I see how it is. If our opinion is not with the others of Copperfield being funny and we think he's obnoxious and not funny then it is looked down upon. But if there are others that are enjoying it and find him funny then it's all ok, fine and dandy.

Ok, I can understand that. I just find it not funny is all. Just like you find it funny. But I guess it's always the other person's opinion that matters the most. I see that now about most people.

But you don't see that about yourself. That's what's funny about the people who don't find this funny. Many are not content simply with rolling their eyes and moving on. They find it necessary to declare Copperfield NOT funny. But they rarely say, "IMO" or "Personally" or anything else to indicate they recognize it may be largely just them. Instead they declare in a universal fashion that "Copperfield is not funny!" Period, often going on at length about what constitutes true humor (not "in their eyes" but universally), giving us the clear impression that THEIR opinion is what matters most, which is the very idea you purport to condemn. THEN you turn right around and attempt to elevate yourself by declaring, "I see that now about most people." as if you are a sage and wise person standing above it all.

And that's funny.

That's how you take it in your head. These forums are becoming more and more hostile with people over thinking and analyzing the heck out of one's words and then spinning it around to make them "look like something". Who said anything about me being "a sage and wise person standing above it all" . that's how YOU interrupt it sir.

Perhaps that's why I don't go on these forums as much anymore. Not in the mood for people arguing and trying to create drama and pick fights. Again, I will say what it is. It's alright for some people to like it, but it's not alright for somebody to not like what they like so they just create flings where they are none. I've gotten that for 10 years now. That's what it is with people, there's no logical way of talking with ones like you. You are right. Sorry. I must have not seen before :)

No more from me on this. Guess a guy can't have an opinion but you can. I get it. Idc. Bye!

A perfect example of someone who has taken the entire issue personally and is unable to properly generalize. I NEVER SAID and, in fact, went out of my way to ensure and say, that people can properly see Copperfield's humor as NOT funny. That is a perfectly legitimate and acceptable response. That's not wrong at all. If you don't find it funny, it's not funny to you, end of story. Who could argue with that? I'm not. If we're talking solutions here, it's simple enough: If you don't like his stuff, don't read it. If you continue to read his stuff and comment on it, I question your motives.

The problem, as I see it, is people who are not content with simply declaring their dislike. Instead, they declare Copperfield is not funny, period, AND anyone who likes it is somehow wrong and doesn't understand humor. Some here have gone so far as to declare they KNOW what is humorous and will show the rest of us REAL humor, or REAL Role Playing, because somehow the rest of us don't get it, but they do.

It kind of reminds me of an old Oscar Wilde quote. Though not 100% relevant, it still speaks to the issue: "In America the young are always ready to give to those who are older than themselves the full benefits of their inexperience."

This person is quite angry with me and has sent me a message announcing I am not to speak to him. I never have, of course. I don't know who he or she is or anything about him/her. I have a right to post on these forums and to reply to posts, just as he/she does, So I'm puzzled as to exactly how I am to implement his/her demand in light of the fact we have never had any private correspondence. This speaks to the heart of the matter, of course. I have always maintained everyone has a right to an opinion and free speech, but that it stops at the border, so to speak. Apparently he/she doesn't understand that basic issue,

which is not my problem.

Stop harassing me please. Thank you. I won't be able to see anymore of your messages. Goodbye and have fun in SWTOR :)

TBH, that's one of the things I like best about Copperfield posts...they don't try to create drama or pick fights. He posts to have fun, not flame, not insult, not harp on some issue. He takes a current GAME topic and has fun with it...I like the way he does it. The only people that get bent out of shape are the ones who try to insult him...which is poetic in so many ways!

I can appreciate that you don't find him humorous and I don't fault you at all for having an opinion on it (or stating it)...but I'm kinda surprised you don't enjoy it...if for no other reason than it's not flaming other players, Bioware, the game, or some big issue of the day...they're just meant to be "fun"...not bad. I thought you, of all people, would appreciate a player trying to lighten the mood around here from the normal day-to-day junk.

But don't you realize that just posting in the same thread as Sir Copperfield could make you almost as famous as him?

*Drops mic and Google's my name to see if I'm famous yet...:D

EXACTLY! When the gaming articles mention Sir Copperfield and his deeds, you can only hope to see your post above or below one of his infamous quotes. Being seen with Sir Copperfield is like getting your picture taken with the President...it doesn't make you the President, but it sure adds to your own credibility!

Hey...you ARE famous :p

I'm actually surprised that this thread is still hanging around. In most mmos, calling for an admin/gm is usually grounds for thread deletion and/or ban.

No need to show everyone that you are a n00b. Everyone who knows the slightest bit about MMOs knows that no mods would ever dare to delete something from SirCopperfield, the Dear. You just don't get it, do you? What part of GAMING LEGEND did you not understand? /facepalm

And about the funniness of this topic: SirCopperfield, the Dear never claimed to be funny or not being serious. He means what he writes. And with what? With every right! It's just you guys who think he is trolling or whatever. But he is not. And again, if you have no idea who he is, then just shush. I know SirCopperfield, the Dear since 1997 and I have followed him in every game. He is the best. He is the legend. He even left his wife and kids to become an even better player. Would you do that? No. And that's why you will never be legends.

I still take it personal though that he left us for ESO (to which I did not follow him - for the first time ever). It was maybe the first mistake he ever did in his gaming career. But now that he is back it shows that he can stand up for having made a mistake and correct it. Another proof for his legendary status.

And just to make sure you get it: I am dead serious. Just like the Dear is.

Careful! You don't want anyone getting angry with you, sending you hate mail, ignoring you, and claiming you are harassing him because you, like, disagreed with him, do you? He might become "offended" and file a complaint with the EEOC.

What?!?!?! Sacrilege!!! Sir Copperfield is NOT "one random guy." If Bioware does NOT know who Sir Copperfield is, they have no business running an MMO at all! It's simply impossible that they have not heard of him. It would be like saying Perry White had never heard of Superman, or Penny had never heard of Sheldon Cooper, or that Princess Leia had never heard of Darth Vader.

It's unthinkable!

Not at all. Everyone remembers the first time they encounter a Legend. I'm sure by now you've figured out just how much power Sir Copperfield wields in the arena of gaming and just how big of a deal he actually is in this industry.

Being a gamer yourself, I'm sure you're starting to feel the natural attraction to him that all gamers feel. Now that you know, you are just one of the flock that wish to soar with him.

Oh good. That makes me feel better.

Not that I will change my flight patterns or anything but I see him, I see him. Fun times! *casual fan*

Okay, I see now that I reacted a bit harsh and I apologise for that. But well, I just cannot stand it if SirCopperfield, the Dear does not get the respect he deserves. If he gets attacked, it is as if I am attacked myself. You know how it is. Everyone knows who knows SirCopperfield. That's what happens if you dwell in his orbit.

Did you follow him on his voyage to ESO though? I did, it was awesome. Not only was the PvP amazing (he loaded on the map and BAM instant win!) but his presence raised the general chat there to new heights of frivolity and intelligent discourse!

*basks in the glory*

Oh wait I wasn't supposed to reply noooooo--

His posts are more trash tier than those who start anti-premade threads, guild ships costing too much threads, and buff my class because I'm bad threads combined.

Hope that didn't hit you too hard. :rak_03:

I ONLY WANT A STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC EMPLOYEE TO REPLY IN THIS THREAD. NOBODY ELSE. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO MY FELLOW POSTERS, YOUR OPINION ON THIS MATTER MEANS NOTHING. I WANT SOME REAL ANSWERS. I WILL BUMP THE THREAD IF NEED BE.

Well you already know that's never going to happen (7.5/10) :p

The rest of your post though, can be answered easily. Engine limitations. :D

so who is this pretentious twit?

You should retract that last part. If you don't know who he is, you should. He's basically like the biggest thing in gaming since ever. He's the Oprah of MMOs, the Bill Gates of gaming, the George Lucas of SWTOR, the Vanilla Ice of video games. He's merely a man, but he proves that all men are NOT created equally.
