DomiSotto
I was wondering if it is a good op to try for a first-timer, and how long does a run take? I see people saying they'd take on lowbies and newbs, so I was wondering if it was a good intro to 16x content? Someone told me it only took a few min to complete. Kind of a baby-op? Torvai
It's just one instanced Boss. And in Story mode you even get bolstered to 55. Basically go in, clear a few trashpacks so the don't annoy you infight and kill the boss. Pretty much tank n spank and don't stand in stupid. With a few occasional add spawns, just aoe them down. The fight itself takes a couple of minutes, much like Toborro's Courtyard does. It is a relatively simple fight as already explained, so there is very little to worry about. Give it a go! DogeDandolo
It's definitely worth it to get a feel of the larger group size. What it does not do is prepare you for the more complex mechanics on most ops bosses. You may want to join a HM run of a lvl 50 Classic Operation (Eternity Vault, Karagga's Palace, Explosive Conflict) for that.
Jimvinny
Bolster makes this an excellent opportunity for a first-timer to get a feel for an ops environment. Your gear doesn't matter, and the mechanics are very forgiving. Definitely a good introduction to operations for a new player.
g_land
Its a one boss instance like TC and xenoanalyst. It is very quick, just dont stand in bad icky green stuff. Dulfy probably has it up on her front page. I respect and am appreciative of how well you research everything Domi but at some point you really just got to leap in the pool and learn how to swim . DomiSotto
Thank you, folks! I will try to get into one of the groups. I am definitely going to try a listed SM ops over the X-mas break. But because someone told me it was a very short one, I thought it might be a good idea to try and see how it pans out. I just wanted to make sure that it is doable. Time constraints are a huge problem for me, and Ops feel like something that takes in excess of 2 hours, time I rarely can put in, particularly accounting for queue time. With a flashpoint, I just mark out the latest possible time I can accept an invite, allowing for 70-90 minutes, judging from my experience with the SM flashpoints so far.... ChroniKill
Most of the current ops, with the exception of Scum and Villainy take little over an hour. To be honest, I've had very bad flash point groups take longer than a Dread Fortress.

However, SnV is clearly the longest of the lot, since it has seven bosses and I think three mini-bosses (the money bosses).

It's in the middle of Oasis City hidden in a house.

Maybe not in PUG runs, but I've been to loads of guild runs where we've cleared them all to stack up some creds. Takes a couple of extra minutes, but has a decent payoff. A few times I've been covering for a friend in his guild runs and they actually did all the money bosses in SnV and TfB to amass money to the guild bank. In my experience, the last money boss is done quite often even in PUGs, but usually the other two are too much trouble.

DomiSotto
Yay, managed to get through it. So weird. It did look like a huge battle, with all the fire on the boss. It was just one tank, poor thing. unlike FPs it is actually good to be a DPS in this one, since they want them by the wagon. But really a perfect duration to fit in my schedule. But oh, my, I am looking at the other Slingers' HPs to my lousy just shy of 30 thou, and yeah... sad! So, I guess, I am all set to queue for NiM, right? PLynkes
As a melee DPS, I find it slightly less fun (damn you purple circle!!!). But still fun. You might want to try the event world boss too. Our guild farmed it into the wee hours until everybody in the Ops group had got the pet it drops. It's weird, we had two instances to ourselves (often the competition is a little fierce). I guess everyone was out at Halloween parties. May sound kind of grindy, but the company was good, and that made it fun. Also, that boss goes down pretty quickly. DomiSotto
Oh, I was story-mode, so no killing purple circles Yeah, the Lurkers... I always run into them, all those people wanting to catch up with 'em, and here they are running into my poor lowbies.
PLynkes
The story mode Eyeless does actually have the purple circle of death too. It's just that if you are a ranged DPS you don't really have to worry about it, as it is only around his feet (i.e. melee range). You really need to get out of that purple one when it appears, even if it means running into a green one. I didn't mean the tunnel lurkers (I had quite forgotten about those fellows). Each time the event hits a planet, as well as the stuff down in the tunnels, there is a temporary world boss on the planet's surface too. This time it's a funny-looking critter called Toxxun who drops a little infected sleen pet. No bolster or anything though, so probably not a good idea to take lowbies to that one. DomiSotto
Oh, neat. Never heard calls for this one though. I have never tried a world boss before. It is loaded as an Op on my L40'ish trooper, so I was wondering if I should try it one day, but there is so many things in the game, it's hard to get around to everything. Will see if I can manage something today. I am in 12xXP mode now, so, yeah, again, too many things to do!
