Inconsistency in consular storyline?

Hi all,

I've been playing the consular storyline on Belsavis. The main antagonist is commander Geland, a child of the Emperor, who has been on Belsavis for long time: since he's an imperial, how's possible that the empire didn't know belsavis until lately?:rak_02:

That's NOT an inconsistency.

The Children of the Emperor are autonomous and their goals may NOT always be the goals of the Empire; Many were not born Imperials to begin with.

Also...

Despite the Jedi Council’s best efforts, only a little is known of the so-called Children of the Emperor. Infants of all species taken before the Sith Emperor, the children are infused with the Emperor’s strength, sharing some measure of his thoughts and power for the rest of their lives. They become the Emperor’s eyes and ears, and–should the Emperor focus his presence upon them–his puppets. It is believed that the children have some way to hide their dark presence from Jedi senses, meaning they can exist undetected within the Republic. The position of the Children of the Emperor within the Sith hierarchy is unclear. Few Sith appear to even know of their existence, and Sith who investigate rumors of the children have been known to disappear without a trace. Since the Emperor would not go to such elaborate lengths simply to create infiltrators in the Republic, the true purpose behind the children remains a mystery.

Also, remember

one Sith? What happened to him?

^^ THE ABOVE HAPPENS AFTER BELSAVIS. SEE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Spoilers for the end of the JC, JK and SW stories below.

Being a Child of the Emperor does not mean being an Imperial spy. (Indeed, you will often find NPCs in this game making a distinction between Sith and Imperials.) The Emperor does not exactly keep the empire on a short leash -- according to His Hand, He has withdrawn from the "known galaxy" years ago. Even the Voice rarely interferes in trifling matters. For the Emperor, who rules Belsavis is of little concern so long as He can enact His plan for the planet. Would an early imperial presence on Belsavis make that plan easier? Probably. Can He do without? Certainly.

Add to that that it seems like the connection between the Children and the Emperor (or rather, the Voice) seems to be one-way. The Children hear and follow their Father's commands, but not even the First Son is ever shown to actively communicate with the Emperor or His Voice, so the Child on Belsavis couldn't give his location away if he wanted to.

That's my view of the matter, anyway. Probably someone a bit better-versed in the lore could clear it up.

That is not entirely correct.

As seen

and
, the Emperor is aware at all times where his Children are. They don't need to communicate to him anything.
