I feel like there is something big that they're not telling us about 3.0.

Even taking into account the two new planets, new ops, disciplines, damage nerf, and the comms conversion, it just feels like there is some sort of really big, fundamental change or new thing that is coming in 3.0 that they haven't discussed or even hinted at yet.

There has to be something more here, but I'm not sure quite what it is.

I'm not really sure what you mean. 5 levels, 2 planets, 2 new ops of five bosses each, 2 new tacticals, 4 HM FPs, comms conversion, a new discipline system. That's certainly not what I would call a huge expansion but it is a pretty darn decent amount of content. It's significantly more than Makeb launched with I believe. If they had anything else significant I really think they would have announced it as I'm sure their goal is to sell as many pre-orders of the expansion as they can as early and as quickly as they can.

Unless you mean there's something there not telling us that the players wouldn't like and they're hiding it.

I don't think it's something people won't like. Maybe it is, but I suspect it's something people will like a whole lot.

The reason is that they have been saying basically nothing of actual substance to those not in the closed testing. Even their "dev blogs" about the combat changes are barely more than a list of abilities. It feels like there is something that they are guarding that would be revealed if they said more.

The only obvious reason that they would be so tight lipped with less than three weeks to go until early access is if they have something big they don't want to take any chance of spoiling.

Yeah they're just yanking our cranks about zilch for pvp. 3.0 will include a bunch of new maps with modes pulled from the devs annual post in the PVP forums, and a bigger, better, version of Ilum PVP that WORKS on one of the new planets. Also the gag about getting something better than X-server, is actually X-server.

Nope, expansion is less than a month away, nothing more to announce.

Something like cross-server or "megaservers" for PvP (and maybe even PvE) could be it.

They already said cross-servers for PvP ain't coming. You're clutching at straws.

They did say it is something as good or better, I think?

Could be misremembering it.

I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I check the dev tracker pretty much every day as part of my hobby rotation browsing and it's actually quite common for them to go days without answering.

Nothing new is coming for 3.0. They are more than likely working on the features to be added beyond 3.0 and also ironing out the inevitably large amount of bugs and stuff still in 3.0 content. But having some secret feature for 3.0 itself makes no sense.

HA! If only...

How about the fact that everyone should expect to earn Elite and Ultimate commendations at a slower rate in 3.0? No one's been interested in discussing that, despite the Developers making a statement about it back in October.

"I do know that there is going to be, probably, some slight changes in how fast you earn [ultimate and Elite] commendations in the expansion."

Bioware's combination of inept communication, obscurantism, and deliberate message-manipulation over the years leaves the door wide open for this sort of speculation. But they're not alone.

Video game companies have gone to a marketing strategy that focuses entirely on getting people to buy the product before they can see what they're actually getting for their money.

Weirdly after looking into gamebreaker tv's The Republic ( as it stopped for a month ) , I watched the most recent episode November 7th , Larry Everet mentions something that they haven't told us too. Link below but no don't ask when he mentions it as I don't remember , with it being a late at night viewing. Still I hadn't heard of this so called "something they haven't told us" until last night.

I don't think it's the armored vehicles they mentioned either , but those do sound interesting.

There was also a good bit of info from someone who has left BioWare about the hero engine and that he would indeed use it again as the size of swtor is worth about 6 kotor 1's. Also they discuss chat bubbles.

Cheers,

I think disciplines is the biggest thing there is. Nothing really else left to reveal at this point. Don't let your internal hopes place things where there is nothing to be placed. That is how mismanaged expectations come to bear.
