BigDumbViking
I feel the need to point this out since it came up last night. While on my Vanguard, was told that my gear sucked by someone whom I proceeded to out-damage by some 500,000 during a hypergate. For the fresh 55 just starting to pvp, here are some tips: Low level gear bolsters rather well, especially gear using mods from the level 40 to 45 Planetary comm vendors. As part of their effort to reduce the ability of players to use the bolster system to get more powerful than Bioware intends, Mainhand weapons have a bolster penalty. IE, if youre using a PvE Mainhand of any kind, you will NOT reach 2018 expertise. As such, the first piece of PvP gear you buy should be a Mainhand weapon. After a weapon, you should purchase in this order: an Offhand, both Relics, enough armour to get a set bonus, and then fill out the rest of your slots. DPS and Healers both get the Relics of Focused Retribution and Serendipitous Assault. None of the others are worth anything. Tanks should get the Relics of Reactive Warding and Shield Amplification. Virtually every player source of damage will bypass defense chance making Fortunate Redoubt less useful. Augmenting your gear as soon as you can will make quite a difference. Just DONT augment the PvP gear itself. You will have to use those shells to purchase the Ranked gear. (IE, buying the Ranked Mainhand costs 3500 Ranked Comms and the Unranked Mainhand). In line with the previous point, dont get rid of the Unranked gear shells. Hold on to them, you will need them later to upgrade. Due to the quick level on this toon, I had no coms for PVP gear when I hit 55. On Fleet my character in lvl 45 blue gear walked around with 18,000 health. Inside my first wz with no PVP gear I bolstered to 32,000 health with over 1900 expertise. If you get in a wz and have under 1900 expertise and < 30,000 health... you are hurting your team. Note I would disagree with bullet #2. The difference in your PVP bonuses from having 1950 vs 2018 expertise doesn't make MH/OH a priority for PVP gear. My gear priority would be: - Relics - 4 piece - Implants/earpiece - MH/OH There aren't any existing relics that will bolster you and provide the benefits that the pvp relics can. The upgrade over anything else available is way too much to overlook. 2 piece/4 piece bonus can be huge depending on class. Implants and earpiece have larger stat distributions than the bolstered PVE options and are thereby come with larger performance gains than the bolstered MH/OH that use the lvl 45 blue armor/mod/enh. mmerry
I know I've only been on this server for a couple days, but I just want to throw this out there.. I have no problem with calling someone out in chat for getting capped on in a hypergate as a powertech. Just don't get capped on yourself while calling that person out in chat the next round with 20s left on the clock causing the team to lose... While that is a pretty good thread, I would take it with a grain of salt. For instance the fact that he recommends taking some abilities off your bar such as missile blast is blatantly false as beyond double strike on a sage I cannot think of a ability that does not have a use somewhere. Yeah :/ I was thinking more of the mindset or general message of the thread that needs to be propagated on the server. Much of the aggro mechanics could be learned by certain pug raids in allies... No offense, but missile blast is nearly useless if you are seriously PVP or PVE'ing.... The heat to damage ratio is absolutely abysmal. 1/4 of your heat for a weak attack with minimal splash damage isn't good. The dot spreading is ok if you are pyro, but i wouldn't recommend it compared to better/cheaper alternatives. I would encourage anyone starting out in PVP or PVE to take it off their bars. Situationally you will find uses for it, but I see too many noobs that freeze up and just resort to MB spam rather than learn how to play the class correctly... they end up over heating in 15s and are just easy kills. They would be far better off just taking it off their bars and figuring out how to kite and use the appropriate rotations for their spec.

Then he should say they should make a habit of not using such abilities and recommend spamming Ion Pulse or Powershot/Grav when in doubt
johnatters
Wait what is allies? Is it some guild or something /Allies is a chat channel set up for arranging operations. It was originally one of the "uber-hardcore" HM channels, but as word got around it descended into the driveling mess it is now. At some point it was made completely public, and it still used when looking for a raid, but is mostly used to propagate drama. There is also /enemies. Which fluctuates in use from all the time, to wondering if you've even joined the channel. Mostly used for OWPvP alerts, and ranked. Both are set up on both factions.
