SWTOR 3.0 Q&A with BioWare

Recently, I had the opportunity to ask BioWare some questions about the upcoming 3.0 expansion, the Shadow of Revan. The questions were answered by Andrew Horitz and Jesse Sky. Thanks to BioWare for taking the time to answer my questions. I am very much looking forward to the launch of the Shadow of Revan on December 9th (December 2nd for pre-orders).

Putting on my most cynically-cynical of cynic hats, I couldn't help but wonder if:

8) Is there a change coming with 3.0 that you are especially excited about which isn't in the feature list?

The real change with 3.0 comes in the form of how we are treating story in our game. We are truly excited about what we did with the story in Shadow of Revan, as it will be a jumping off point for the compelling content we plan on creating in the future.

is their way of saying that going forward there won't even be different Faction-specific quest-lines, just single quest-lines shared by both sides. :p

What type of forum was your Q&A? It seem lacking and a lot your questions were answered in streams that BW did. Did you ask more question and they had no comment? 8 questions?

1) Covered cantina tour

2) Covered stream

3) Covered stream

4) Not sure where you were going with this question. But the answer to the question is obvious.

5) Was something new, that no one asked before.

6) Why was there no follow up question? About if there was going to be new ******** in crafting and drops?

7) Has been covered in depth in the stream.

8) Was good question to see if they would spill the beans on something.

You'll have to check out the link to see the questions. No going to take traffic away from this guys blog.

Geezus...calm down Bill O'reilly, not everyone is a pro interviewer.

The questions were great for a fan of this game. They also have to be tempered to get answered, otherwise Bioware would just ignore them. As for #6 in your reply - I'm willing to bet the OP submitted these questions via email and had no chance for a follow-up. That might also explain some of the outdated answers.

Which is why most of these fan Q&A sessions are useless, similar to a lot of the Q&A sessions done with politicians.

The interviewer tends to ask a bunch of soft-ball questions or questions for which the answer is obvious or already answered, and rarely if ever ask questions or get responses that provide new detailed information, while the interviewee stays on script and effectively controls the interview.

But this isn't the fault of the interviewer, rather it is the nature of organizations or individuals with agendas that use these 'interviews' to control their message, making sure they only place themselves in situations where they maintain control while providing the illusion of being forthcoming, honest, and open.

Yup. I don't blame AegisX at all for the questions he asked...anything tougher and he'd have gotten no reply.

However, no matter how well Bioware dances around pretending to answer questions without ever answering them, they'll never be confused with being "forthcoming" or "honest" lol.
