2 short questions (cosmetics and legacy gear)

1. I've read that you can buy an cartel item that lets you customize appearances and race. Is this still available and how much does it cost ?

2. The legacy gear for twinks, is it just better then the avg. lvl x item or does it level with the character like the BoA items from WoW?

Would be pretty useless when its not leveling up, with 12x class mission boost, no?

Not quite. You can change your race and appearance (everything bar your gender, class, and advanced class) using an Appearance Terminal. You can find one of these in Coruscant / Kaas City's market areas and another in the Cartel Bazaar section of your faction's fleet. You don't have to buy one yourself, but you do have to pay cartel coins for every change you make. Changing your haircut is fairly cheap, changing your species is more expensive.

There are really two kinds of legacy gear: the stuff you buy for tokens or credits, like the Inheritance Mainhand Weapon Construction Kit every character gets at the end of Chapter One. You can send that to any other character on your account, who can redeem it for a fairly decent item appropriate to their class at the legacy vendors on their capital planets. There, you can also buy some pretty cool moddable legacy armour sets bound to one specific class for a ****ton of credits.

Then, there's adaptive legacy armour. You may have already gotten two sets in the mail when creating your character -- the atrocious pilot suits. A few other sets can be bought from reputation vendors, requiring you to grind their faction's reputation first. These are fully moddable and can be shared between all classes.

Neither category levels with you, however, you still need to manually replace the mods in it. The main appeal is for people with a lot of alts, for example it lets you share most of a single set of gear between all your characters filling the same role with the same mainstat. So I could for example share a set between my Shadow and my Assassin tank.

There's an Appearance Designer station on your fleet's respective starion in the Cartel Bazar or on your faction's homeworld (Dromund/Coruscant) where you can customize everything but your gender for Cartel Coins.

The legacy gear that comes with stats doesn't level with you and becomes useless at some point (if you have rich characters or characters that can craft stuff aside from the one you're leveling, you may find it useless to begin with, even outside of 12x class mission XP). The orange legacy gear can be modded to fit your level, so it kinda levels with you, but you have to invest into that.

Thanks, too bad with the gearing. I won't bother with switching tons of mods in and out with smuggler then on her way thru the class story.

Could you give an estimate on how much a Race/Facial/Hair change will cost?

500cc, 1000cc, or even more?

Hair change would be 40cc, race would be... well, a few hundred. And that's with a discount(since you're a subscriber): free players have to pay about twice as much.

If your character is not a beloved 55 with Social X and lots of closed quests, but just a new level 30 or thereabouts, and you really like to change everything about him/her, I'd recommend just starting a new alt with a different race - might be cheaper, especially with the 12X XP bonus going on until early December for everyone who preordered Shadow of Revan expansion.

1. As has been said, there are Appearance Customization stations in the Fleet and Homeworld, plus you can get one for your stronghold as well. In addition, there are some extra customization options - such as extra hair styles, eyes, etc - available through the cartel market.

2. It's been so long since I played WoW, that I'm not even sure what a "twink" or a "BoA item" is anymore - and I can't be bothered to find out. :)

Race change is like 800 coins, but when you change race, at least you don't have to pay for any other appearance changes like you normally would.

800? I'm pretty sure it is 600 for subs.

EDIT: I stand corrected. I just checked in the game, and it is around 800. My mistake. :o

Munchkin is a min-maxer, or more specifically someone who maximizes their stats in a roleplaying game (esp. pen-and-paper games like DnD) where the plot should matter and the stats should not.

Twink is a low level alt that's being equipped by a rich high-level main character. The player uses the money made with his level 55's to buy gear for his level 15 alt, thereby avoiding all the side quests that are typically needed to get gear.

In reply to the original post:

The 12x exp reward is a marketing promo, they give you the experience in order to entice you to buy the expansion, and to pay subscription for the couple months until release. They do NOT give you free gear with it because they want you to buy said gear from the cartel market.

If your gear falls behind you're going to die vs. the many boss fights encountered during class quests, and if you only do class quests then you're not going to get much gear or credits from the side and planet quests. Therefore, your only choices are to spend cartel coins to get gear, or to spend the accumulated millions of credits you may have on your level 55's. Both are intended.

Except you don't get gear for Cartel Coins, only empty shells without stats. You'll look fabulous, but you'll die just as quickly.

Considering that you already have at least one higher-level character, I recommend regular credits-injections to buy green mods at the planetary vendors / green gear from the GTN. Alternatively, if your main has a crafting skill levelled, you may be able to craft much gear yourself (armorings, mods and earpieces from cybertech, enhancements, crystals and hilts from artifice, barrels from armstech, implants from biochem, Force-user armor from synthweaving, tech-user armor from armormech).

Not really, I leveled a Jedi Guardian beforehand with x12 (Ok, I bought an adaptive armor via cc, but with no mods)

I used some credits of my lvl30 to expand my inventory but I did the emperor quest with a mix of lvl 10 and 50 gear I found on the road or were rewarded.

Kira fell a bit of lately because she was under equipped and was missing some slots, but other then that it was all fine and never unfair (took me 3 trys to succeed my class story, when you figured out the fight, its easy)
