Quieter Assault Cannons?

It's been a long time but for some reason the one you get from the final heroic quest on Coruscant stands out to me as being quiet. I could be mistaken about that. I think TOR Fashion has sounds uploaded for a lot of their weapons too, to compare (though they probably aren't using that ability).

Aww man. I an thinking about rolling a commando next just for the big gun and sure as hell hope its loud, even though I have a merc and its not my favorite class as far as play, nor is the trooper story a favorite of mine. And you want a quiet assault cannon?

Should have went vanguard.

Folks, the OP wasn't criticizing the game, you don't need to get your Captain Defender pants in a twist.

There's quite a wide variation in the assault cannon sounds. Some are are throaty, some screech, some sort of 'thwack'. Some are definitely noisier / quieter than others. The SL-34 the OP mentioned is definitely one of the louder ones, by quite some magnitude (was using it myself until recently).

Everyone has different tastes and tolerances. Best thing to do is see what's available for a reasonable price on the GTN and check out the vids on Tor Fashion / Dulfy to hear what they sound like.

Personally, my two favourites for how they look and sound are the Primordial and Hyperstorm cannons and variants.

Hail of Bolts is certainly one of the louder specials, but at 55, I only ever use it on trash mobs, if even then, never during any real fights. It's a skill I would be fine with them removing in 3.0 because I think it's worthless given the ammo cost. Even if it's outrageously loud, I wouldn't switch my preferred canon because of it...it just won't be a big issue once the OP hits 55.

Some of ya'll aren't reading what I wrote. I said I was looking for a quieter cannon, not one that's completely quiet. I like the pew pew of the regular fire and I greatly enjoy the satisfying thump of my Mortar Volley. It's really just HoB that's driving me up the wall.

My overall sound is fine, it's just the HoB sound that reaches eardrum piercing levels. Like those parts in movies that suddenly make your walls shake. I'll try turning the SFX volume down like Essence_of_Light said. And thanks, Cernow, I'll take a look at the stuff ya linked and see if I can find anything I like there. ^_^

TUXs, my Mando is 31 and I really just use HoB to finish off the ones that somehow survived my volley. Maybe I'll jjust take the darn thing off my bars completely.

For any of you curious I've found another gun that sounds nicer all around. This is my new baby. There were a few others I was lookin at but they were super expensive.

It seems to be that the slimmer, sleeker cannons have a higher pitch sound while the fatter ones.....don't. I'm not sure if this applies to all the cannons but it's what I've noticed with the few I've looked at.
