CrownofGold
I would like to suggest to the Devs that all Companions come with Modable Versions of their starter Armor Sets much like Treek and HK-51 do. Some of the most unique armors in the game are the starting armor sets that the companions come with but they are quickly discarded for "upgrades" from planet story missions or modable armor of our choice. I feel that many of the armor sets companions start out with really fit their personalities and the armor we have to upgrade them into completely destroys that and we have to put them in armor that does not make sense or is completely out of character for them. For example: Lord Sourge's armors start to look like Jedi Knight's while Akaavir Spaar, a mandalorian, starts to look like a Trooper! It's pretty ridiculous! If the companions cannot come with modable armor sets can we at least start to see their unique armor sets in the cartel market so we can do it that way? I wouldn't mind rocking Kaliyo's corsetted trench coat on my female Sniper for example! Please and thank you!
TakexeNex
I like the idea but financially speaking I find it easier and less expensive to outfit my comps with greens and blues from the gtn. For a full cybertech that would be easy to keep up on levels, for the rest comms dont drop that fast. A second idea about comp only armors available at vendors has potential. As long as it was greens only and level appropriate to the planet it would have minimal impact on the gtn. Cartel comp armor? I guess but thats alot of coins to spend on crew. LyraineAlei
I had a similar idea. At the end of the companion's conversation quest line, we could get a box of the comp's original armor set as a moddable. By the time we get about level 47-50, we could easily have a ton of planetary comms to fill the empty slots as blues and greens fill the main spaces. On my main, I'm using mods that are bought using other little tokens, so I use planetary comms to set up the armor for the companions I don't use much. You missed the purpose of my post entirely. I want all of my companions to be wearing the same exact armor they come with for the LOOK of it. So if I acquire Mako at level 10 I want her to be able to wear that armor set at level 55 and have it be viable. The only way to do this is to make it modable so I can put level 55 Armornings, Mods and Enhancements into the armor set. In order to do this, the armor will need to become Orange, or modable much like Treek's Armor when you get her at level 10, it is fully modable. I also have no issue finding planetary comms. I just do a few warzones, transfer the WZ comms to planetary and I can fully deck out a companion, and myself, in Armorings, Mods and enhancements every 10 levels or so. Was that simple enough for you to understand that time around? ;-)
CrownofGold
Cartel comp armor? I guess but thats alot of coins to spend on crew. Also, no one said anything about Companion ONLY armor on the Cartel Market. That would be a stupid idea. My suggestion was that the styles of the companion armors can be available via Cartel Market or Cartel Packs. Fully adaptive so anyone can wear them, player or companion. TakexeNex
Was that simple enough for you to understand that time around? ;-) It was simple enough the first time wise one. I guess what I failed to understand is that what you propose would mean nothing to beginners without resources that you and I have after much time in the game. So yeah for us old timers great idea! Get my point?

Get my point? Sure, but even a brand new player can purchase Treek with their very first toon at level 10 from the Cartel Market and she comes with modable armor. So not sure how that would be any different...?

So not sure how that would be any different...? Well its one thing to have the modable custom armor and another issue to keep it stocked with current level mods. You and I can and would benefit far more than noobs. But hey at least they would have the armor be able to use it when they could gather enough comms to level it and enough creds to get the cheap stuff some planets offer. Its a mixed bag deal but yeah it could be sweeter for beginners. Typically they will use all the comms they get on themselves and the comp armor will get thrown into the cargo bin when they cant keep it up but at least theyd have the set. I don't see the problem here. If they don't want to upgrade the mods and just get greens/blues instead, they can just discard the orange armor like any other starter armor. If they keep it in their cargo bay they can use it if they can, and chuck it back in there if they can't (greens being cheaper or for whatever reason). Like any other feature, you'd either use it or not. Also, everyone seems to forget that all planets have a mods vendor that sells level-appropriate green mods for credits. Even beginners should have no problem using these to upgrade their comps (IF they had orange gear). I fully support this. Been trying to get a Trench coat for Kaliyo for a while, but those things are expensive. The OG outfits are awesome, and more orange gear is never a bad thing. Jedi_riches
Yeah I would like this too, as Scourge is the biggest problem with amour sets plus all +aim users that are not troopers are forced to wear trooper armour. If this was not to be done I would settle for a appearance toggle, eg since all the trooper armour has a imperial counterparts a toggle to swap between wearing the republic version or the imp version (so long as it won't reset during companion cutscences like dyed items do). Excise
This would be cool. Poor Pierce, super tough Imperial soldier that he is, just doesn't look right in Bounty Hunter gear. Edited October 20, 2014 by Excise

Get my point? You could continue buying cheap green and blue equipment from the GTN and either save the comp armor for later or throw it away. No change to your game at all. Just because something is moddable does not mean you have to use it.

Though I do not care much for Pierce, he just sucks for a SW character, but I do have him in the all white Imperial Trooper gear from Makeb which is modable.
