Nortumberland
Hello, mates! I've been playing healers in other MMOs for a while. I'd like to play one in SWTOR. For now I have lvl 30 Commando, Operative and Mercenary. So far I've found all of 'em efficient and pretty fun to play. But since I'm gonna focus on 1 character (I don't like spraying on several at time), I'd like to hear some advice on top tier gameplay. I'm mainly going to do solo pvp (unranked I guess), questing (can't stand to do all planetary at least) and FP/OPS with folks. I'd like to hear some POV of yours. I'd appreciate answers on my q at least 1) What companions will I mainly be using for questing? 2) What is the stress rate in PVP for mando(merc) vs operative? So far I've made some conclusions - Operative: - Nice outfit and ship. Designing story (feels like Splinter Cell or so) - Didn't like the companions... Kaliyo is frustrating and the bug-guy is a sort of crazy. - Pretty strong and measured heling in pve (no need to spam buttons like mando). - Nice healing in pvp, but feels a bit squishy . Merc: - Ship is ugly but it suits the lore of the class. The story is nice along with absence of authorities - your are the Boss. Some gear is nice but most looks like garbage (mummy like top set is just laughable) - Can't say all comps are bad. I have a powertech 46 lvl so I have all of them. Gult and Blizz are cool but others... Mako is... well.... I feel a sort of a perv mating a girl that looks like 15 or so. She is also damn annoying in battle. Torian has e personality of a wooden chock, but he's a good dps. And Skedge...ugh... worst comp so far. I wish I had a second ship droid instead. - Healing in pve was tricky - pretty smooth in FP and pain in the *** as solo until I got colto shell. I find it really tiresome spamming heals to top the hp (and I know about spamming 1 heal - I used to play Holy Pala for almost 7 years). On the other hand he can put some nice dps poping that charged gas. - In pvp it was incomprehensible. If you are focused seriously and u are on CD's... you are a free frag. But with team support he is a die hard one. Also having aoe and some supportive skills (like armor buff and damage reduction on aoe is awesome). Commando: - Great ship, great outfit and interesting story (aka some good military action) - Really liked the companions - looks like they all fit in that squad. Crazy-good droid wins hands down - Healing is same as merc except the green beam... damn in PVP it's like a suicide skill. Few. I hope I've managed to explain my trouble. I'd really appreciate YOUR help, peeps!
karmaann
Operative: - Nice outfit and ship. Designing story (feels like Splinter Cell or so) - Didn't like the companions... Kaliyo is frustrating and the bug-guy is a sort of crazy. - Pretty strong and measured heling in pve (no need to spam buttons like mando). - Nice healing in pvp, but feels a bit squishy . i was a Eds palaheal and tank in Wow for years as well (had all the class btw), the closest i've found is the Operative, you won't be disapointed, it's all about hots, when you'll get the Nano it became fun and really efficient. In Pvp, if you are not focus by 3 Mara/Sent full Brut..at the same time, you don't die that fast, i've no pvp gear , you can assist dps, but it means you have to go melee with a good arsenal, flash and frag bomb + interrupt ,a shield etc.. yep Kalyo is a bit ..weird to say the least as a comp for a agent, no one fit really with it, except those from other class but (don't read if you don't check already some comp guide ) Temple, she is your mirror gear/stat with 2 blaster and well geared , a blast Lokin is a good.. healer unusefull for you as a healer Scorpio is a Droid, so as all of them difficult to gear up, but it's like a free HK 51 mostly really deadly i've made all HK 51 quest Solo with Kalyo as a tank, stealthing here and there, killing every boss necessary of course, and it was the 2nd time after the story line i fall in love with my char , so much fun, Splinter Cell you said, you are damn right enjoy your Op;)

ManaKeKz
From a solo PvE perspective, I found my Operative very useful - stealth being the main argument here. I use the melee tank companion (it's the last one you get, don't wanna spoil anything) and it works quite well, if you put some work into companion gear. Especially for heroic quests you can save a lot of trouble by sneaking in, killing the main target and sneaking back out. The combination of tank + healer means you'll survive almost any fight, but the more you have to heal, the longer the kill takes ofc. I'm not heavy on PvP, so this is more hearsay than than real info, but here's what I know: Operative: Pretty mobile and evasive, harder to catch than most classes. Instant heals/hots means you can still do quite a lot while moving; keep Kolto Probe on as many targets as you want/can, use Kolto Cloud when needed and use all TA procs for Surgical Probe. Merc/Mando: You can pretty much forget mobility while healing, the important heals are casts. Between heavy armor, Reactive Shield and Kolto Shell (with the appropriate passives), you are the most durable healer. But actions are fairly limited in my opinion. Another thing I'd like to mention is that I found the Trooper story rather meh, nothing really stood out and the ending was poor imo. Agent is much more to my liking, never mind the fact that they have the most appealing ship in the galaxy - more luxury than even the sith The companions are ok, as a dark sider Kaliyo approved pretty much anything I did. Nortumberland
I see where it goes! Thank you for help, folks! I really appreciate your time! I guess, I'd focus on my operative than. Can't wait to put my hands on those cool skills in top tier Edited October 13, 2014 by Nortumberland
