@Bioware: can we have a healing-tree for all our companions?

i'm sure you know that most of the players choose the healer for solo-play^^

but not everyone is... ...let's call it "satisfied" with their class healer.

would it be possible to give all companios a heal tree?

without this option we are often forced to choose a heal we don't want :(

i would be happy if you would answer my request :)

best wishes

W

They had this kind of functionality in beta, where the companion customization kits actually determined their role, but that was removed.

I doubt they'll return. Also, having a healer accompany you isn't always the best option mechanically. Really depends on the class/content.

Actually...most players don't choose the healer companion for solo play. Most people who run tanks use a dps companion, because tank main with healer comp is INSANELY slow, and most DPS/healers run a tank comp to keep the pressure off of them, then they can just use rocket boots to heal their companion back to full after each fight.

Sure, some people still run healers, but the era of "Everyone runs heal comps" died out in about 1.1

Most players are DPS so most players USE Healerr as companions

ALSO most tanks USE healers, slow but 100% sure that they will kill the NPC Boss

That's not necessarily true either. I used Temple way more on my sniper than I did...whoever the healer was. I can't even remember offhand. Double DPS would just wreck things. Mount/dismount to fully refresh the companion health after and rotation of defensive abilities could keep you going pretty well too.

You're basing this on what, exactly? What you do? My Mara uses Vette, or Jaesa, depending on what mood I'm in, and Quinn is geared for like 35, despite my being 55 and having been 55 for almost a year. My Jugg uses Jaesa, exclusively, none of her other comps are even close to geared for 55. I could go on. None of my characters use healers, except, of course, my healer toons, hard to play them if I don't use a healer then.

I hardly ever use healing companions. I remember on my sage when I was forced to escort the new annoying healing companion through a quest. It was awful! No one ever attacked the enemy cuz we just healed each other. I use a dps companion on my dps character as well, because when you burn the enemies fast enough you don't need heals, and the same with my tank character. It takes way too long running with a healing companion.

My Sage uses Qyzen

My Merc uses Blizz (not difficult to guess why)

My Sorc uses Xalek

etc. etc.

I use healer companion only if I know Ashara/Nadia/Torian doesn't do enough dps to kill boss.

hey guys, you got me wrong^^

No we didn't, we're pointing out you don't speak for everyone :p

One thing you can do in the meantime is keep using your healer companion in combat and then just switch out who you want for conversations.

I wouldn't mind if they allowed us to choose the role our companions can do, but I dont see it happening anytime soon if ever either.

For what its worth though I tend to always use dps companions on all of my characters unless im doing heroics then I might use a healer depending on what I have to do.

It is true that many players do not use a healer companion, even while playing as a DPS or tank. But still (and this is purely anecdotal), from what I see in-game I do think that healing companions are very popular. I use a DPS companion on my DPS assassin, but gameplay-wise I would often prefer to use a healer. I went with the companion I like over the one that is most convenient, but I wish I didn't have to choose like that.

I do agree that we should be able to choose from more than one* healer companion per class. I don't think that every companion should be able to heal, though IMHO most of our healers are pretty random:

Quinn, a cunning and ruthless officer who is your pilot.

Tharan, an exotech guy that deals with computers and weird alien technology.

Talos, an archaeologist.

. . . note the lack of medical credentials! So I think that many (but again, not all) of our existing companions would work perfectly fine with an optional healer spec, so to speak.

*I'm not including Treek here because she must be purchased, not to mention that not everyone likes Ewoks. ^_~
