Xcore
Hey, quick question... Do I need to buy Hut Cartel or any other expansion content? Or do I have it...? I don't see anywhere to buy it... I know the Revan expansion is coming out and I can pre-order, but is there anything I need from Launch to Now?
hadoken
I'm pretty sure you get the first expac by default when you subscribe now. Seem to recall they bundled it in for folks a while back. You can always buy more stuff on the CM though if that's what you're itching to do
Alyssis
After some point a while ago, everyone that subbed gets the expansion already in game, beeing able to lvl to 55. So, as long as you subbed, youre good to go there. However, preordering Shadow of Revan now, will let you lvl with 12x experience from all the class quests, enabling you to lvl from 1 - 55 doing nothing but class quests, and the storyline quests on makeb. That might give you some problems with gear tho, unless you left after 2 months, having loads of credits, or materials!

The RoTHC expansion is now automatically including when you sub. Oh, and welcome back! EDIT: If you want to, you can see a list of major changes to the game since you've left here. Don't get too attached to skill trees. In 3.0, they're completely removing them in favor of The Discipline System.

What have i missed expansion wise since launch? Just Hut Cartel? Well they've added in some daily hubs, a couple planets/moons and some other endgame activities like the seeker/macrobinocular stuff. You'll find quests to to do all that stuff from various terminals and npcs once you're eligible. I find it's more fun to be in the dark about that stuff and just discover it organically, but dulfy.net is the place to go for any SWTOR news and guides. Xcore
I appreciate the feedback guys... I have one last question... What is the state of the development? I mean pretty much all the original people behind this game are gone right? Does the game still feel vibrant in terms of Releases/Content/Development Team/Communications etc.

Defecter
That might give you some problems with gear tho, unless you left after 2 months, having loads of credits, or materials! If he had slicing at that time, he'll probably have more credits then a good deal of current subscribers. God, that was imbalanced. I still have credits from slicing in the early days on some old toons.

I find their communication with us lacking and sporadic. Sometimes, they'll be great and answer tons of player questions, concerns, etc. Then other times they're almost completely silent for 1+ weeks. Orizuru
Thanks for the replies guys! Any other advise you can give for someone who has just returned since pretty much launch? You can go to Makeb as early as level 47 by using your ship's holoterminal. You can use the GSI Sattelites found all over Makeb and the orbital station to get the bolster buff while on Makeb. This buff is amazing and will allow you to complete the entire planet wearing level 10 green items. The idea is that no matter how badly geared you are when you arrive on Makeb, you can jump right in without any worries. If you don't have enough credits to buy some 156 gear/mods on the GTN, I recommend putting together a set of gear for both you and at least one companion while you are on Makeb because you won't have the bolster buff in the content that follows this planet. Oricon is the next stop after Makeb. There is a chain of story driven missions here that will reward you with 5 pieces of 156 gear (hands, boots, chest, legs, helm). If you are a skilled player you can solo these in your Makeb greens. If you have a set of 140-148 gear you can run through them fairly easily. If you get stuck on any of these missions, group up and you can quickly faceroll through them. All of these missions become daily missions after you complete the story versions of them. Its a very good daily hub to get comms. You can either use the GTN or comms to fill out the rest of your gear to at least item raiting 156 pieces. If you need comms, run your dailies. Once you have at least a 156 item in every slot (except maybe relics) then you can start doing Story Mode Operations if you want raid gear. I'm probably giving you more detail than you need. Based on the questions you are asking, you seem like a veteran to MMOs and will probably figure all of this out on your own fairly quickly. I went ahead and provided extra detail for the benefit of all others who may be in a similar situation to you and find this topic. PS - If you plan to buy the Revan expansion, don't spend Ultimate or Elite comms unless you are going to cap them or want to step into Hard Mode Operations before the expansion launches. Once 3.0 lands there is a lot of talk that we will be able to use these comms at level 60 to buy new gear. The more of these comms you can save between now and December, the better off you will be at level 60. If you only plan to do Story Mode Operations or Hard Mode Flashpoints between now and launch, then you really don't need much more than 156 gear. If you do a few SM Ops in 156 gear you should win a few 162 pieces from unassembled tokens and black market drops. You might even get a couple of 168 pieces from some of the bosses. Edit - A post made by Eric Musco provided new information since the stream on Friday that alters my recommendations above. Here is the post. Good post Brewski! I wanted to explain exactly how the Commendation stuff will work in 3.0 as I know I still had some questions I was unsure of on the stream. Here is the basic layout of what will happen in 3.0. Planetary and Classic Commendations no longer exist. All current Planetary and Classic Commendations will become Basic. All Elite and Ultimate Commendations that you have will become Basic Commendations. Elite and Ultimate Commendations still exist but you will need to earn them anew in 3.0. I know there are a few followup questions; what will the cap be, is there a conversion rate, etc. We are still working out details like that in testing but as soon as we have it nailed down I will let you know! -eric Edited October 27, 2014 by Orizuru
CmdrShpd
How many active developers do you think are on this title still? I could be wrong, but I don't think we have any way of reliably guessing at what this number might be. What happened to all the original devs from the start? Well, obviously it takes a lot more developers to build a new game from scratch than it takes to maintain and periodically update an existing game. Presumably, some devs were shuffled over to other Bioware projects, while others were probably let go. Edited October 27, 2014 by CmdrShpd
hadoken
How many active developers do you think are on this title still? What happened to all the original devs from the start? It'd be total guesswork as to the first question, and with the latter one you can only really track the more visible ones that left (of which few remain). They say : "We heared you" but the funny thing is, nobody asked about it. we normally ask other things... umm.... this only applies to pvp... just barely. damn near everything that developers have been adding so far is in a direct response from player requests. to OP. be very careful about starting Makeb story before finishing your class story as it spoils the ending of it (unless you don't mind spoilers ) to avoid it - just don't click on the terminal, unless the quest sign is with a green "turn in" dot in a middle. Does the game still feel vibrant in terms of Releases/Content/Development Team/Communications etc. Xcore, I am in a very similar situation to yours- I played on release for a month or two, and returned just a month or two ago. I'm pleasantly surprised by the efforts I'm seeing. The post release content quality starts off middling (Makeb is a fun quest area but isn't that interesting) but consistently gets better. The most recent content are the Forged Alliances story, and I love the effort made to put in good bioware-style characterization. Dr. Venture (James Urbaniak) as a disembodied droid head strapped to a Wookie always cracks me up.
