Mara or Jugg?

I'm looking for my next toon to level while the 12X is going on. I have a jugg @ 26 and a mara @ 28.

I mostly solo and PvP. I do dailies while I wait for PvP to pop. I do occasionally run some fp's but not often. Obviously I will be focusing on story quests to level fast.

I am looking for opinions on which class you guys think will fit my play-style best once I reach 55.

Thanks!

If you have no desire to ever tank and aren't big on PVP, I would suggest the Mara first. Marauders are beastly damage dealers that are a lot of fun to play and can just explode on your target for massive amounts of damage very quickly when played well.

If you are accustomed to using knockbacks and stuns in combat then you may want to avoid the Marauder though. Maras have no knockbacks or stuns available to them. They have a few abilities that can be enhanced by a skill to provide an immobilize debuff for a few seconds, but they aren't very good skills outside of pvp. The lack of a knockback is disappointing in my opinion because I thoroughly enjoy using my Jugg's Force Push ability to throw my enemies off a cliff from time to time.

What's good in PvP fluctuates on any given patch. Take a look at the specs and find one that appeals to you because the only guarantee is that the overall premise of the spec won't change. Both ACs have AOE based damage in the shared tree. Mara gets a DoT based spec in Anni and a more difficult rotation in Carnage. Jugg gets a semi-DoT based spec in Veng and a tank spec.

I would just suggest leveling both and then you don't have to choose. :D

If you mostly solo and PVP and mostly do your PVP solo as well (i.e. not part of a coordinated team) a marauder might be better for you. Juggernauts are great, but they truly excel in teams. Marauders are definitely more lone wolfy.

This is the opposite of what's true, marauder needs a healer and team support way more than a jugg in PvP.

If you say so. I was focusing more on the stealth and avoid death maneuvers, vs juggernauts being able to taunt and guard (both useless to them solo). Obviously there's a variety of way both classes can be played.

^ This.

I suggest level maxing both, trying the different trees, and then finding which floats your boat. Also you'll at least have the other one spring-loaded if you want to change up later, roll with the latest FOTM or whatever. Getting hands on knowledge of how both work can only help you with facing them in PVP too.

Complete opposite of this. A lone wolf marauder = dead marauder. Marauders are one of the most frustrating classes to play solo in pvp. High damage potential, but it is hard to get anywhere near that potential when you are constantly being rooted, stunned, taunted, knocked back. It's way too easy to deal with marauders. Basically, just interrupt ravage and you negate a large chunk of their damage. As a part of a team with heals and a tank, marauders can do tons of damage. But solo, you die really fast.

Vengeance juggs are pretty much OP. Four seconds of immunity from everything (including stuns) after leaping = uninterruptible ravage, force push, force choke, leap to friendly (great for huttball), enraged defense (basically gives you two lives), other strong defensive cooldowns. I've won numerous 1v2 engagements with my jugg / guardian. I'm not sure that I've ever won a 1v2 as a sentinel / mara.

Solo pvp = vengeance jugg

Group pvp = either can work

pve = marauder for dps, jugg for tank

I don't know so much about now but this was pretty much standard marauder fare a while back. Sounds like they've been nerfed a great deal since I really did anything with them. That's too bad.

Wow lots of great info. Thanks all. I think I am going to level my jugg first. After that I will hopefully be able to level my operative then maybe come back to the mara. With the 12x xp bonus I would like to get the toons I am interested in to 55 before it runs out.

Thanks again.
