CaliOrion
Title says it all: the preorder XP boost is great* (it's frankly why I pre-ordered; I *despise* all the Revan crap in this game and I'm unhappy about the removal of hybrids, so I'm pretty disgusted about the actual expansion itself) and while I'm enjoying having a chance to replay the storylines of some of my old characters, I've encountered a bit of a problem: I can't realistically play with any of my friends who haven't pre-ordered. Oops. So add one more voice to the "PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, GIVE US A TOGGLE" chorus. *given that I don't play with people I don't know and therefore don't have to deal with idiots who don't know how to play their class. TravelersWay
Or you could... not buy/use skills above their level and take off pieces of gear as necessary to balance yourself with them. Wow! Which only works to a certain point until the character essentially becomes invulnerable regardless of lack of gear, and level upgraded skills cannot be undone, so content becomes even more faceroll easy. Asinine workarounds are asinine. At least with this particular boost, the off switch is not pre-ordering until the very last minute.

Yea it's not a perfect solution, but seeing as Bioware is not going to add a toggle, and there are multiple threads about this already, this is about the best advice I can give to someone who already preordered. Elric_VIII
Or you could... not buy/use skills above their level and take off pieces of gear as necessary to balance yourself with them. Wow! Everyone loves a contrarian. "If you play upside-down at exactly sea level while singing the Canadian national anthem the game won't CTD on startup, don't bother fixing it, we're good." To the op: That is my problem. It's the only reason I have not preordered yet.

First, you don't know if Bioware is going to add a toggle; and second, your "advice" is useless and shows that you do not understand the mechanics of combat or grouping. You're just looking for an excuse to be rude. Take it elsewhere.
JumperPenn
You can play with your friends if you stop doing your class story missions. Help them run theirs, run the heroics/fps etc just don't do your class story missions and you won't get 12xp.

Maybe think about how it will affect how you play the game before jumping the gun? You're still trolling, obviously, but I'll give you a last response before I block you: Yes, I knew what would happen if I pre-ordered, and I don't regret doing so. My friends will be around after December, 12* XP won't be, so I'm getting the XP while I can. That doesn't change that the system is badly designed and could be improved, nor does it change that you are intentionally ignoring this fact just so you can be a dick to people. Buh-bye, weakest link. Oh my. And I find when I went to your profile to ignore you that you've started multiple posts crying because armour sets clip. May I just say: "They hold the modifications, they're fine. Just don't look at them while you wear them and clipping wont be a problem!" Honestly, thank you: you've managed to make me smile despite your best efforts. Edited October 11, 2014 by CaliOrion

Sirce
Think about it this way, BW adds the toggle and then all those who preordered "mistakenly" turns off the bonus Xp and beg Bioware to fix this, etc. Or you should read all the perks and be aware of this temporary bonus. You can EASILY avoid class story quest and do other stuff to play with friends. However, I strongly believe, you made this excuse up as a way to "force Bioware" to cater to you. Toggling the bonus is ridicolous and contrary to what Bioware wants, everybody to play 3.0 when it comes out. So, I'm in opposition of "toggle" because you had 2 years to play the story, and the past year as F2P if you wanted.
TravelersWay
everybody to play 3.0 when it comes out. Wrongo my friend. I certainly in no rush to play it when it comes out. Many, many of my friends and guildies are the same way for various reasons, not the least of which is waiting until the bugs actually get patched out since there (once again) will be little proper testing of major features for this expansion. Lotharofxev
System works fine. Either cough up $20 or endure what is undoubtedly a "first-world problem". Swear to God there are people who if given $100 out of somebody else's pockets would complain it wasn't $101. Think it that way: he's injecting at least $20 in the game. Part of it might be used to make the game better. So would I were you I'd thank him Then I agree with the OP for the toggle, I finally pre-ordered and it suck playing with friends that doesn't. So much that I told them to leave the game till we can finally level on the same pace. Anyway they were doing me a favor trying out SWTOR, they have plenty other games to burn through. You told your friends to leave the game instead of finding something else to with them in game, or you can be a good friend to them and buy them the xpac, either telling people to leave the game is never good.. Only to tell them come back when the Xp bonus go away, you can clearly still play with your friends yeah it won't be the same.. But at least you'll be better equip to do heroics without having to wait for help.. Plus you can help it with things he can't kill on his/her own. branmakmuffin
You "toggle" is to not pre-order before 12/1. Still get the Revan statue.
ScarletBlaze
I brought the expansion and I have 4 alts that I level with my boyfriend. He is unable to play until around Christmas due to the fact he at college right now. Instead of using the xp and leveling while he is gone, I just play on my level 55. I have to determine which is more important, leveling my alts or playing with my boyfriend and leveling together. The xp isn't that important to me. Playing with my boyfriend is so I chose not to level my alts and not use the xp. Either way I had to buy the expansion no big deal to me if I don't use the xp. CaliOrion
You "toggle" is to not pre-order before 12/1. Still get the Revan statue. You misunderstand: I do not care about the statue (or even the rest of the expansion.) I DO want the 12* xp - on SOME of my characters. I love the bonus on my solo characters, and my characters I play with other pre-order friends; but since not all of my friends can pre-order, I can't realistically level with those friends right now. Yes, I can skip class stories, or I can just be massively over leveled and we can faceroll through the content, but let's be honest: I don't want to do content I'm massively over level for, and my guildmates don't want to sit on their *** watching me stomp everything while they effectively do nothing to contribute. Like it or not, blame me or Bioware or the gods, rant or rave, I don't care; what it boils down to is this: The 12* xp is a disincentive to grouping, which is a disincentive to playing, which is a disincentive to subscribing. I'm not arguing the point beyond this; the powers that be spend (even waste) a considerable amount of time trying to force people to group, so I know the people who actually have an ability to influence the situation understand why being able to play with friends is important to their bottom line. But it's a moot point now: My guildmates have sorted out their stances on this (there are only a handful of us,) and the have-nots have mostly decided to drop down to free-to-play for a while and focus on work/other games. So I guess at least I can feel vindicated, if not satisfied. The end.
