're still at range, while channelling you can use the melee abilities through the lightsaber
