Does Being Friendly matter?

So I'm playing a Sith Warrior and I have been respectful of most people while occasionally serving destruction in the sith way to those that deserve it or annoy me xD Does being nice even matter? I was mean to big scary Darth man and he just shrugged it off let ehhh what ever. I understand the companion system but what about other non companion characters. Does it matter?

I suspect you are referring to NPCs and not players. Being friendly or not only matters to you when you are making conversation choices. For me I make choices based on my companion's reaction to them since some choices may yield a lot of affection. However, sometimes I make choices because of the outcome I expect..

As for players, you can never go wrong with being friendly. You may meet some rude players usually in Kuat or PvP but for the most part people are civilized.

Play the character you want to play. Think about what your character would say in a given situation, if what you're saying makes sense, and what their goals in the conversation are. Companion affection can always be bribed back up using gifts.

And yes, be friendly to players.

Yes. But why would I pass up on 300 affecton points just because it's not a decision I would have made? Sometimes if you make a choice that the companion really like you will gain high affection. I remember once particular choice gained 190 affection from Malavai, and the entire convo netted close to 300 points.

Most "bad choices will cost -1 or -2 affection but if the option option is a generous affection gain, I don't see why you shouldn't make that choice.

It's not about a decision *you* would not have made. It's about a decision *your character* would not have made. If having a strong character in mind while playing does not appeal to you and you'd rather min/max, more power to you. However, for some, building a believable character is a higher priority, and you can't do that by simply making choices your companions like (unless you're playing a doormat).

Both approaches have merit.

I don't really care for your tone and you have completely lost me. what does having a strong character have to do with the choices you make in a conversation? As far as I know, your conversation choices merely brings an interesting twist to the quest or story-line progression with some giving alighment/ companion affection points ( neither of which have any significant impact on how stronger your character is).

Depends on your definition of strong and most of your choices will be in congruence with that of your character's likes unless you are a Sith who is hell-bent on making light side choices. And I didn't take kindly to the "doormat" reference.

The doormat obviously referred to a character, not to you. I.e., it makes little sense for your character to say something based on whether their companion will like it, unless you're playing a character who is an Extreme Doormat.

By strong, he meant "solid, believable, coherent". There, happy now? Can we please stop arguing over semantics and move along, seeing as we've answered the OP's question?

Did you really have to pull TvTropes into this?

Anyways...

Depending on how you want to play your Sith Warrior, either Lightside (which is actually a really interesting story most people shrug it off as being a Sith that acts like a Jedi, when it really isnt it's deeper than that, it's about working for the good of the Empire without being a ruthless murderer and killer, you actually have a sense of honor as a Lightside Sith Warrior.) Dark Side, or Neutral (mix and match of options, pick options on your own whim.) If you want the Darth Title though, you have to play Dark Side (i think.) I think Neutral and Light get different titles at the end of their story, though you technically at the end of your story become something even higher than a Darth, but i'll let you see that for yourself.

I feed on tears and browser tabs.

You get the Darth title at the end of the story for both Warriors and Inquisitors. The only classes that have a major difference to the conclusion of their storyline are the knight (who still gets the Master title, no matter what Satele may say) and the Inquisitor (who becomes Darth Imperius, Darth Occlus, or Darth Nox depending on their LS/DS score, and the Darth title anyway).

Well, I played inquisitor and Warrior and i didn't find any conversation choices that would make my character seemed like a "doormat".

As for as I am concerned there weren't any choices at all that would put you in a weak RP position. It's mainly whether you wanted light-side or dark-side points or request additional information. it really boils down to whether you want to be the quintessential murdering, heartless Sith or the unconventional Sith with a conscience.

if you are playing a trooper then it's kinda different in a way. It's Either "Yes, Sir. No, Sir." or "I'll only do it for credits", "hope I get a reward" or " I deserve a promotion". So be the perfect soldier or be a ******....?

Sometimes your companion wants you to kill people too. Like Malavai disagreed with me Letting the Jedi live but gave 190 affection when I killed the republic soldiers. In any event, the decisions would only strengthen my RP position. Showing mercy is a testament of your strength just as much has cutting down your enemy without remorse.
