Sharzade
I'm following the Dulfy.com Powertech build. The instructions are to go with Augments in Aim, and get equipment with these stats: Accuracy, Surge, Critical Rating, and Power. Basically it says I must have Accuracy 110 % Tech and 100 % Ranged (1% from companion + 3% from talent = 6% from Gear). I imagine the companion gives a bonus, the talent refers to the skill trees, and then another bump from equipment. However, what is the Tech? Is that a reference to Tech Power? So do I need to bolster up on normal Power as well as Tech Power? Do Tech Power and normal Power overlap or stack? I've been assuming that everything stacks with everything else, but having various kinds of power is a bit confusing. This Dulfy guide is pretty good; I like that it suggests specific ability rotations and strategies.
DarthDymond
Basically it says I must have Accuracy 110 % Tech and 100 % Ranged (1% from companion + 3% from talent = 6% from Gear). I imagine the companion gives a bonus, the talent refers to the skill trees, and then another bump from equipment. Correct, but be aware the "1% from companion" refers to the Legacy bonus for maxing out affection (actually it might be completing all affection conversations) with a specific companion, check the "Imperial Classes" tab under "General Unlocks" in your Legacy Menu to see which companion gives the bonus for the Bounty Hunter -I think it's Blizz, but not 100% sure. (If the BH isn't your first character, check under your other characters too, since the bonus is a Global Unlock, getting it on anyone will apply to the bonus to all your characters). However, what is the Tech? Is that a reference to Tech Power? So do I need to bolster up on normal Power as well as Tech Power? Do Tech Power and normal Power overlap or stack? I've been assuming that everything stacks with everything else, but having various kinds of power is a bit confusing. Open your character sheet ("C") and there are two drop-down menus listing your stats at the bottom, I believe by default they are set to "Ranged" and "Defense", click the arrow to the right of the word Defense and select "Tech" instead - that will bring up your Tech Stats, which will include a separate Accuracy Rating. (Here's a Picture for reference where you can see a character with 100.01% Ranged Accuracy and 110.01% Tech Accuracy). Your Power rating (along with your Aim stat) will generally be what determines your Tech bonuses to the damage or healing many of your special abilities do, there just may be some Talents that give a bonus to Tech damage/healing without giving you a bonus to Power across the board. In terms of itemization, don't worry about the distinction between Tech Power and Power, I'm pretty sure Tech Power only shows up as a separate stat on a few Talents/Passive Abilities and as a flat, unchanging stat on your blaster and shield generator. This Dulfy guide is pretty good; I like that it suggests specific ability rotations and strategies. Dulfy's stuff, in general, is great - her site is a solid go-to resource for any SWTOR player. Hope this helps. Edited November 14, 2014 by DarthDymond
Sharzade
Great stuff! Your explanation is very helpful, I appreciate all the detail. I hadn't noticed the drop-down arrows for the ranged/tech/defense in the character sheet. I've set it up so I can track ranged and tech side by side, like in your illustration. My account has a Legacy of 3 at the mo, even though I played before (early 2012), I never achieved total companion affection. I'll have to make sure I get that this time. I'm definitely looking forward to getting Blizz!
DogeDandolo
Sorry to disappoint, but Accuracy comes from melee tank companions -- have fun getting to know Skadge. On the upside, you can also get the bonus from SCORPIO and Scourge, two of my favourite companions.
MagikFingerz
actually it might be completing all affection conversations It is. The last of which usually becomes available around 9300-9600 affection.
Adric_the_Red
Technically, it is for "completion of all conversations and quests" for a given companion. Edited November 15, 2014 by Adric_the_Red
Khantalas
You can't unlock later conversations without finishing the missions anyway, so the distinction is intangible.
