Sadishist
As in Star Wars Legends: The Old Republic? Just wondering, Disney won't reduce support for this game just because it's legends would it? Edited October 24, 2014 by Sadishist
Darth_Wicked
Yep. I am pretty sure they will. Right now, people at LucasArts, Disney, EA and Bioware Austin, are hard at work to do exactly that. It is something that will increase by ten-fold the revenue the game generates.

A name change is no big deal. I hope they don't reduce support for this game because they got a different canon now.

"Support"? What are you even talking about? Disney is not the one "supporting" this game; Electronic Arts is. The latter pays the license and that's it. Sangrar
As in Star Wars Legends: The Old Republic? Just wondering, Disney won't reduce support for this game just because it's legends would it? this game is still making a good amount of money, of which thanks to its ownership of Star Wars Disney gets a cut of, so they are kind of turning a blind eye and allowing it to keep going as they know for now at least it will make them money and that since the game is so new comparatively that it would be too soon to shut it down. Tomb-Stone
Not really sure what this thread is about. Is there even a link or anything legit that points to a pending name change or is this a bunch voodoo poo doo? Drudenfusz
It's about a misunderstanding of licensing contracts. Its also about the changes in how canor works now with Star Wars. And no, there will be no change, in the past we had also a canon system that didn't considered every product to be equal, and not saying outright how highly it was rated in the canon system, nobody will start putting that now on everything. So, no chnage is coming.
Sadishist
It's about a misunderstanding of licensing contracts. Cheers for straight answer. Was wondering on how not being canon will affect the lifespan of this game.
Max_Killjoy
Part of the problem is that a lot of people are looking at this as a binary issue -- "Is it canon, or is it not canon?" Disney gets to have it both ways -- in effect, they've said that everything from the EU that hasn't been canonized by inclusion in the movies, TCW, or SW:R, might be true, or it might not be true, right up until the moment it's directly contradicted or specifically stated to be not true. They get to have their cake and eat it to.
Darth-Obvious
Cheers for straight answer. Was wondering on how not being canon will affect the lifespan of this game. Absolutely zero. Do you know how much completely wasted time, effort, energy, and money would need to be pointlessly wasted to go back and literally relabel all non-canon Star Wars products? There's no point to do so. Although you know what, I did hear though that DC Comics is going to rename The Dark Knight Returns to "Batman: Elseworlds - The Dark Knight Retruns" cause it really needs to have it's "non-canoness" in the title right? LeJarC
It's about a misunderstanding of licensing contracts. Got a source for that claim? The only thing I could find that dealt with licensing contract stated EA has made a deal for a ten year license http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/11/20/ea-holds-onto-star-wars-games-license-for-10-years-says-swtor-i/ http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-11-20-eas-star-wars-game-deal-lasts-a-decade
