Galiantis
Without taking the time to flip through pages of suggestions to see if this has already been requested... I would like to request the ability to friend someone on their account level as well as toon to toon. WoW had this feature and I never thought much about it having only 3 toons in WoW. But now, in this game, I find myself with 15 toons across both factions. I like to do ops, and have joined the ops channels, however, my pub guild likes to run ops just with guild members, so they rarely post in the ops channels. We do have a website for our guild as well, but sometimes things just happen, spur of the moment. I have friended the guildmaster on a few of my toons, but obviously that does nothing if I am on the opposite faction at the time. Friending on the account level would show them online as "Account Name" or if security reasons prevent that, Legacy name. Allowing someone on one account to see when a friends account is online, regardless of which toon or faction, and the ability to send whispers at any time would make things a lot easier for many people. I also often make friends while helping someone learn the game, and offer to be of assistance whenever possible, and I grow weary of having to give out all 15 toon names just so they can know when I am on. IF this were to get implemented, I would also suggest some changes to the Guild tab. I am unsure of the reason of 500 toons per guild, but if the aforementioned request were implemented, then it could be changed to 500 different legacy names allowed. Or 200... or whatever. Basically meaning that many people, rather than that many toons. I know some of my larger guilds were against me having more than 2 or 3 toons in the guild for fear of taking too many of the few remaining spots. If that aspect is not possible, then it would at least also be nice to show Legacy names in the Guild tab. So we know when one of our friends may be on, but on an alt. And perhaps when clicking on the legacy name, it would open a drop down box of all their toons in that same guild. Or have an option that lets our gchat messages show up as our Legacy name, rather than our toon name, so people only have to remember one name for guildmates, rather than 2+. I realize that is all very lengthy, but in terms of application it seems fairly simple, while removing much of the uncertainty when dealing with my alts and friends alts. I am one of those people who claims to not have a "Main" and I jump around from toon to toon consistently, constantly putting me out of touch with friends. And I am sure I am not the only one. A small part of me is hoping this will be implemented with patch 3.0, but I have a feeling that non-gameplay impacting UI tweaks and friend/guild tweaks are a low priority at this point. Galiantis
Just use the Search Community feature. Heh, I looked for a search box breifly (too breifly, obviously) and didnt see it there at the top However, I would say my post still holds relevence. After using that now I would say that the posts others have made are extremely simple in their request, leaving all the thinking to BioWare, which isn't bad in it's own way. But my post seems to offer a lot of things more thought out and offer suggestions and therefore more likely to draw attention to the request. TakexeNex
For reasons of privacy I hope this never happens unless there are safeguards to let the individual remain anonymous. Im a GM and although that suggests high visibility at all times there are times when I wish I could just log in any alt I want and play alone or without being tracked, such is not the case. I would love to have a feature just the opposite: appear offline.

If they implemented the feature I am requesting, I would think it quite simple to add an "Incognito Mode" of some sort, to appear as offline. Or even if they don't implment my request lol. I was just thinking two birds with one stone.
NSaynKnutt
Please no. I like having my privacy. I don't want anyone to be able to click a button and know whenever I'm on any one of my alts. And I don't want an "accept account-wide friend request?" dialog box, either. I didn't subscribe to play Spacebook. Now, I fully support the idea of account-wide friend lists (as in, have the option to friend one toon across all of your alts so you don't have to enter their name into ten different lists). I also support cross-faction friends/tells, if you know the name of the toon. Sometimes I'm playing my sniper, but I'd like to know if my friend logs into their scoundrel so I can switch sides to play with them.

I'm not saying anyone can add one of your toons and then see all of your toons. It would have to be mutual to add each other on that level. And as was brought up before, we could have an "Incognito Mode" option as well.
theUndead
No. Adding friends should remain on a character basis, not character. I like my privacy.
