Galactic conquest, first time total war on red eclipse

So...for the past few days there was "total war" as conquest-objective for the first time on my server....that means 14 planets to conquer, so 140 slots to make it into the top 10 and get the uild-conquest-reward-thingy.

What i find interesting: Corellia: 1 slot open, makeb 1 slot open, nar shaddaa 3! slots open, quesh 2 slots open, taris emp 1 slot open, taris rep 2 slots open.

So all in all only 130/140 top-10-rewards claimed.... or in other words, there're 130ish active guilds on red ecplise...

Just felt like mentioning this and.... tell us how it looks on your server :D

Just a small correction. Your observation doesn't mean that "there's 130 active guilds on Red Eclipse."

You're excluding all the following active guilds who may not be interested in Conquests:

  • Guild doesn't have a guild ship.
  • Guild has a guild ship, but didn't click the Invade button for a planet this week.
  • Guild clicked Invade button, but didn't have any members complete any conquest objectives.
  • Guild had members complete conquest objectives, but invaded a planet that more than ten guilds decided to invade and did not perform well enough to be listed in the Top 10 results for that planet.

If you look at the planets with the greatest number of reward multipliers you'll find lots and lots of small guilds dogpiling those planets so their players have an easier chance at getting their personal rewards.

50k conquest points scared a lot of smaller guilds and tons of casual players off of trying to take a planet and unless those casual players also happened to be in a guild consistently ranking in the top 5-10 for lifetime conquest points I suspect far fewer people this past week reached their personal conquest goal on at least one character.

50k conquest points was punitive, especially for players who didn't hoard materials or find crafting much to their liking.

One of the guilds I'm in chose Balmorra this past week which had the x2 bonuses for GF FPs and their associated weeklies. With my 3 level 55's in that guild, I finished the PVP, 55 HM, and tactical weeklies with the one-time PVP/WZ kill/commander/etc awards scattered among them. Even with a 70% stronghold bonus, I still came up short in points so I had to craft some invasion stuff (between 4-8 each character) to reach their personal goals.

Honestly, 50k seems a bit high and the next time it comes around, I'm just gonna take a week long break from the game.

^This.

While I doubt there were any guilds you could legitimately call "active" that either didn't click 'Invade' or had absolutely no one complete any conquest objectives, the first and fourth categories from that list are very relevant.

Just because only 7 guilds went after Nar Shaddaa doesn't mean there weren't 20 guilds going for Alderaan.

Don't say that. One of the guilds I am in has numerous times failed to invade a planet because and I quote. "I don't like any of these planets so weren't invading any." The only planet he cares about invading is Oricon.

It's pretty much what Levram wrote. On my server, there were also planets that had empty spots, but that doesn't mean there are less than 140 guilds on the server.

Since it came out, conquest has been mostly for larger guilds and guilds with players who are not just raidloggers but who'd also do things outside of their weekly raids. While there was a lot of interest in the first week, it quickly diminished when people found out conquest isn't for them, and only a few big ones remained, with some guilds even giving up on trying to land in the Top 10.

Total Galactic War definitely had good intentions in supporting the smaller guilds, but it was too little too late. It should have been in week 4 or something and not this late.

In any case, looking back now, conquest has achieved its goal in keeping people interested until the SoR announcement and getting rid of excess credits/mats. I'm interested in seeing how conquest will continue post-3.0, and if they will be able to keep the large guilds interested once they have conquered every planet, or if no one will be left doing conquest.
